I have been a supporter of planned parenthood for as long as I can remember. I used to go to the one of Jacksborough highway which although the office in general lacked something I always received good enough service from the front desk people. The nurse practitioners were smart, kind and friendly. I would in fact, refer my friends to this location for their woman’s health services. After all, being a college student without a full time job to provide me with insurance leaves little other options other than going to PP. However, that being said this location is by far the most unprofessional location I have ever been to. I visited this location a few weeks ago and even when I think about the treatment I received now, it still makes me mad. I entered the location(beautiful building, really) on a Tuesday when they close at 7pm. The girl immediately to my right who I am assuming is their receptionist was talking on her cell phone and didn’t even acknowledge I was there until I managed to distract her from her phone. I told her that I came from the Jacksborough location and needed to see someone to get my annual prescription of birth control renewed. She, while still on her cell phone asks me if I have an appointment. I said I did not and that I was a walk in. She rolled her eyes and me and said to me the person on her phone to «hold on a minute» and that she had a «difficult person» in front of her. She then said to me «well we don’t accept walk ins after 330, because then we’d never get out of here and what time is it now?» I check my phone and it’s only 245. I inform her of the time and she lets out a large sigh and says«well… It will be a LONG wait». I tell her I don’t mind waiting, because it’s my only day off from work and school I have when planned parenthood is open. Besides, they are open until 7 and the website says they accept walk ins. She rolls her eyes and tells me «fine, you can go wait over there», which turns out to be the actual clinic. When I get into the clinic, the second receptionist tells me «we are not accepting any more walk ins today and we are not going to wait around until 8pm so that you can get helped». That was the most unacceptable customer/patient service I have ever received. When I left the office I was so mad I was shaking. So not only after having gone to two PPs I had to drive to a THIRDPP in Bedford to meet with a nurse practitioner for less than 5 minutes to get my refill. As a receptionist at a large company and as a nursing student, I know how you are supposed to treat patients and customers. This incident was completely unacceptable and is not indicative of how visiting a planned parenthood should feel like. If you want to be treated like a human being, go to the Bedford location, not this location.
