Have been there many times and usually have a coupon. Service is usually good and the food has always been very good. My kids love sushi and we went in for lunch today with a «groupon» type thing. Our lunch for 3 cost 14 plus tip after the coupon was deducted. We sat at the Sushi bar and talked with Thomas who was the Sushi chef and he was outstanding! Great food, great information. He informed us of the sushi rolling class so we signed up on the spot for the one the same night. It was $ 25 per person for the class, but it was well worth it! It was great. Thomas showed us how the different types of rolls were made and some of the history being the food and other things. That was fantastic. I never knew so much went into making the rice! Included in the cost of the class was a drink, an appetizer and a roll that each of us would make on our own, plus a couple that Thomas made as a demonstration. I highly recommend this class to anyone who is interested in sushi, even vaguely. My 10YO daughter loves sushi and she raved about how much fun the class was and she really loved the history part. My 8YO son who likes sushi, loved making and eating his own Alaska roll! Both of them can’t wait to go back and do it again. I am with them! I want to take the next course which is more about the fish and knife work. I highly recommend this restaurant and the sushi class. It was a blast!

I am so disappointed in this place. I loved the food but we will not return. We have been here 2 times. Both times, awful service(same waiter). The first time we were one of two tables in the restaurant, and the server did not have both, so you would think that taking care of one table would not be so difficult. I mentioned we had a coupon and he was very short asking for the number, and I said there was not one and he insisted there was and took my phone to try and find it. When he couldn’t, he took it to someone else to try and find it. Well, there was no number on it so that was pretty annoying. He was slow, and very unfriendly– kind of seemed annoyed we were there. Anyways– we decided to give it another shot tonight(my husband, a friend and myself). This time we were the only people here when we walked in. No one was at the front to greet us but the server came out after a few minutes and sat us. I mentioned again I had a coupon for this visit and he sighed and said«let me see it, it’s probably expired» I said this was not the type of coupon that expires and showed him and he said ok. We ordered 4 rolls and 2 appetizers. He brought out one of our rolls and an appetizer first. Then the 2nd appetizer. Then a second and third roll. My roll did not come out. I asked the server about the roll and he said ok and went to grab the sheet we filled out to ask which one he missed and I showed him. Let me mention he did not apologize at all and walked off without explanation about if it had been ordered or not. Thankfully it was made but he just failed to bring it. By the time I got it, my friend and husband were done eating. Then he brings the ticket, which the coupon was not applied to. When I pointed that out, he said«yes well I’ll need to see the coupon again and bring my manager over to see it». I was pretty mad at this point– IFYOUHAVEANYQUESTIONABOUT A COUPONPLEASEDONOTWAITUNTILAFTERWEHAVEORDEREDTOBRINGITTOTHEMANAGERSATTENTION!!! I did not say this to him but figured I would speak with the manager about it. The manager came and asked first how the service was and when I said that I was not thrilled with the service and explained that I got my food after the rest of my party was finished he just said«ok». He did, however, say he would accept the coupon. I am a little confused as to why the manager would not apologize to us after we said our experience was anything but good. Perhaps it is just this server but we are so disappointed that the service had not improved and that the manager was also not helpful that we will definitely not be back.

Coming to Sushi Yoko is awkward. The manager came to our table to drop off some peanuts(which I thought was weird to have peanuts at a sushi restaurant) and he didn’t say a word to me and my sister. Then they brought out some salads that were a free little appetizer, but completely not needed and we were even like uh, and they waiter/host said they were complimentary. We then ordered 1 roll(which came out differently than the last time we ordered it) and then I ordered spicy tuna and it came out just tuna, so when I asked about the spicy part, they took it back and obviously sprinkled some seasoning on the 2 pieces I just had brought out to me. I was also skeptical to eat the other tuna I ordered because it was rubbery and seemed as though it had been sitting out or not kept properly. The salmon was not bad. I will not be going back.

A group of 3 girlfriends and I went to Sushi Yoko for a sushi class from a groupon we had purchased. We arrived close to 30 minutes late due to travel, as we were driving from Dallas. Yet the instructor waited for us with no complain. As the class began, it started with a bit of history, different types of sushi and he broke down the difference between eating sushi in the U. S and in Asia. I wasn’t at all familiar with sushi, so for me it was a great experience and really feel like I learned a lot. We all chose a roll to make, and they offered us an appetizer of our choice, and a drink as well. The instructor began to show us how to make the california roll, and another and with that we were on our own, we each got a chance to make our own, but he was really great with helping us verbally so that we would still get to do our own ourselves. He offered us 2 other samples of sushi as well, one of them being the O.M.G roll, and it really was oh my god delicious! All in all, it was a great night, a lot of fun while learning as well. I would recommend Sushi Yoko to anyone that would like to try. And I will be visiting the restaurant soon as well!

I had heard good things about Sushi Yoko so the BF and I went one night and found that we were the only two people there. Granted we went late on a weekday, it didn’t detract from our experience, but it was a little strange being the only patrons. I had a yummy«cherry blossom» martini and we ordered a couple of rolls. We thought the sushi was pretty good compared to a couple of other Camp Bowie sushi joints. We also noticed that the happy hour menu looked VERY reasonable. We aim to hit up their HH one day.

Decent food. I don’t like sushi so I got the fried rice and they pile it on so high! You get a lot of rice for your money. Boyfriend got the Louisiana Roll which has crawfish in it. I thought that was pretty unique.

Great find! We attended the sushi class with some friends, hosted by the owner. He was knowledgeable and passionate. I would recommend the OMG roll… Scrumptious!!!

Sorry, but I have been to your restaurant in the past and find that you will not stay in business when you have only one sushi chef busting his butt to serve a Saturday night with several tables full. It was not a packed night, but it took forever to get the first dish which was an appetizer of white tuna. The cuts were way thicker than I’ve ever eaten sashimi before. Then with only 2 wait staff for all the tables customers around us were complaining about how long they have been waiting, especially the table with small children. The special sushi rolls we ordered were good, but we got full on our drinks waiting for them. I did have a coupon which prompted this visit and all though the servers were courteous we were brought the wrong tab at first I will not go back based on the under staffing.

Two issues… 1. Ordered a bento box for lunch. The fish ain’t fresh, and it hasn’t been for several trips. For $ 11, they serve 5 pieces of not-fresh sushi, a California roll, miso, salad, and an egg roll. The salad’s dressing tasted like water. Instead of the egg roll, Sushi Axiom serves three pieces of sashimi, fresh sashimi. 2. The only reason I went to Yoko again after prior bad experiences is my expired Groupon, which now carries a $ 15 value, and according to Groupon’s terms, can be used on any goods or services offered by the restaurant. Yoko refused to apply my $ 15 Groupon to my bento box because«combinations» were not included in the original promotion. Yoko failed to understand my Groupon is no longer subject to the promotional terms, and is the equivalent to cash. Bad food, bad management. My waitress was courteous though.

This is an update on Sushi Yoko. My last visit prior to this one was in April this year. Just as an introduction: I lived in Japan over eight years, going«native», so I know what good Japanese cuisine is all about. I have been patronizing Sushi Yoko for the last four years, possibly much longer. At first, I was delighted at my discovery of arguably the greatest sushi place in town. Yoko, the hostess, a Korean-Japanese, was most pleasant, chatted with you, and guided you to the table or bar, the waitresses, all from the Far East or of Far Eastern origin, were equally attentive. Behind the bar, «Ro» expertly prepared the sushi. Then, «Ro» left to open his own sushi restaurant in the Keller area, he told me, and his No. 2(«Danny»? or so the other commentators say) took over… sushi were still very good. One time, in September 2010, when I went there with my girlfriend, before ordering sushi, we also had tempura… very well prepared, very light coating, good dipping sauce(tentsuyu). The food was always very good, the service beyond reproach. And there was a middle-aged, kimono-clad lady, someone whom I would be tempted to call a «mama-san», hovering in the background, watching everything very closely, making sure that everything was done right. Because I was kind of a «regular», most every time when I ordered sake, she brought it and served me the first cupful… very typical Japanese… Times have changed. I had noticed a turn-over in service personnel already earlier. Out were Yoko, «mama-san» and the lovely Far Eastern waitresses. In are a manager and service personnel who do not have an understanding of Japanese cuisine, and also that in a Japanese restaurant, ambience is an important part of your dining experience. This Sunday in mid July 2012, I went there in the early evening. The place was dead… maybe because of the day and the time of the day, I thought. No one at the entrance to welcome you; no waitresses; just one sushi preparer(I hadn’t seen before) behind the counter who never even looked up once(except when talking to the manager) during the whole time I was there. I sat down at the bar. After a while, the manager(I guess that’s what he was) showed up and brought the menu. I ordered some of our favorite sushi, as always, for take-out, and this time, got myself seafood tempura from the main course menu, to bridge over the waiting time. The tempura came, with dipping sauce… but no daikon-oroshi(grated white Japanese radish), to mix with the dipping sauce. I asked for it. The manager who apparently doubled up as the(lone) waiter didn’t know what that was. He asked the sushi guy. What I then got was cut-up taku-an(yellowish pickled radish… goes well with rice, by the way). Wrong! I had to explain. «Sorry, we don’t have that»… though I seem to remember that in 2010, they had it. Also different was the dipping sauce for the tempura I got this time: it was too heavy and strangely sweet… destroyed the taste of the quite nicely, lightly fried tempura(though the oil used was, in my opinion, a bit too light on sesame oil). I had to add a generous portion of soy sauce which didn’t do anything to the consistency but at least covered up most of the strange sweetness of the dipping sauce. The cook apparently never had a look at a book on Japanese cooking basics: he would have found that a good tempura dipping sauce is really so easy to make: 1 cup dashi, 1⁄3 cup mirin, 1⁄3 cup light-colored(usu-kuchi) soy sauce. But I doubt that the cook even knows what dashi and mirin are, and the difference between(regular) dark-colored(koi-kuchi), and light-colored(usu-kuchi) soy sauce. Anyhow, no good dipping sauce, no daikon-oroshi = no good tempura. I should have asked for a small tray of salt, to dip the tempura in it… that would have been the alternative. But at that time I didn’t think of that… The«seafood tempura» combination also was unusual: several pieces of crawfish(in Japanese cuisine, crawfish is not used) were among the five pieces of vegetables and four pieces of shrimp. Because of the deep frying, the crawfish had shriveled to minuscule size. All that for $ 18.00? Kind of steep, I thought. Some of the more recent commentators mentioned that lately, there was change in ownership. This may explain the staff turn-over, management bringing in service personnel inexperiened in Japanese cuisine(at lower wages, perhaps?); the only one left from olden times is the sushi chef who took over after«Ro» left. Therefore, sushi are still a reasonably safe bet at Sushi Yoko. Reluctantly, I have to withdraw my earlier recommendation that this«is the sushi restaurant to go to». Those times are gone. This place appears to be going downhill. The moment the present sushi chef should go, they might as well close down.

This place had the worst service I have ever experienced! We had to wave down the waitress to take our drink order and any other time we needed something. Our chicken appetizer came out cold. I was finished eating for 30 minutes before my husbands chicken teriyaki came out, and when it finally did it was cold as well! We had them take it off the check and ended up getting him Wendy’s on the way home. So many things were wrong about this place. Needless to say, we will not be returning!

What a disappointment! We had eaten here several times in the past but they must have recently changed owners because it was not the same enjoyable experience. The service was TERRIBLE, 10 minute wait for the server, another 15 minute wait for our drinks(The restaurant was not busy at all!) and, while the sushi was served promptly, they didn’t include the wasabi so it was yet another 10 minute wait. The sushi, for the most part was good. The tuna and yellow tail were fresh and had good flavor, as well as the spicy tuna roll but the the calamari and tempura rolls were soggy and the flavors were a muddled mess. The spider roll was simply unappetizing. They forgot to bring the unagi and when they did, it wasn’t worth the wait. It was such a disappointing evening and I don’t plan on returning soon. There are better sushi restaurants in Fort Worth.

I’ll begin by saying that the restaurant is beautifully decorated. Our server was friendly, the place was super clean. What could go wrong? We started with the«Heart Attack» I LOVED it and started getting excited about the rolls and the sushi we had ordered. She brought my unagi and my scallop sushi. The scallop was fresh, clean and tasty. The unagi on the other hand smelled and tasted like bad bait. This was quickly followed by the rolls that we had ordered. Both plates were drowning in some black sauce that tasted like burnt molasses to me. It overwhelmed everything on the plate. We left over half our food before paying our tab and leaving. I may try them again during happy hour and sitting at the sushi bar rather than a table but with all the sushi restaurant choices popping up in Ft. Worth it’s not next on my list.

Have you ever eaten somewhere where you are afraid as you leave that you will end up with food poisoning? I really haven’t until today. I got a groupon for my mom and I to go on our annual sushi date and we were really excited to go. We got there and were amazed to see the restaurant was almost empty(at prime lunch hours). That should have been clue #1. As we were seated, we were amazed at how clean everything was. They also had dry erase sheets for us to order from(great idea). We ordered the Heart Attack first(jalapeño w/crab and cream cheese fried) — it was pretty good. As our sushi first plate arrived, we noticed that it was covered(yes, COVERED) in a sauce that I believe is called tsume. It was so thick that I couldn’t really taste anything besides the sauce. I brought it to the attention of the waitress twice, but she didn’t really say anything about it. As our next roll came out– it was covered in the same sauce as well. I have been to quite a few sushi places and haven’t ever had that happen before. Usually I have only seen light touches of the sauce or it used in a decorative fashion– also they will use different types of sauces on different rolls. The rolls were also missing some of the elements mentioned on the menu(like smelt eggs). I kind of felt bad(especially since I was using a Groupon). But as we ate, we started realizing that the fish wasn’t that good of quality. It all tasted as if it had been either previously frozen or if it had something added to it to prolong the freshness or something. After all of the great reviews– perhaps I was there on a rough day or something? I still have my fingers crossed that we don’t end up ill. I would have been reallly angry if we had paid $ 50 for the meal, but with the Groupon $ 20 was better to handle.

This sushi joint is soo underrated. This is seriously the best kept secret in Fort Worth. The restaurant is very elegant and crazy cheap –even cheaper with a Groupon :) The waitress was very attentive without being over bearing. After browsing through their menu, I wished we weren’t using our Groupon because I really wanted to try their bento boxes. They were all in the $ 12 range which is a steal considering it’s a full sushi meal. I enjoyed their wasabi roll thoroughly(I’m a sucker for roe, put it in anything and I’m in heaven). I have to agree with Paul H. about their Pineapple fried rice. It needed a little tweaking. I suggest some Thai basil and some chili sauce to add that needed kick. Come hereeee. It’s mellow and understated. I would say it’s Sushi Axiom on Valium and that’s a sincere compliment.

Came with Unilocaler Tiffany D. Décor: 4⁄5 –I like the feel and appearance –We went during lunch and there was no one in the restaurant which was nice and private –They have rooms for large private parties –A long sushi bar Service: 3.5÷5 –Server was very friendly even when she knew I had a Groupon. Food: 4⁄5 –Longhorn roll: the ribeye was good by itself which made the roll taste completely different afterwards(a good thing!). Definitely give this roll a try –Wasabi roll: the roe was green colored with a hint of wasabi –Spider roll: typical soft shell crab with cucumbers, avocado and eel sauce. –Pineapple fried rice was offered to us at the end of the meal but it was bleh

Service was very good. I’ve eaten here twice and had the lunch special both times, and I have mixed feelings about it. First off, you get a good quantity of food at a fair price — you get miso soup, salad, and an entrée for about 12 bucks. But, and this is weird for an American I guess, but both times I thought the sushi had too much fish and not enough rice. However, the manager checked with us on how we liked the meal, and was very receptive to our comments. Overall, I liked the place and will be going back regularly. It’s not that big a deal to ask for a little extra rice on the sushi.
