CONSUMERBEWARE!!! This place is gross! We went in and got greasy fries, greasy onion rings and burgers that were overlooked with no flavor! Our friend ordered«Texas» chili, which was Hormel with cheese and onions… gross, overpriced… BEWARE!

STARCAFE… STOCKYARDFORTWORTHTX… TOURISTTRAP! SKIPTHISPLACE… We are not local but were tourists visiting the area. From the outside your hoping for a western diner experience but you will be SERIOUSLYDISAPPOINTED. This is the«Stockyard» area full of beef and steak expectations. As you view their menu you will easily see clear overpricing of lunch items. Then you will see $ 2 a la carte items that come free with every other sandwich in the area. $ 3 a fountain drink now your at $ 15+ burger plate. The burgers are preformed and taste like frozen patties. We got Texas Chili and although the waitress said they did not make it, it was clearly HORMELFROM A CAN…$ 9 a bowl… REALLYNOTGOOD. They brag about their«Steak Fries»…they should stop bragging. Thin cut and you can tell they don’t change the frying oil often enough. We had onion rings too… more grease to swallow, no fresh flavor. You go to the rest rooms to wash the greasy feeling off your hands and you encounter unkept plumbing and a dirty bathroom. Back at the table, we had 2 sandwiches and a bowl of chili with fountain drinks…$ 45 lunch time food bill waiting for us. I gave this a(1) Star Rating but if I could have rated this«restaurant» lower I would have, terrible experience.

We love this place, and will most likely visit again in the future. The Star Café has an «old school» vibe that matches well with the stockyards. The food is pricey, but it’s all advertised in the menu, so you are made aware of what you will be paying. I ordered a burger with grilled onions and it was amazing! I took off a star because the burger tasted a little sweet(I know, a little different) but it was still an amazing meal! Very tiny restaurant, but our double stroller fit perfectly. The staff is outstanding! Very sweet, nice, and caring. Even fellow customers were sweet! One more great thing about this place is that it’s a little further down the road where there are not as many visitors. We immediately had a seat. Definitely worth your time!

Simple review for simple food: — onion rings — 5 — steak — 5 — blt — 4(tons of bacon!) — burgers — 3(a touch over cooked) — ambiance — 4 — service — 3(bit slow for not being busy) Worth the stop if you are visiting the stock yards!

This place is fantastic from top to bottom! It’s just like a filet, and while not the most expensive option on the menu, this was thus far the best steak I’ve ever had; the tableside prepared caesar salad, the dressing is pure-perfection, and the pre-dinner bread and spread are amazing. Side dishes are shareable, the potato gratin, and creamed spinach were perfect. We had no room for dessert. Great service and atmosphere. Highly recommend. You will not be disappointed!

The food at the Star café was pretty good. The fries are fresh cut and somewhat greasy. Read the menu… They are not included in cost of sandwiches. Kids enjoyed their menu. Service was mediocre. The atmosphere is okay. Not what I expected for the historic stockyards.

Hands down the best steak I ever had! No frills just good Texas cooking! Way better than the high end we ate in downtown Fort Worth ! If we ever come back it is a must!

We came here after waiting an hour for food at the trail boss burger(never go there). The lady at the register was so great seated us right away and our waitress was right behind here to get our drinks, she brought those back and took our food order. We decided to time how long the food took to get to us since the horrible experience we went through at the last place. Our food was out in 18 mins which was good timing since we has a party of 9. We all left full and happy!!! The food was amazing will definitely be back next time we go to the stock yards.

This place was amazing! The service was great and the food. The only complaint I had was that it’s not Handicap Accessible. We came into town on a road trip and chose to eat here. We had to lift my sons stroller to get inside. And then lift it down the stairs into another part of the restaurant. The thing that made LOVE this place is that I needed to pump(breast pump for my baby) since we had been in the car driving for 4 hours. I asked if there was a plug in the bathroom. There was not. Our waitress said there is a plug right there by your table. Please do what you need to feed your baby. I told her I didn’t want to make anyone feel uncomfortable. She said it is your right! You come tell me if anyone gives you problems. It was so amazing. Breast feeding is hard enough without having people judge you for doing it in public. THANKYOU! We loved the expirience.

It’s been over a year since our first visit. I returned because I found the food to be decent. NOT this time. The fiesta chicken salad was just chicken, lettuce and cheese. No beans, peppers, olives etc… Very overpriced for what you get. My son ordered a burger. Better burgers at fast food chains. It’s a shame since this place has a cute atmosphere, but not worth the price of bad food! Won’t return!

Your basic burger and fry shop with really friendly service. Waitress was right on our service with refills of water and ice tea. Separated all our bills without asking. Very old and rustic so if your looking for new with linen napkins this is not for you!

Overall this place was… just okay. My boyfriend and I wanted to have a quick bite and weren’t really hungry to get two plates so we decided to share a burger and when we told the waitress that she did a sigh, and seemed pretty annoyed. Probably due to the fact she thought we were kids, and just pestering her. Besides that we ordered the Star Burger, which is pretty disappointing in size, and we ordered fries which taste bland and not worth the extra 2 $. There is nothing about this place that wowed me, except the decoration but that’s all. Basically if you have no where else to go and really hungry, this wouldn’t be the worst place, but no wow factor in the food. I’d probably give it another chance, but until then there are way more other locations in Forth Worth.

It was just ok, and given the average of stellar and one star reviews I can concur with a lot of other’s comments. We had a chicken fried steak, which was a bit overly breaded and overcooked, but the mushroom sauce was nice. Came with a small biscuit. My mother ordered a ham sandwich which was actually a ham steak(I anticipated slices of ham), so that was a good surprise. Portions aren’t as large as I thought they’d be. You might or might not want to come here hungry if you want to pay more for just average food.

If I could give no stars, I would! This place is awful! My husband and I were at the Fort Worth Stockyards, hungry and sweaty, and looking for a good meal. We stopped here because of the smiles we saw on the exiting diners faces. So we go in, fairly good amount of people, and we sit down. When we ordered our food my husband asked what the mushroom burger had on it. The server was quite rude and said«well whatever any burger has in it and mushrooms» my husband just ordered that and we patiently waited a good while. We waited well over 40 minutes and were presented with the greasiest burger and my chicken strips. My fries were swimming in grease, soggy, and rather tasteless. We finished our mean and paid, the waitress looked at us and said«wait, no tip?» We promptly said no and left. The food was greasy, tasteless, overpriced and that server was entitled and incredibly rude. We wasted our money and we will not return.
