Standing in line and an ad comes on the store PA talking about how if there are more than 3 customers in line they’ll open a new lane. Three lanes open right now. All have at least five customers in line. Might wanna pull that ad off the in-store playlist.

I have called 6 times to different depts to try and talk with someone. No one answers and when I finally reached a woman in the bakery, she put me on hold and never came back. Where are the managers making sure that customers are taken care of?

I wanted to give a shoutout to George and John working tonight(Friday 3⁄11). It’s pretty busy, they seem short staffed and they’re hustling and busting their butts. I hope the manager recognizes their hard work!

The worst. Lines are crazy long, produce is typically old and on the verge of going bad, and the bakery is filthy — I’ve uploaded a molding fruit tart picture for reference.

Very disorganized deli. Employees do not take initiative to keep an organized customer line. A mass herd of hungry customers fight their way for service. No manager in sight. Employees working the back leaves an unfortunate one woman show deli person to fend for herself while they smile on :) Great team work!

Overall, I liked this store because it is nearby from where I live and convenient(I have come to FC Safeway since 2008). However, the waiting lines are always the issues here whenever I come here I have to wait at least 10mintues or so or even longer All the above were okay that I have still come for groceries this store for years. However, yesterday’s shopping experience forces me to write this review and have to say and hope them to improve the customer services for the future shoppers there. I went to for a grocery shopping yesterday as expected a lot of people for Holiday meals and long lines. Finally, after a long waiting, the cashier didn’t seem able to read my credit card last four digit number that she had to enter into the system to complete the transaction. I guess she has her own vision problem, I assume, but that was not the issues here. The issue was her inability of finishing her job properly because she couldn’t read numbers on my credit card when I showed it to her; even she couldn’t enter numbers when I read to her. And she was very rough with handling her that she snatched my credit card from my hands without asking me if she could have it for a moment. And then she brought it to another person to ask what is the numbers !!! I felt insecure and very disturbed… and unpleasant. I give two stars because the location of the store and convenient but the cashier’s rude customer service and long lines with low staff are certainly something they have to improve.

Lines here are ridiculous. The check out clerk took 20 mins to scan my ten items. Unfortunately, I live close to here and this is the most convenient grocery store for me

Lines are always insanely long whenever I come here — even to the point where it blocks off entrances into shopping aisles. I’ve seen people get frustrated here solely because the lines were never managed pretty well. You couldn’t tell where each line started or which cash register you were lining up for. And people shopping with carts would have to go all the way to the back of the store just to enter an aisle because the front was so crowded. Given that it’s holiday season, I understand that most grocery stores are starting to get more and more crowded. But this Safeway always has minimal employees working the floor to help people out or restock. Advice to management: hire more people during weekends and holiday season to get lines moving faster!

Boyfriend bought two of those Safeway pre made chicken tender sandwiches and they both had tiny rock-like whoknowswhat in them. They cracked between his teeth when he bit down. After he felt the first one in the first sandwich he tossed it and tried the second and the same thing happened. So obviously there’s a problem here. We weren’t able to see what it actually was but I would say it may be from not cleaning the produce. Possibly dirt from the lettuce. Officially grossed out.

This store is constantly under-staffed. It is normal to have one or two checkers during peak hours. I am in line now… only 7 carts away from the cashier. Save yourself some trouble and go to Lucky’s.

Sorry, just needing to vent here. I work close to this grocery store, so it was more convenient for me to come here. I bought a pack of raw boneless chicken last night for a sister store of Safeway, Pak’NSave. The package said use by 8/5, so it wasn’t expired. Once I opened the pack, there was a real bad«rotten egg» smell to it. So I go to the Safeway in Foster City, and brought the package back to them indicating that I purchased this the night before at Pak N Save and it smell like rotten eggs. The lady who was very nice, turned to the manager(i believe his name was Hazeem) and advised him of the situation. With my receipt in hand, the manager, told the clerk that there was nothing he can do and cannot accept the rotten chicken, because it wasn’t a Safeway branded store. Well, I asked the clerk if they were one company, and said yes, but you bought it from Pak N Save. I had no time to argue since I was headed to work so I left. Funny that on my receipt, the survey website says«WWW.SAFEWAYSURVEY.NET», then on another place of the receipt it says, «Let us hear from you at 877−723−3929 which is the SAFEWAY customer service center –or– visit«WWW.SAFEWAY.COM». Oh and by the way, I accumulate points on my Pak N Save purchases using my SAFEWAY Club Card! So why can’t you take accountability for your COMPANY selling rotten chicken? $ 6.16 is not a big deal to accommodate. I advised the clerk that I didn’t even want a refund. A credit, an exchange would be fine, but got denied by HAZEEM! Why? By the way, that whole«not being purchased from a Safeway branded store» is BS. Last year, I returned a 12 pack of soda from my local Pak N Save, because I bought the wrong one and got a full refund at VONS in Garden Grove. OWNED by SAFEWAY, purchased at PAK N SAVE, returned at VONS!

Have you ever seen fresh produce at this location? I haven’t. Found some moldy tomatoes though. Attempted to notify the manager, but none available. Stay away from the produce if you value your health.

This review is for the deli. The service is super slow here. I wanted to get some soup and two out of the four steel soup containers were empty at lunch time. I was made to wait for a good 15 mins after I told the cashier at the deli that the soups need to be filled in. I was looking for a quick grab and go lunch. Not so quick for me…

I think the night crew is more friendly & should work in the day. I don’t continue to do my produce shopping here due to the fact that day 2 my stuff starts to rott. My avacados are always brown and the amount of time it takes just to shop there is crazy . I go in at night and they’re stuff is scattered everywnere. I’ve tripped over tons of night shipping boxes & couldn’t even get to what I wanted to buy because so much of they’re restocking supplies were in the way. I’d say if you are going to shop here make it a quicker trip and go in the morning. Any time after 3 is crowded and noisy nuts. I’m never helped well enough here because noone ever shows me where things are. I think it’s an ok place to shop if you settle for average. Just don’t buy«fresh produce».

This is not my favorite Safeway. The parking lot is extremely narrow. Plenty of cars get banged here. They are frequently out of grocery carts. They also don’t replace their produce very frequently. I held off on purchasing brussel sprouts so that I could get them closer to my planned dinner. Much to my dismay when I returned 3 days later they were the same exact sprouts there, just less of them. I do appreciate that there is a grocery store in the neighborhood. I also appreciate that they maintain the Safeway standards as far as cleanliness.

I think it’s silly to review chain stores and restaurants — honestly, most of us know exactly what we’re getting into if we choose one. That being said, I decided to review this particular Safeway and give it a few stars just because their selection is bananas. I thought it was neat that they carried two flavors of Nando’s sauce, but I almost lost my mind when I saw longanisa and thousand year old egg here. Honestly, how baller is that?

Horrible produce and prices are insulting for past-prime offerings. I haven’t seen many competitive prices in this store. I find better with sales at Whole Foods and stand-alone produce stores.

safeway had lots of beers offered, even microbrews. long lines on xmas day. decided not to get in lines.(not a fan of lines). would have bought beer or a sammie(even the deli has 2 waiting with one server working), so i left emptyhanded.
