Regrettably they are closed d/t a fire. Idk when they will open again. There is always Shady Acres or The Gathering Place.

I’ve been through the area a few times over the last couple weeks and decided to stop. A little cramped for the time I went, but it was well worth it honestly. Ordered a chicken salad on a roll with bacon, and handcut fries. Everything was pretty good, nothing over the top crazy. Definitely worth a stop if you’re passing through and don’t want to go to a rest stop or try and find some place off the highway.

I was driving through the town and popped in for a bite, not expecting much from a random diner– I was pleasantly surprised. It was very clean, and the owner served me the best meatloaf I’ve had in a long time. The pie was also very good. I learned the new owner recently purchased the place and has been really been working on the food. I might just stop by again on my way back thru!

My cell wouldn’t let me do 3.5 stars, so I went to 4 because of great friendly service. Stopped mid-afternoon on a Sunday as passing by. Dead as a doornail, but the service was great(yah, yah, ladies were nice even though I’m a brat). Food– had the burger — BIG! And the serving of fries huge! Juicy, cooked just as I asked, and fries were also near perfectly well done like I asked for. Looking forward to Weds — have to pass by @ breakfast time!

For a floorshow, we watched a statie from RI pull over a weird tow rig with a giant machine behind that turned out to be a new cement chipper. The statie for some reason yelled at the drivers to come out and walk back to his car with their paperwork. As it turned out, the two drivers of the rig came into the diner right afterwards, and they related that trooper didn’t want to formally write them up(for some hauling permit issue) on the wrong side of the state line. The entertainment value of this episode actually made up for having Fox News blaring on the TV. The food was decent if not remarkable; big thumbs up for in-house-made freshcut fries though. The coffee cups were gigantic, the way I like them, and filled repeatedly. Perky service, and I was in a sea of regulars, too. I give the server complete props for being fantastic at her job. And yup, it’s an oldschool diner — not just the classic curved interior, but the circular seats were meant for the butts of 100 years ago, I could barely sit on them. Only one table at the end, although they put the kitchen in the back and not on the opposite side of the counter, it’s still pretty close to the original configuration of these prefabbed traincar style diners.

This place is really good and needs a 3.5 Stars. The staff is really friendly, the portions are really large and the price is perfect. The front is also traditional diner… so this should be on your list of places to try. So Bob, why not 4 or 5 like the other reviewers? Well, being the Diner snob that I am, let me tell you why. First, there are better so that removes it from 5 stars. The corned beef hash is canned, so that impacts my rating. It is also a really good typical diner, meaning there is nothing that is unique on the menu aside from Biscuits and Gravy, for the southerners out there. Lastly, 3 stars is not a bad thing. This place is worth going to and it will accommodate larger parties in its new larger dinning room in the back. So it is better than 3 but just not quite up to the 4. To me, if it were 4 stars, I would make an effort to go there often and drive out of my way to go there. As it is, I would go there is I were say near Johnston, but not Providence. So to the food: I had the Hungry Man special. 2 pancakes, 2 bacon, 2 sausage, 2 eggs, home-fries and coffee for about 7 bucks. Everything was really good and cooked wonderfully. I had a couple of biscuits as well. They say they are homemade, but to be honest I would equate that to being made from scratch, which I don’t think they were, but they were okay.

We were starving as we were heading for a weekend in the Berkshires and of course pulled out the phone and started Unilocaling away. This cute place is right on 6, yep, you got it, right before you hit the CT state line! Not much to look at from the road(diner has been covered by red painted wood), but inside lots of vintage tile and stainless steel everywhere. Oh yeah, there’s no real sign by the road, you kind of have to know what you’re looking for! Small sign on the front of the building. I think there are new owners and they need to fix small issues like that. Placing was hopping — it was Friday and lunchtime. Lots of takeout. Dining area is mostly counter and a few tables, pretty small. It looks like there is going to be a back dining area soon. They need it. One down side is they only had one lady serving and she was crazy busy. Took a few minutes for her to even notice we had sat down and were waiting. Once she«found» us though, everything was fine, she took good care of us. We both had the fish special — I had the sandwich and he had the dinner. The fish was very fresh and cooked well — still moist inside. I wasn’t a huge fan of the coating though, a little too mushy for my taste. But nothing BAD, just a little soft. The edges had a nice crunch to them. Portions were very generous. For the fries, you could get standard or fresh cut. We chose the fresh cut and they were good. Not great. They needed an extra minute or so in the oil to really be done. They weren’t raw by any means, just a little firm still. Slaw was very good. The prices were reasonable and the other patrons were a hoot. Be prepared to be drawn into jokes, conversation, you name it! The waitress said breakfast is served all day and the prices looked good also, we’ll definitely be back.

Visited this diner last Saturday based on the previous Unilocal(thanks Unilocalers). It’s a nice old diner in good condition and has a real warm and friendly atmosphere to it. Exactly what I’m looking for in a diner. It’s all right here. The new owners are off to a great start here. I had a veggie omelet, h/fries with onions(optional), a side of kielbasa, toast and many cups of really good coffee. Everything was fabulous, the portions are huge, and the prices a good too! I barely finished it all and I never did have lunch that day, as it was that filling. Paid my compliments to the cook, got a smile, a thank you and a hearty handshake and was on my way down the road a satisfied guy. This one’s a keeper!
