Worst customer service I have received in a really long time at a restaurant. I paid close to $ 100 for two people, although the portions were large I have received better customer service from fast food joints. Our server was Jennifer, she was nice but she was absent from our table for pretty much the entire time except the beginning to take our food order, the 2nd time to bring out the drink orders, and the 3rd time for the check. Every visit in between took about 10 years and our drink order wasn’t even taken until 15 minutes after the hostess sat us down. By the time we got there it was around 8:45PM, it had pretty much already died down. I understand that it was a Friday night and it was busy but for what I paid and what an establishment that Claim Jumper claims to be I was not impressed and probably won’t be coming back here anytime soon. This restaurant needs to get its act together. To top it all off my friend and I overheard Jennifer telling a busboy that she hasn’t been giving great service all night to any of her tables. Clearly, she didn’t feel the need to address the issue of poor service while at work.

Came here and service was great, food came out a bit slow but they handed us endless rounds of cheese bread lol. I do appreciate them bringing out the food together. The manager Arnold, I swear, is trying to fatten us up, can’t complain. He really took care of us with complimentary dessert. Lovely time, always at claim jumper.

Server Ryan Ferman was fantastic, and Jennifer S and let’s not forget Ferman My mom grandma and my son came for brunch I just had major surgery and Ryan was so helpful. And Jennifer S was so sweet to listen to me babble on how for 2days i stared out my hospital window staring claim jumper sign at night while eating the hospital food which was pretty good I still wanted some jumper in my diet The only issue i did have was the 2 steps Just got out of hospital after a major abdominal hysterectomy surgery was the two steps but thanks to my knight in shining armor Fermin who helped carry my plates and guide me upstairs Thanks claim. jumper for all the nice service best ever

The only person who deserves a good rating here is Brian, who was the coolest guy ever when i took my sister there for her birthday. Apparently everyone else who works there, at least whoever works the friday night shifts, are homophobic morons. If you’re going to be rude to two perfectly well behaved gay men, maybe you should move to f*cking Kentucky where you will fit in better. Grow up. Rednecks.

Had lunch here after a trip to RifleGear. I was really looking for a sandwich, so I opted for the Tri Tip Dip, half order of wings(don’t hate, I didn’t have breakfast) and Grapefruit Honey Mule(CJs spin on a Moscow Mule). Wings were tangy but not overly spicy. Sandwich was good but was a cheesy gooey mess; also had those super thin shoestring-style fries. Seating at that bar is really low and the ergonomics were a bit off(they had brass bars under the bar and in front of the armrest). Bartender was pleasant and attentive; seeing as there were only a few of other patrons present, but it did pick up when I left. $ 31.31, sans tip.

I dropped by this Claim Jumper after not eating at one for over 7 years. Our waitress Jennifer was really welcoming and nice. I ordered the Tri-tip medium rare. It came out looking well done. Jennifer immediately noticed and asked if I wanted a new one. I said yes. When the new one came out, the manager, Arnold, came with it to see if it was cooked to my liking. I said yes. After taking a bite, I realized how extremely salty the glaze was. Again Jennifer noticed and was on top of it and asked if I wanted something else. By then I was no longer hungry after eating our appetizers all up. My spinach salad was delicious. The fried calamari was great. When I got the bill, Arnold came over to apologize and said the Tri-tip was on him and I could order something else if I wanted to. What great customer service! It’s so refreshing to see that after all these years, Claim Jumper still has amazing customer service. They are the Nordstroms of restaurants!

Ask for ryan! Best waiter I’ve ever come across. He’s fun and very attentive without being that annoying waiter type. I came for the Sunday brunch which ryan recommended instead of the regular menu and i don’t regret any of it. Everything was delicious. It’s a great bargain for what you get, endless mimosas and breakfast/brunch buffet. Tip ryan fat, hes a great guy!

We recently stopped by here for happy hour on a mid-week night. We used to come here with our kids, but hadn’t been here in about 15 years. Way back when, we remember this as a good place. Sorry to say, our experience last week was nowhere near our memories. We sat in the bar to have a couple drinks and appetizers. First off, the service was a bit on the slow side, and they weren’t busy. The bar was maybe half full. But we finally did get someone to bring us menus and take our drink order. Found out the draft beer system was completely out… had been out for 2 – 3 days, and would continue to be out for a couple more. Oh, and the selection of bottle beer was down to just a few choices. So right off the bat, I’m getting a bad vibe. What kind of place would allow their draft beer to be out that long, AND not at least keep the bottled beer stocked to the max to make up for no tap beer? We ordered a sampler platter to eat. Now, I remember Claim Jumper food used to be known for two things: Huge portions, and very tasty and good quality eats. This sampler platter was neither of those things. A modest portion(which is okay, given it was a happy hour deal low price), and nothing was really good. Not the wings, or the potato skins, or the potato pancakes. Food wasn’t terrible… it just reminded me of what I’d get at any cheap sports bar. All the appetizers tasted like what you’d buy frozen at the grocery store and heat up at home. Most definitely not what I was expecting at Claim Jumper. To be fair, we did not sit in the dining area and did not have a full meal. But, based on happy hour, safe to say we won’t be going back here. Very sad when I think about what Claim Jumper used to be, but now I understand why so many of their locations have gone out of business.

«We don’t birthday songs.» That’s what the cocky waiter said to me in the douchiest tone possible before turning around and talking to the rest of the waiters when I asked him if they did birthday songs. I just finished a nice ribeye steak with salads with my friend and went over to the group of waiters to see if they could do something for my friend’s birthday. Thankfully the waiter for my table, Nicholai, was nice enough to get us a cupcake without any jackass attitude like the other guy and even covered the cupcake up with a take out tray to disguise it. 16 oz ribeye to split with two salads came out 38 bucks after tax, reasonable and tasted like a medium rare steak should. Their birthday cake is red velvet and not as sweet as usual desserts –nice!

My daughter had her high school graduation here years ago, it was really amazing then, the chain that owned this restaurant has changed ownership several times, things were never the same ever since. The food was too pre packaged, tasted plastic, luckily the drinks were still good. The sliders used to have delicious tritip. Now it’s dried out burgers, the nachos were not edible, I missed the 6pm early bird dinner specials. The ambiance was still cozy so I rate this a 3 stars but I’m not coming back here,

Let me start by saying, we like claim jumper’s just NOT this location! Salad bar was not properly stocked(missing… romaine, and bacon bits… last time I checked romaine is the bulk of the salad). Our table was not balanced; it creaked with our every move… Our server– Michael– didn’t bring us cheese bread/loaf which is complementary with your meals… I asked about it and he acted ignorant by asking«what bread?». I reminded him the cheese bread and he said oh it was burned in the kitchen so I just didn’t bring any. Funny, the other tables got bread and it wasn’t burned. The food was not as good as other locations – specifically temecula! If you want CJ drive to temecula; don’t waste your time with this place. $ 56 total and feel ripped off; bad service & lame excuses.

Mehh… Given this place a couple of tries and not satisfied at all. I used to remember Claim Jumper for their portions and their appetizers but the portions have gotten smaller and the appetizers have become sub-par. Perhaps it’s just this location but i still wont be going to another Claim Jumper any time soon. The drinks are ok, but overpriced, the Caesar salad i ordered last time didnt taste like Caesar at all, and the French Dip Sandwich i ordered had wayyy too much salt. The service was good, pretty much the only good part of the meal, but i was disappointed for sure. I wouldnt waste my time on this place. My $.02

Came in with friends last night after an intense basketball/lifting session at the LA Fitness across the street. It was an awesome experience. So apparently at this location happy hour extends to a specific period of time in the night. We came in around 10 pm and it was happy hour! Awesome! Everyone ordered an assortment of different food but from wings to mozzarella stick, boneless wings, and the widow-maker burger. The one thing that stands out at Claim Jumper is how huge the food items always are. Large potions are common here so bring an apetite. Personally, I had some fries and a few wings. The wings — in terms of flavor — were absolutely delicious. They were a decent size and the perfect combination of spicy, tangy, and juicy. One criticism would have to be that I would’ve liked if the wings were crispier! The shoestring fries are great as well. My friends loved the burgers and the service was top notch! Felt right at home. Totally amazing friendly service :)

Great service from Ashley tonight. We know this Claim Jumper from many visits in the past, and tonight we could not be happier. We were seated right away and after looking at the extensive menu, I decided to have the chicken pot pie with fruit, and a trip to the salad bar. Plenty of greens and toppings can be heaped on your plate and then drizzle that thick and hot bacon dressing over the salad. Got to love your self made salad! The chicken pot pie is double crusted filled with savory carrots and potatoes and tender cubed white meat chicken filled all the way to the top. At first glance you wonder about the tastiness of this pie and wether it stood up to the Mary Callander brand. The first bite breaking thru the pastry brown crust into the juicy gravy filled warm goodness of the chicken and vegetables and I’m hooked! Wished I had taken it easy on the salad because this chicken pot pie was scrumptiously delicious and I had doubts to see the bottom of the dish. I was getting enough and it is really a large well rounded meal. Well I made it and enjoyed it and recommend it to those that haven’t tried it yet.

I came to this Claim Jumper for a private party and I was pleasantly surprised. There were about a dozen of us and we all ordered different entrees and a few appetizers. The décor of this restaurant is a bit outdated, I agree with others who say its sort of like a Black Angus or a Sizzler restaurant. Its old school early 1980s nostalgia. However, the food was actually not bad. My favorite dishes that we had at this restaurant are the following: 1. Spinach cheese and artichoke dip — Its a warm melted cheese bowl served with tortilla chips and some other chips to dip into the hot mixture. They also give you a giant loaf of warm garlic bread when you wait for your food, so the dip tasted good spread over this bread. 2. Entrée– Tri Tip and Roasted chicken. The trip tip comes with a nice BBQ sauce and its fork tender. I ordered it medium well and it was pretty tasty. The meat was lean and char broiled on the edges and it just melted in your mouth with every bite. The roasted chicken had a nice robust herb flavor and even the skin was a bit crispy and tasty. 3. Dessert– The Mother lode. If you know, then you know! Its the legendary 9 layer chocolate cake with the most tasty fudge icing and infused with chopped walnuts and soft chocolate cake. I know this Claim Jumper feels like you are stuck back in time, but the food is pretty good. The happy hour has decent prices, and make sure you come with a large group of friends!

I’ve only been to Claim Jumper once before this, and that was in the early 2000’s. Only reason we decided to go here was because we had been given a gift card. Food: I opted to get the roasted tri tip with coconut shrimp, shoestring fries, roasted veggies, and a trip to the salad bar. The tri tip was dry, the coconut shrimp was overcooked to a burnt dark brown. The fries would have been good if they weren’t overly salted. In fact, everything was salty. My husband’s clam chowder, my mother in law’s jambalaya pasta were all salty. My husband also got the baby back ribs, which had the meat burnt off on top so it had very little meat on it. The best thing I had was the salad bar because it wasn’t as salty and was decent, so that’s where one star comes from. I left here with a big headache from the sodium shock. Service: P Service was good so I gave another star for that. Very friendly servers. Only problem was that they took a while to take our orders and we has to wave them down a few times to get stuff. Overall impression: I would not go back and it is not anything I would crave. Food is way too salty for my palate. I’m just glad we had a gift card instead of spending our money.

I went to a pre-planned dinner in the banquet room with about 24 other people. The tables were already set when we got there. Water was already on the table and soft drinks were served. The champagne was filled for the toast. Bread baskets came to the table. That cheese bread alone is something I’d go to Claim Jumper for. It’s so yeasty, soft, cheesy, and warm and doesn’t even need butter on it to be good but there’s unlimited butter served along with it. Salad was good. Ranch and balsamic vinegar was placed on the table. It had mushrooms and was fresh. I got the meatloaf and mashed potatoes. The meatloaf was huge and came with 2 pieces of meatloaf, some mashed potatoes, and vegetables. Meatloaf was seasoned well, a little too much seasoning for my taste but not too much for it to be unappetizing. The vegetables on the plate helped even out the saltiness of the meatloaf and when I ran out of the vegetables I found myself reaching over to my cousin’s dish of pasta since it was creamy. I would have gotten the bowtie chicken pasta if I’d known how salty the meatloaf was going to be. The chocolate motherlode cake was sliced and served. It was sweet and decadent and dense and the most perfect chocolate cake that I’ve ever had. When I imagine a prototype of chocolate cake it would look and taste like that one. Some other people hardly touched the cake because they’re not into cake to start with but I’m into cake so I know my cake. Claim Jumper gets slept on. In other words it’s underestimated. I haven’t been to Claim Jumper in 8 years so I’m guilty of it too but the tasty food will have me craving and returning here quicker than the 8 year gap that I previously had. PS. The rumchata shot was extremely grossly sweet to the point that I felt like I needed an insulin shot.

Over the years, I’ve disliked chain restaurants more and more. If I go to claim jumpers, it’s usually the south coast location but I recently attended a lunch here with a huge group. This location seems dated. The food experience was mediocre. I had some kind of chicken bowtie pasta and it was barely lukewarm when it was served. It looked like the pasta was just plopped on a plate in mass quantities. I ate half of my plate and couldn’t finish. I will have to say the service was very friendly.

Holy Terrible Service Batman! Took over 35 minutes after ordering just to get the salad; then the entrees came out 30 seconds later, so I got to choose between letting my salad get warm while I ate my burger, or letting my burger get cold while I finished my salad. I ordered a beer before my food came and didn’t get it until after I’d finished my meal, then it was the wrong beer. When I told the server it was the wrong beer, and to just cancel it because I’d already finished my dinner, he put on the bill that I sent it back because I «didn’t like it». My friend had to ask for her drink twice before she finally got it. Food was decent, but the service chased me away. Now I know why it wasn’t crowded, and why I won’t be back.

LOCATION: Corner of Brookhurst/Beach, which I didn’t know was Fountain Valley! It’s in the same plaza as Afters Ice Cream. AMBIANCE: This Claim Jumper is surprisingly large and convoluted! I specifically was in the banquet room for a special lunch event, and it was also surprisingly nice and larger than expected. The hall definitely fit around 6 – 8 round tables that seat around 8 – 9 people. There is also a podium and microphone. FOOD: Rather than servers, we got our own food similar to a buffet line. There were two salads, of which I chose the Caesar with a creamy balsamic and quite liked. There was 3 – 4 different types of sliced sandwiches, and my favorite was the egg salad with walnuts on a cheesy focaccia-like bread. There was also two types of dessert, cookies and brownies, but I opted out. Overall, I think this Claim Jumper is good for accommodating a very, very large party of around 50 people. Since it’s a chain, it doesn’t seem like it would break the bank either. Nothing super impressive, but I was pleased for it being a comp lunch :).

CJ used to be the place to go for a special occasion, it was one of those special chain restaurants that always delivered with good food and great service. Now it seems it’s in the same category as a Sizzler, Black Angus or Acupalco’s, a chain that is stuck in the past. Came here for Sunday brunch – nothing other than something that was bready(pancakes, waffles) tasted good. I wasn’t too surprised since this is a chain restaurant. The omelettes were off, and salad gets old after a while. They had a bunch of lunch options, but something about seeing and smelling the lunch options at 9am weirded me out, I was smelling chicken dumplings, prime rib, and enchiladas at the same time :/ I would give the food 2 stars and the service 5 stars. I did like the service, the waitresses and GM were very pleasant, and here is my tip for CJ– look at what Olive Garden, and CPK did with a re-brand, and it’s why they are always packed come dinner time.

Okay, when I go out to dinner, I’m spending my hard earned income on something that I hope is prepared correctly and that the food is quality. Especially when it’s a special occasion or when I splurge, or when the moons and planets align, and I splurge on a special occasion. Now on April 15th we all know that this is a special day, and we usually don’t go out to dinner because we are broke from paying our taxes. Well for me, it was the last day for me to spend my $ 25 birthday gift from the Landry’s Customer Rewards Program. So, my wife, daughter, and myself jumped into the car to spend my gift, and I was going to splurge. I thought to myself, I’m going to order the bone-in Porterhouse Steak(it was $ 31 over the $ 25) cooked medium with melted garlic butter. I could just see that nice pinkish center. I was ready. Now as a barbecue fanatic, I know that a steak has to be cut evenly so that one side of the steak doesn’t cooks faster than the other. I also know that the Porterhouse steak is two steaks in one, a filet side and a strip side. So, when my steak arrives it looks okay with the little wooden stick that says medium. I start on the filet side, and it’s cooked to perfection, just what I asked for. And dinner with my family was going gratifying well. Conversations were spellbinding. Then I noticed something, the strip side was half as thick. So when I cut into it, «Over done it was.» as Master Yoda would say. My patent leather shoe would have tasted better. So we called the waiter over and showed him the steak, and he agreed with me. So, he needed to get the manager. By the time he arrived the rest of the family has completed their meals. What really upset me, was manager acted like it was my fault because I didn’t bring to their attention earlier. No matter what, the rest of the party would have completed their meal by the time they refired another steak for me and I didn’t want them to allow their food to get cold waiting for my meal to be revoked. Now the manager was nice enough to comp my meal, but the situation should have never happened in a restaurant of this caliber. Now maybe at a Norms or Spires, but not CJ. I also received a survey and I was honest. So I received a call from someone who I couldn’t understand, who I couldn’t hear their name, and didn’t leave a phone number. Maybe they were all upset because they had to pay taxes, but don’t take it out on me. Now, I know I wrote a lot and you are asking yourself«Why did you give them two stars?» We ordered as an appetizer called«STUFFEDBBQSHRIMPENBROCHETTE.» If you never tried them, you have to. I will leave it there.

So many problematic things about this location. A few months ago, the husband and I decided to visit. Although we went at an off hour, the service was incredibly slow. It took us 40 minutes to get seated, and then another 20 minutes to get served. Once we were finally waited upon, we tried to order steak, but were told that they were out of the cuts we wanted. Ok, fine. We ended up ordering ribs instead. After ordering, it took another 30 minutes to get the food. When the ribs came out, they were burnt. Not only that, but my husband’s potatoes were ice cold. When we called over the server, they were apologetic, and did take give us new ones, but at that point, it had already been a terribly long time. The flavor of the food was rather bland as well. Still, we figured that maybe it had been an off night. This month, I decided to go back and try again. This time – ACK!!! My friend and I both ordered salads, thinking it would be easier and less complicated. I asked for dressing on the side, and when it came, it was fully dressed, with EXTRA dressing on the side. My friend had ordered the same thing, and this is where things get unpleasant… He found a long, black HAIR in his salad. So incredibly not OK. I will never be visiting this establishment again.

My first time at a Claim Jumper and the vibe was relaxed while the crowd was older retired folk. Customer service was about a 3⁄5: waiter was new and very clear as he spoke with us. Knocked off two points because it took a good while for just out beers to come out and we were not served water until about 20 minutes in to being there. Some parts of the dinner were slow while some were quick and showed no smooth flow. Don’t get me wrong service wasn’t bad but could’ve been better. The appetizer gets a 4⁄5: can’t go wrong with spinach dip and warm tortilla strips. The comp bread was ok, pretzel cheese bread. My bf got the sliders which were decent and I unfortunately got the salty tenderloin plate with roasted veggies and mashed potatoes. The potatoes seemed made from real potato except the fact that they overly salted it! The tenderloin sauce, mushrooms and sautéed onions were also overly salted. I was so sad… I was looking forward to my dinner. The roasted veggies were the only decent part of the plate. I should’ve went with the bbq chicken salad I was gonna choose in the first place. We had the blue Chimay and those were good brews. Overall my experience for now is only a 3 star but I will give it another chance because the menu selection here has a few things that interest me. We will see if I find something I can enjoy. Next time Claim Jumper!
