I’m a sucker for broken rice. I don’t know why, but I absolutely love it. Since I can’t find any com thit nuong that serves broken rice in northern NJ or in Chinatown, I always end up having some sort of com thit nuong while I’m in Cali. I love the com tam bi cha thit nuong. And such a good deal, less than $ 12 for an entrée that’ll fill you up. While this place might not be traditional/authentic, it sure satisfies my Viet-American appetite. My dad usually orders the steamed chicken with the steamed chicken rice whenever we’re here. The restaurant is spacious and clean. It’s always a short drive for me since I tend to stay at the Marriott on Harbor Blvd.

They have just about everything(including the kitchen sink) on their menu when it comes to Vietnamese cuisine. You can’t go wrong with their rice dishes. I really enjoy their shrimp and fried shrimp cake dish which comes with rice. If you’re very hungry, you can choose to add other items such as pork. The«wraps» are also delicious– you choose your meat and it comes with a garden of greens, which you use to wrap your meat. You thought opening presents is nice. No, wrapping them then eating them is much better. 2 people can eat very tasty home cooked meal for less than $ 20. If your version of a good deal is a 2 for $ 20 deal at some«bar and grill» that serves«queso dip» and«Monterrey chicken», well, good luck! Also, important to note. Disregard all the crybabies reviewing this place who complain of the service. «Ah wah wah wah, the server didn’t give me a silver spoon and wipe my butt.» People, you’re paying $ 8 for a hearty dinner! Don’t expect your feet to be massaged… you can get that done next door =)

This is my go-to place for broken rice. I only ate once in here with my mom and I don’t remember about the service so let’s just say the service is good enough haha However the broken rice plates? Unforgettable!

It was a broken rice kinda Sunday. So I went here for dinner. My go to is the Com tam bi cha thit nuong(broken rice with grilled pork, steamed egg, and julienne pork served with fish sauce). The grilled pork is tender and flavorful. Fish sauce compliments the entrée very well. Portion sizes are decent. A must try is the egg rolls. Yummy! Crispy and not greasy. It comes in six with lettuce, herbs, and cucumber. You can have it as an appetizer to share. Or even make it an entrée. Food is excellent! Service is below average as the servers are not attentive. Most of the time you have to walk up to front counter to request something. I would still eat here again!

This review is getting a 2.5 Stars for the food but I’ll round it up to 3 Stars for the service. Note to self — Don’t come too late in the evening! I was down the street at a viewing and was starving and had a craving for some egg rolls. This was the closets restaurant to where I was so we ended up here. We ordered the following items: 01. #10 — Cha Gio(Vietnamese Egg Rolls — 6 Piece) $ 6.75 — 3 Stars — This was hot and yummy, I like the textured wraps on these egg rolls, it has a bit of a rough texture vs. the traditional smooth wrap. I prefer these over the traditional ones. I always get these when I visit here. Can’t ever go wrong with their egg rolls EVEN at this late in the evening. 02. #55 — Com Thit Nuong(Not on the menu but it’s just Rice w/BBQ Pork) $ 6.50 — 2.5 Stars — I know it’s becuz we came so late, the rice was hard and dry. The pork was a bit chewy where it’s normally not the case. We fixed the issue, dump the rice in the complimentary soup and it makes it much easier to go down. 03. #41 — Bun Thit Nuong Tau Hu Ky(Rice Stick Shrimp Cake &BBQ Pork) $ 7.75 — 3 Stars — This is much better than the rice. Maybe we should’ve all ordered noodles instead of the rice for our entrees. Now we know what to do if we ever end up here late again. The Shrimp Cake was a bit chewy and dry as well. The Pork was a bit chewy too. 04. #54 — Com Tam Bi Cha(Rice w/Shredded Pork Skin & Egg Cake) $ 5.50 — 2 Stars — The worst dish tonight. The Egg Cake portion was a tiny piece. Normally the portion of the Egg Cake is much larger. I was so disappointed. The Shredded Pork Skin was chewy, didn’t taste so fresh. Usually the Shredded Pork Skin is a mixture of the skin and the actual Pork meat but tonight it was mostly Pork Skin, hence it was very chewy. Remember to come during regular business hours and not an hour before closing. I frequent this restaurant often so I know that their food is not this bad but I am thinking it’s becuz we came so late. I’m going to believe that was the reason and I’ll come back and try it again in the future to see if the quality of their food has changed. BONUS — Their customer service is always great. There’s 2 guys that I see all the time and they speak perfect English and are so attentive and personal, Since that was our«Plus» tonight, they are getting a round up on the rating!
