I have been to Full Moon multiple times and have yet to be disappointed. The sushi is fresh and reasonably priced. I typically get sashimi which varies in availability and is priced anywhere from $ 7.50 to $ 9.50 for a decent amount. My favorite roll is the El Jalapeño which is always made with a fresh Jalapeño. The restaurant gets busy for dinner which sometimes results in a wait for your order.

If you’re just craving sushi and don’t care for the higher end establishments, this is the place. Sushi and rolls are reasonably priced and their combos are hard to beat. I crave for their volcano rolls every so often.

This is not my favorite sushi place, but it’s okay. They’re always really busy, but they have good lunch specials. I usually order to go, because it is quite a small establishment and they are always busy. I suggest ordering ahead of time, otherwise you’ll be waiting a little while.

More like 3.5 but I couldnt give the lean to 4. The woman wanted to dine at a restaurant her friend recommended. I wasn’t in the mood for Japanese but oh well. Unfortunately, she couldn’t remember the name. She thought it was this restaurant. She ended up being wrong. We tried a couple of chicken appetizers that were believed recommended from her friend. Sesame and teriyaki. The sesame chicken tasted like saturated oil and the teriyaki tasted only like teriyaki sauce. I ordered a crunchy roll dinner which was just okay. She ordered some salmon nigiri and a salmon skin hand roll. She said they were good. Service was above average. The high point is price here. The nigiri sushi is pretty cheap. Two pieces of salmon for $ 2.50. Uni is $ 4. Ambiance: 3 Quality: 3 Service: 4 Value: 4

I really like the food here! The menu is simple and straight forward with great combination specials. Their Ameibi(sp?) is amazing! They fry the head AND tail. I’ve been to many other places that only fry the head. The average star rating is for service — It’s friendly but slow. I feel like it’s at least 30 mins. until part of your order hits the table. Same with take out — you call in, they say 20 — 30 mins and you get there and it’s still not ready and sometimes not busy so I don’t get it? But I can’t quit them lol Good place if you have time to kill!

This is a new review from me, I don’t know if there’s a new owner, or this place is under new management or something… We were seated immediately, we had to wait 15 minutes to receive our beverage orders, another 15 to receive our edamame, and the new waiter that is a Caucasian is bi polar or something because his mood changed with every trip to the table… We felt like we were impeding on his break… The whole time we were eating here… This was our family lunch spot 2 – 3 times a week now we hardly come in and every time we come back we remember why… This has never been a kabuki caliber restaurant but we frequented this restaurant because of the friendly studious service, affordable pricing, and tasty food… Without the service it’s just another hole in the wall sushi restaurant in a sea of them here in Orange County…

This is one of my favorite sushi places to go to. I live really close to here so whenever we want sushi we just drive over there. The Bake Salmon Roll is the best roll their is. The servers are nice and friendly but it takes a while to get them to take ur order and get ur food. They are very nice though, always walking around asking if we need anything. But what do I know, I’m 12.

Before arriving last night, we decided to give them a call just to make sure of their closing time and to see how long the wait would be. They estimated the wait time to be about 35 minutes. We decided to go anyways. It is now 8. Upon entering, we were not greeted. It wasn’t even busy. We put our name down and took a seat on the couch. It took them 5 minutes to even acknowledge we were there(no one even checked the list). Tables for 2 are EXTREMELY small. We were placed in between two other tables for 2. I’m glad the restaurant wasn’t crowded or else I would just feel claustrophobic. We were seated and automatically were asked for our drink order. It took about 10 minutes till we placed our food order. It took another 25 until our first order came out. We ordered the –ebi yaki(like takoyakis but with shrimp) 4 for $ 3.95 –spider roll $ 8.95 –baked salmon roll –2 orders of the salmon sushi The ebi yaki came out first. Disappointed in their presentation(wish my phone wasnt dying so I could take pictures). It was in the black basket that they usually put their calamari in. It had one piece of lettuce on one side. And then the 4 balls on the other. There was no drizzle of mayo like takoyakis. The brown sauce on the top was lacking. A sprinkle of seaweed and that was it. The balls were lacking flavor. The shrimp inside was overcooked and the size of about a quarter. I asked for a side of spicy mayo and eel sauce. The eel sauce was runny. And the«spicy mayo» was a side of mayo and sriracha. I have NEVER been asked to make my own spicy mayo. And I have NEVER been charged for it either($.50 surprise charge when the bill came out). But since it wasn’t already mixed I at least could dip my flavor-lacking ebiyaki in it. After about 10 minutes, the spider roll came out. Some pieces were didn’t have the soft shell crab in it. The cucumber in each piece fell out which made my roll fall apart each time I tried to eat it. Also lacking in sauce, thank goodness for the extra eel sauce I asked for! After about 5 minutes the salmon dishes we ordered came out on one plate. The food runner just pushed all the other plates to my left and placed it on the right. He pushed our waters and individual plates to make everything fit. We had to rearrange our whole table after he left so we could eat comfortably and not be so crammed! The salmon bake roll is one of the worst I ever had. It was extremely tiny. There was mayo all over it. It was a good size… but who would want to eat more of something not even appetizing. The salmon sushi was also not as crisp in color(obviously not the freshest it could be). And the cuts were small as well. We finished our meal and it took another 10 minutes till we could flag down a worker for our bill. Our bill came out to be $ 27. It wasn’t even on a printed receipt. All we had was the servers notes on what we ordered with a rounded up price next to it. I should have taken a picture of it or at least made sure of the prices while I was there. But I didn’t. Obviously it was still wrong to an extent because none of their food items were exact dollar amounts on the menu like presented on our bill.(This happened to my party of 8 before and we had to ask for an official printed receipt). Probably never coming here again.

I came here with a party of four tonight for dinner. We were seated after a 30 minute wait(which is pretty normal for a Sunday evening). I was so hungry I literally could have eaten a whole cow! A good hike earlier next to the beach had us all starving so we were looking forward to our meal. The food was really good. I ordered the chicken and teriyaki combo plate with the baked scallops and yellow tail jalapeño roll. Everything was really tasty. The baked scallop however was nothing too special, but the yellowtail roll was so fresh! I shared mine initially but we decided to order a second one because of how good it was :) My only issue with this place is ALWAYS the service. I didn’t want it to reflect too much on this post because of how good the food was, but please be aware of it! Initially it took almost 15 minutes to just bring water to our tables. That irked me a bit, but I decided to overlook it for the time being. Secondly, we had no wasabi or soy sauce bowls at our table, nor any ginger. That’s very abnormal for any sushi spot. I had to go up and request some. Thirdly, our waitress was non existent– and the strange part is that the place was not packed what so ever once we were seated. We rarely saw our waitress. The three stars is for the service. The food I would rate it a four stars. I’ll have to try out the spot in Tustin to see if the service is better. Plenty of parking, it’s never an issue. Family friendly!

So far off to a great start with plenty of parking spaces and no long wait! We were not greeted when we came in but my boyfriend and I didn’t care because we knew how busy the workers were. We were seated immediately though. My favorite thing here is the baked scallop! I love how it’s not overly drenched and baked with mayo and the scallop portion is very generous. I never really orders actual sushi here but always rolls. I’ve been getting the same boring roll like the dragon rolls because their eel is so delicious. The rolls always look bigger here to me. This is not the best sushi joint but for the price and the service, it’s not that bad. It’s a place for you to just come in to get a quick craving fixed and out you go. Can’t complain right?

Full Moon definitely reminds me of high school days — it was the go to spot for sushi. Since then I’ve found other sushi places that I’d much rather eat at but still go to Full Moon for its convenience and proximity to home. My favorites here to order are: poke salad and the volcano roll. Their full moon specials are a good deal and pretty inexpensive. I’ve frequented full moon a lot, both to go and dine in, but last night I came and nearly waited an hour to get my food. We came in around 8pm on a Sunday night, got seated right away. All their tables were pretty much full so their kitchen was slammed. One of the workers who usually is a server had to work at the sushi bar to help. I’m usually very patient and understanding but I felt like making the food chronologically as the tickets come in seems really inefficient. There were about 3 tickets ahead of my table — we ordered the full moon special, 2 orders of salmon, 2 orders of the volcano roll, and a rainbow roll. I would have expected them to make the rainbow roll and salmon first since those items are raw and don’t require cooking, but instead we sat there sipping on water for an hour… which was really frustrating. I accept that maybe it was just a fluke that this happened, it probably won’t stop me from eating here again. My only tip here is if you’re going to get a volcano roll, order it early because it seems like they only have one conventional oven and can only make one at a time and it typically takes more than 10 minutes for a roll since it’s baked.

This used to be the best sushi this but the staff attitude going down fast. Will not return to a place where people mistreat you. You should check with your staff and make sure they are treating people with respect Very very rude. I turn my sister’s on to this place nephews nieces cousins and friends come here on a regular basis. They have been telling me that they’ve been having bad experiences as well and considering not going there anymore. The last time I came my friend was served and was done eating an entire poki bowl while I waited patiently for my food and it never came for like 15 minutes so my friend asked if I could get my food she ended up having to leave me sit there by myself to eat my lunch. The female sushi chef seem to not care at all

This is the local spot for my friends and I to go because it was right by Fountain Valley High School. This was the place to be but the sushi quality was not great. Sushi seemed soggy a couple times I’ve went. The service has gotten better than before. Kitchen is a bit slow, I waited over 25 minutes before I was served last two times.

I come here for their Volcano Roll which never disappoints. They have to bake it so expect this item to take awhile. It’s baked in mayo and scallops in case you were wondering. Their Full Moon Special is a great deal but the entrée meat is nothing to brag about. I always get the crunchy roll with the Full Moon Special. It’s tasty and simple. The fish is not the best here so their cooked items are better. This place is also conveniently located in a shopping plaza so you can take care of your other errands. I’ve tried their Costa Mesa location too and they are consistent in the way the items are prepared so you can’t lose going to either.

I’ve been here three times for lunch. I’ve had a Bento box which was great & more than enough for two(ladies). I’ve also had crunch roll which was yum yum. Fish quality is excellent which is so so important. Both times I’ve paid around $ 12 with a drink. Very reasonable for sushi lunch.

First try is a bust. If you want to get sick, try the salmon teriyaki. From the best I can assess, it was sitting out too long, then cut and put into portion plastic bags, frozen, then unfrozen in the microwave too long to a point that it gels, then grilled. It looked great, but the stomach sickness of such an event is not good, quite bad. It also took for ever to make, it seemed like I had to wait until the cooks got off break to make it. I also did not like or appreciate the waiters screaming irasshai every time some one walked in. It is good to greet customers, or guests, but to yell at this level disrupts any peace that one may have. It may be good to apply such energy to the quality of the food and not scream so much. Sorry, but I feel it should be shared and warned.

I decided to try this place, after searching for a cheap sushi place to eat on a Friday night. I came around 5:15, and was seated right away. I was helped with right away, and I ordered the volcano roll, crunch roll, super California roll, and the spider roll. Overall, the sushi was very good and easy on the wallet, which earned this place the four stars. After eating, I was trying to wave down the waiter to get my bill, but after endless times telling him, he wouldn’t, which gave it –1 star.

Full Moon 満月 sushi has good sushi for the prices. I am conflicted on whether I should be giving three or four stars because of service. They are way understaffed, especially on weekends so they are super slow and it takes forever to get your order taken, get their attention and get your check. The last few times we went, this was apparent each time. They had to take 5 or 6 tables’ orders in a row, I thought those customers were there for a while before us but they didn’t even have their order taken yet. The servers really don’t acknowledge most of the customers when they enter, I was watching this since I was seated right by the door the last two times being here. It was kind of uncomfortable to watch customers just standing there while no one said anything to them and some contemplating on leaving. Like at least a hi or «I will be right with you» would suffice. Occasionally, the cooks will shout out greetings but that’s besides the point. Maybe it wouldn’t bother most people but I think as a previous manager in a restaurant this bugs me lol. Anyways, moving on to food! My husband and I usually will go to FM to get their Full Moon special with crunchy roll, choice of beef, chicken or tempura. Comes with miso soup, rice, and salad for $ 10. It is a good value so that’s why we get it because a roll would cost the same or more and we would still be hungry lol. I occasionally will get something else if I’m not too hungry. Their katsu don(pork cutlet bowl with egg) is alright… not the best. The pork is too hard and not tenderized. At the end of the day, Full Moon is good if you want affordable and a satisfying meal. If they improve and try to be more efficient on their service then I could see people giving higher ratings.

Recently decided to give this place another try after a couple years absence. I won’t go into the details of my previous experiences but let’s just say I was«underwhelmed». So very glad to see that this place has turned around. The fish is excellent and the service is great. One of my favorites is the pokey bowl for lunch. That plus a cup of tea and you have a great lunch for 10 bucks. I have tried other items but that seems to be my go to for lunch. Other meals typically will be sashimi or other delicious rolls without rice.

Used to be an avid customer here until one experience ruined it all. I gave the waitress exact change and saw her drop the coins into the register and then proceed to say I was a penny short when I counted the change right in front of her. She debated me for five minutes and then shoved my take out order into my face. Needless to say, over a simple penny the waitress who wears a trucker hat is the dumbest I have ever met. Thanks for trying to say I didn’t pay the full amount and making a huge scene about it.

Affordable sushi(compared to Sushi On Fire)…HORRIBLESERVICE. Dirty restrooms. HORRIBLESERVICE. We’ve had every server who works here serve us and they’re all very forgetful. We always have to ask for refills, extra napkins, chopsticks, getting dishes cleared, anything extra basically. The food has always been good though. The wait for a table can be ridiculous so it’s best to call in an order for pickup.

As far as quality sushi, this place is not, but that does not mean it sucks either. It is average quality sushi that somehow still has pretty good flavor. The prices are not bad at all either. Only down sides are sometimes service isn’t the best and there can be lines out the door because it is the only decent sushi place in the area. If this was just a review for the immediate area I would maybe give this place 4 stars, but there are so many tiers in quality of sushi that I had to give it 3. Overall, this place is good if you want to get some decent(not amazing) sushi and have a couple beers. I would recommend only sitting at the sushi bar so you can get your food quicker.

I’ve been coming here for the past 2 years and every visit has been good so far, until today. My boyfriend and I got greeted and seated right away. When the waitress asked us what we wanted to drink, I asked for 2 waters with lemons and while she was asking us she looked like she despised us and was super unfriendly. But when she was at other tables, she was friendly and lively. It was a slow day, but every time we tried to signal our waitress she ignored us and served other tables. After 10 minutes, we finally got to order. This time a different waitress took our order and she wasn’t friendly at all. Overall, the service sucked. I was super unhappy with today’s visit b/c we normally get great service from this place. I gave 4 stars because the food was delicious, it’s affordable, and its close to home. Other than that if the service were to improve then I would give this place a 5.

I thought people might have been exaggerating about their problems with service, they weren’t. We went at about opening, being one of few parties and had some complications with our orders. I should say though that our waiter was nice and friendly. Somehow the staff seemed even more capable and accommodating after the place started filling up. They would routinely come by and check on us. Besides that, the food was not bad. I thought my portions seemed modest at first but I left pretty satisfied.

This place ended up just being okay. There was an authentic and nice feel to the restaurant, but when the actual food came out, the food wasn’t all that good. We ordered the Full Moon Roll, the Cucumber Roll, and one of the Dinner Specials that came with Tempura and a Crunchy Roll. The Full Moon Roll and Cucumber Roll were very similar in design. They both had fish in the middle of the roll, but it didn’t feel like all that much food. They came with dipping sauces but I didn’t really feel the dips went all too well with the rolls. The flavor just felt off at some points. It was overall good tasting but not all that special. The crunchy roll was kind of boring too, mainly just crunch and not much else beyond that. The tempura dish was also passable too, nothing noteworthy or remarkable, it felt like just eating tempura at any genetic Japanese restaurant.

Although this is not the most amazing sushi spot, it’s good enough for me to come back whenever it’s convenient and I’m in the area. What I like here is the price and lightness of the sushi rolls that are offered. With that being said, it always just depends on what is ordered whether it’s a ‘light’ or ‘heavy’ meal. I feel like here at Full Moon, their rolls are really limited; not much of a variety here. However the rolls that are not the usual California rolls/generic ones, they’re very unique, light, and fresh. The price here is great for the rolls, averaging around only $ 7.50 a roll, no more than $ 9. I love that the spider roll here is $ 7.50, usually that roll is on the pricer side because of the soft shell crab. The sashimi here isn’t worth it to me, their cut is very thin compared to other sushi restaurants that I like. I really would just come here for the rolls, depending on what I felt like eating for the day. Full Moon isn’t my first choice of a sushi spot to go to, however when I do go, I enjoy my meal nevertheless.

Very slow service. OK sushi. CONS: * I had to keep asking for things. For example, more water, the soy sauce plate, the check, etc. * The difficulty of even trying to flag down a waiter! There was one main guy running around, and another girl barely even walking around doing anything. I feel like they need more staff? Or they need to be trained to multi-task better. * Unusual long wait for our food. * Unusual long wait for our check. PROS: * Cheap in price, so if I’m ever craving sushi but not wanting to burn a hole in my wallet. SUGGESTIONS: * Healthy Full Moon roll * Lunch combo! Any of them. * If you come during lunch, prices are a dollar or two cheaper. * Card for purchases of $ 10 or higher. So BRINGCASH!

Always great service here. I came about 40min til closing and they still accommodated us at the bar with smiles. You get a little moist towelette to wipe your hands. The wasabi and ginger came out on a little leaf. Everyone there was in a good mood and eating good food. I decided to try the: spider roll: a little too salty for my taste, mb too much sauce? crunchy roll: delicious, super crunchy just the way i like it. hawaiian roll: came with big chunks of tuna, refreshing(chefs fav) salmon nigiri: omg this melts in your mouth! fresh and delicious baked scallop appetizer: this was a little too watery and the rice was hard to eat since it was watery. I wish there was more mayo sauce and they let it bake for longer. overall a nice clean friendly restaurant that locals frequent and make it their usual sushi spot. I would return.

If u are a sushi newbie this spot is for u! Which was me 10 years ago when I started out eating Crunchy rolls for the first time. Now having a wider variation in taste for sushi & giving this place another try again I wouldn’t even consider coming back. First, the wait took waaay too long for a sashimi bowl & my volcano roll. my bf & I waited 30 mins for this but what blew my mind even more was getting our 2 smelt egg sushi LAST, ugh, are you kidding me?!! What was more upsetting was to see the sashimi bowl with a couple slices of fish & a heaping mound of rice. I did like the volcano roll on the other hand but I just think Full Moon would be fine for first time sushi beginners wanting to play it safe with raw fish.

If you’re looking for some simple sushi for a decent price this is the place to go! The best thing about Full Moon is the lunch special that includes a miso soup, salad, bowl of rice, choice of teriyaki beef or chicken, and a sushi roll of your choice. All for the beautiful price of under $ 10!(Prices vary according to what roll you choose) Side note: this place is kind of small, so it’s not a good idea to bring large groups here.
