Nice place, service is what you expect for a restaurant like this, pretty standard. Broth was clean but more on the bland side, meat was ok. Somehow they served the noodles the best I have ever had, perfectly chewy and not overcooked. But, for me Phở is more about the broth. I always go for the dac biet!

I went here for the first time today. I’ve been told the phở is good and to try the beef rib. We were seated promptly, however it took us 10 minutes until the server gave us a menu. By the looks of things, they appeared to be understaff. We were told they were sold out of the beef rib. We went ahead and ordered an ice water, hot tea and 2 bowls of phở tai chin. The water took 15 minutes to receive and the phở took about 25 minutes. Being that it’s a Vietnamese restaurant, I’m used to poor service, but not this poor. The food itself was good, but not worth the wait. I would much rather go to Phở 79. You might have a wait to be seated but your food is served right away. The 3star given by Unilocalers is pretty accurate.

ASDFGHJKLTHISBROTH Best phở I’ve ever had. The broth here is incredibly silky and flavorful. It was hands down the best broth I’ve ever experienced. With the phở came the typical lime wedges, jalapenos, and basil. The bean sprouts came at the same time as the phở – different than most places because the sprouts were hot and cooked in a bowl. There’s lot of hate here on Unilocal about the service. Although it was a little slower than most other Vietnamese places, it was also completely packed at about 3 pm on a weekday, and had a consistent small crowd of people waiting to get in. Totally understandable with the amount of people they were serving. Server didn’t speak the greatest English, but the menu is small and has numbers. The space was pretty big and spacious. Lots of locals eating here. Ignore the lower rating on Unilocal – it’s sooooo good.

Best phở place in OC County. Great waiters, superb quality food, fast service. There taste is unique and authentic, not for people who like powder msg based soup but for the people who enjoy real quality phở.

For my friend who walked in for an order to go and immediately received an unwelcome greeting from the waiter. The guy points out to sit anywhere to her rudely and just kept walking away. How awkward for her. She heads for the counter for the order and the lady at the counter was MORE unfriendly! Good gracious! Where is the customer service?!? Can they charge 50 cents for each bowl of soup to go too??? And the container bowl to go is a styrofoam material which is NOT good for you. Especially for hot soup. My friend asked for a different container, and the same lady remarked, «No, DOYOUWANTITORNOT?!» $ 10 fee ~really! Oh my! So cash only + bad service + expensive soup + in an unhealthy container? Is this right?!? Warning everyone: Take heed from a good reliable friend who experienced this at the restaurant. I see that there’s a few good comments about their food but if you want good service too, you may want to walk away from this one!

I didn’t realize this place was cash only. I swear we live in the modern area, how the heck doesn’t any place not take cards. I guess this place. Service was ok. I asked the dude if they took card and after dogging me he responded cash only and pointed me to the atm inside the store. There’s a 3 dollar charge for that, but thats chump change I guess. Once I got my dough, I got situated and ordered a medium phở tai and drink(cam vat). In no time, my phở arrived and it was pretty good. This place gets a lot of hype. My mom had been telling me to give this place a try for months now. I was in the area visiting her so I figured why not. The broth was really delicious. One of the best broth I’ve ever had. The noodles were very well cooked too. The downer here is the meat. Though it was extremely tender, it just had this weird taste to it that I wasn’t particularly fond of. Overall it was a nice bowl of phở and really hit the spot. I know it usually does when I get super sleepy lol. Its good but I don’t know if its overly great. Still I’d come here again if I’m in the area. I guess the ok service is to be expected. Actually it was just that one dude, because the two ladies were quite friendly. For about 10 bucks a bowl give or take this is a nice place to grab some phở. PS their cam vat was pretty fresh and delicious too, though not as sweet as I preferred.

WOW. My Vietnamese girl friend took me here after we got foot massages on Bolsa and boy, it was quite an exceptional bowl of phở. The broth here is dark, deep and flavorful. I feel like they don’t skimp on their soup base. My friend ordered the beef on the bone as a side($ 3) and they gave us these giant bones with meat on it that they use to make the broth. It was super flavorful and delicious. I got the rare steak and tripe, and everything in my bowl was excellent. We came in the middle of a day on a Monday so service was good and there was no wait but I can imagine that a place like this would get poppin’ on the weekend. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for an authentic, delicious, bowl of phở!!!

Their phở broth is a bit slight saltier than average. I believe they use beef rib stock. Great flavor above average. That’s pretty good because there is a lot of great competition around here. 3.5 stars

Phở is tasty. Yes it is a little slower here; 15 minutes on average, but it’s totally worth it. Good food. Good Service. Good prices. Nice clean spacious room. Plenty of parking. I would totally come again.

World class Phở meets absolutely incomprehensible service. Before you crucify me hear me out — I have had a bowl of Phở or two in my lifetime and I am well aware that Customer Service is not a focal point in many successful Asian restaurants. Most notably in LA, the Valley or here in OC. That said, Phở Kim Quy has perfected the most incompetent table sign up system in the Milky Way and when others complain about service I now have set bar for the worst in the human game. Here is how it works: You walk in and put your name on a tablet of legal paper and the person that came in after you simply changes the page and puts theirs on the first line of the next page. Then a host in a T-shirt and running shoes comes by on a whim and finds seven names on four separate pieces of paper… About then a small scale riot escalates before your eyes mainly spoken in Vietnamese and everyone explains that all of the others cheated. I think I was lucky being alone and caucasian. Pity was placed on me during the verbal warfare that ensued and I was seated within 5 minutes. I also put my name on 3 separate pages when I saw what was going on so you may want to try that. I have never seen anything like it but still ordered the Phở Tai… And in one taste of the broth I understood why the restaurant ran out of damn’s to give regarding service. The broth is a work of art and located nowhere near the Phở triangle at Bolsa. Subtle, sexy yet bold… and once a ¼ lime and some Thai basil is added it is nearly violent in flavor impact. Phở Lu and Phở 78 should be on notice — this place puts on a crazy bowl of slurpism and it isn’t only the broth that deserves merit. The sliced beef comes out still raw and cooks to a perfect medium-rare at Phở Kim Quy. Nobody else seems to be able to do that unless I order the meat as a side and for that alone I adore this restaurant. For the Phở nerds still reading the rice noodles come clumped together tightly but loosen within four minutes of stirring and the bean sprouts are blanched so they do not cool down the broth but still add that needed snappiness for mouthfeel. Oh — and Hoisin and Sriracha inis not even needed, the broth does it all on it’s own. This Phở will make you think you are on Bolsa. Yes, that was some of the worst service I have seen in my lifetime and I still tipped 20% because of that broth. Walk in with patience and walk out with real Phở knowledge under your belt.

Don’t pay too much attention the three star average. This restaurant is frequently busy and packed with loyal customers. I can only surmise that the low reviews are from the same type of people who would severely undermine a restaurant that serves amazing Chinese food, but offers poor customer service. No local restaurant makes phở like Phở Kim Quy. At Vietnamese restaurants, it seems people are more accustomed to getting asked what they want right when they get seated and getting their order of phở less than a minute later. Phở Kim Quy does things a little differently. Other phở restaurants can bring your order out so quickly because it’s all pre-made for the day. It makes sense to do it that way, as large quantities can be brought out with minimal hassle. Phở Kim Quy is different because they finish the soup to order. That means everyone gets a super fresh bowl of phở. Everything is prepped to order, including the meat and veggies. If you want some seriously good phở, come to Phở Kim Quy. If you want the typical quick phở(which is also good, in my opinion!), go elsewhere. There will be a 15 minute wait time to receive your food, but if you want some serious eats, this is the place to be. It reminds me of Rasoi Curry Point in Tustin. They serve some of the best and freshest Indian food, but it takes 15 minute to come out and it’s inexpensive. To me, that’s a reasonable trade-off. Come with friends or family and wait time will go faster. Oh, and don’t hit on the hot server. Once you see her, you’ll know who I’m talking about. I called dibs a long time ago!

For beef phở, I dare you to find a bowl of phở with better flavor. Service, however, is acceptably Vietnamese. Food: this restaurant excels at only one thing, consistent and delicious beef phở broth. If you want chicken, go somewhere else. Seriously. Don’t be that person who goes to a place that is only good at one thing and order that other thing. You can taste the many hours of beef intensity that went into the broth. I believe the style of it is more northern Vietnamese according to my friend’s mom. I can neither confirm nor deny that statement because my family is from the south side. This is one of the only places where I eat the phở as is without adding Sriracha or lime; it’s that good. Also, MSG is not noticeable if at all present. Service: if you grew up dining at Vietnamese restaurants, the service is very standard. You order your food and receive it. It comes out slightly slower than other phở restaurants, but I believe the headmaster of the Phở Kim Quy establishment does some optimal quality assurance. For people not accustomed to Vietnamese restaurants or others like it, please set your service expectations to sub-par. Their primary concern is not offering the best service for bigger tips and customer retention(as a result of good service). They know their broth is the best and only care about getting your money and getting you out so they can get more people in. Wait: go when they open or avoid peak hours. There will likely be a wait between 11 – 1 and 5 – 7. Food: 5⁄5 Service: Vietnamese

I came here due to all the hype +Food: I got the medium Phở Tai Sach, which was the rare steak with Tripe. The broth was flavorful, and not full of MSG like some places. The amount of meat they give is good, and they don’t overdo it on the noodles either. –Price: A little more expensive than your usually bowl of phở in Orange County. –Service: The wait is kind of long for phở. From what I heard, there’s only one cook and it’s Kim herself. It’s not too bad though. Cash only.

Lots of haters here on Unilocal and yet this place is packed at all hours with people dining in or opting for take out. Hmmmm the locals are onto something. Trust THEM! Beware: This place only serves phở and is cash only! Expect a wait to get seated. This place is busy! The broth — 5⁄5 — Sweet and earthy flavored. Tastes more full bodied than cheaper locations. The meat — 5⁄5 –Tenderized rare steak and juicy brisket and flank! Wasn’t a fan of the tendon. It is thin and pounded out. The noodles — 2⁄5 — Hard and sparse. Had to wait for them to soak up the growth to soften… The sauces — 5⁄5 — You’ll find the normal hoisin and sriracha combo here. But an improvement is their hot bean sauce. Adds a nice earthy kick to the soup and a great dipping sauce when mixed with hoisin. Why 4 stars? Had to wait 15 mins for our order to come out. Also, the noodles come out harder than I prefer and seem to be less in quantity than other places. Although, what they lack in noodles, they make up for with the quality of their meat.

So I heard this place was the old Phở Kimmy that got relocated here, but I am not sure if it is definitely the same one. The phở tastes similar though. My main issue with this place, besides the long wait, is the consistency of the phở. I feel like on some days the phở here is just incredible and is probably one of the best phở places, with great tastes, and one of the few non-Oxtail places(I think) that taste really good. On other days, the phở comes out cold, and the noodles are not cooked well and are overcooked in some parts and undercooked in others. I love that they serve the Beef Rib Bones, which I try to get an order of when I’m hungry, and I assume that’s what they base their soup off of instead of oxtail like Phở 79(that’s more of a guess). While I prefer Phở 79 to this place, this place would definitely be in my Top 3 Phở places in the area IF they could get their constancy right and always deliver their best phở, rather than how spotty I feel it has been.

Not sure why this place only has 3 stars, this is by far our favorite phở restaurant and I grew up in Westminster! And on separate occasions, my friends have recommended this place to my other non westminsterian friends to go to for phở. Reason why I’m giving it a 5 stars: the amazing phở broth and the bone dish that is not on the menu, which is sooooo delicious! The broth is so flavorful, but has the right amount of spices. It used to be in this tiny little plaza by baskin Robbins, and parking sucked there. Now that they have moved, the parking is so much better– it’s inside the same plaza as a stater bros so parking is plenty. I would only take off .5 stars because there is typically a wait, but they go through their list pretty quickly because the place is bigger than it used to be. All in all, I would definitely recommend this place– mm, getting hungry!

It looks like Phở Kim Quy is from the same owners as Phở Kimmy that recently shut down. It’s the same staff and pretty much the same non professional vibe haha. The phở itself has that sweeter broth that brought me to love Phở Kimmy but there was something about it. It tasted less real. it gave me the sense that it was partially made with powder/msg to likely cut down on costs. The broth def had more msg than before and it was just a bit more artificial than I remember. I ordered a medium and the bowl was ok sized. I normally dont eat all the noodles but i had no issues with the amount I had. The rare steak was soft and tender(more so than most phở places) which was a plus. Service was as the same as I remember. bad and impolite haha. Our waitress basically came up to us with this idgaf attitude and asked us what we wanted and then a moment was just split out like nothing. The phở took about 15 minutes which was pretty standard for Phở Kimmy but slow for most phở places. The area is bigger than Phở Kimmy but it seemed like the kitchen was the same size. We sat right above an air conditioner vent which made things chilly but we were quickly warmed by the phở. I might come back if I am craving that sweeter broth.

This is the new location for Phở Kimmy, which moved from Westminster to Fountain Valley. I think the food comes out much quicker than before. The inside is extremely spacious & clean. I think the broth here is solid, easily one of my favorite broth places in the area. I typically will order the dac biet(phở combination), which comes w/tendon, tripe, and cutlets of meat. A medium size is $ 8 or you can roll large for $ 9. Like I said above, the broth is definitely the best part of the dish. TIPS; –Medium Phở — $ 8, Large Phở — $ 9. –Cash only –Same plaza as Stater Bro’s & across from Mile Square park

My cousin’s favorite phở place. My hubby and I have been to Phở Kimmy which we thought was just eh… surprisingly our opinions changed. soup wise definitely flavorful. which i have to say may be because of the MSG. nevertheless it definitely was not bad. we have became fans. if i liked it why didn’t i give it 5 stars? well to be honest, the prices are kinda high for phở. especially for the OC area. besides that even if you got a large or a small in the end it doesn’t make much of a difference as there’s not enough noodles. usually i have problems with not enough meat to noodle ratio. however phở kim quy is the total opposite as its not enough noodles to meat ratio. my hubby got a large and he said he could’ve ate another large because there was just not enough period. as for me, once i drank all of my water i felt full. let’s just say i was super thirsty for the next few hours as well because of the MSG. would i come back? YES because it was flavorful! service was pretty good. food came out fast. waitress asked if we wanted cooked or raw bean sprouts. portion size for the bean sprouts was generous. we asked for a lot of lemon and they gave us a small bowl and then some. so they actually listened to our requests. tips: *cash only *shared parking lot with other businesses *staff speaks english really well. *formerly known as Phở Kimmy *only has phở on the menu. so don’t come expecting more than just phở.
