I ordered chorizo burritos which are usually on point. This time it was smothered in cheese which is usually not placed. I let them know and would have been fine paying for new ones but the attitude I received was unnecessary. BTW next time they decide to break out in Spanish and complain about a customer they should check if they understand… I speak Spanish ladies.

This place used to be our«go to» early mornings every day. That was 2 – 3 months ago, I walked in this morning, and will never return! The people used to be so friendly, but now they are all rude! It’s so disappointing for a great positive place turn sour because of new hires that are unhappy! This place has lost our business!

There was so many people inside when I went. Like ‘line out the door’ sort of busy. It’s usually like that every time that I come here, especially around holidays. It is a pretty small shop though. I really love the fact that they make fresh donuts every day. You can watch them in the kitchen while you order. The donuts are always fresh and they’re never old or stale which is a huge disappointment to me when I end up with something like that. So the quality here is always amazingly consistent. Other than the donuts, I’ve tried a breakfast croissant with sausage, egg and cheese. It was delicious and I would order it again. Another thing they have is fresh squeezed juices. A green, purple and orange one. They’re really good too and made fresh daily. It’s right across the street from me so I come here quite often if I’m at home, but I wouldn’t go out of my to eat here.

Never coming back here. First of all my girlfriend asked the lady behind the counter how the tuna salad was and the lady responded by saying«eh it’s not that good you shouldn’t get it «really??? That’s not a good sign of the quality of everything else. I ordered a bacon avocado and cheese bagel. I didn’t know they added 20 pounds of Rosemary to the top of the bagel, all I could taste was Rosemary. The avocado was so bad it was like a hard unripened baseball. And I also love my bacon being cooked in a microwave.(Sarcasm). I see the grill right there why don’t you use it. My girlfriend ordered a bagel with an egg, cheese and cream cheese. So they take a little plastic bowl, but some type of(egg juice) in it and put it in the microwave to cook, um wish we would have known that before hand so I could have saved my $ 10 on the B.S. Bagel/donut shop. And the cheddar cheese was so bland and dull we have never tasted cheddar so bad. We both threw away both our bagels. So in review don’t go here don’t waste your money. I would have rather paid my dog $ 10 to eat his poop.

Donuts are ok, sandwiches are good, but the guy that works late night is so rude, that they have lost our business. My husband and son went in to buy a tuna melt sandwich. The worker(Mexican male) ignored them for 5 minutes, even though he saw them and no one else was in the building. When he finally acknowledged them, they asked him to repeat what he said because they could not understand. He got angry and snapped at them. After some confrontation, he made the sandwich incorrectly, even though it is a menu item. This is not the first encounter with this gentleman. A few weeks prior we went to order the same thing, and he said they did not have tuna. Winchell’s better think about who they are hiring and the customer service they are providing. There is a lot of competition out there, and from prior Unilocal reviews, we are not the only ones who have experienced this poor and rude service. This employee is giving the business a bad reputation.

So I was riding my bike with my girlfriend around our neighborhood last night around 11pm and we decided to stop at winchell’s for a drink. I have only been here once before for a couple of sandwiches and they tasted great. Last night I tried to order a smoothie and the mexican guy working at the time just kept saying no, no, no english. So I couldn’t even order a drink, I ended up walking out pretty pissed off. How does someone get a job at a place when they cant even take a simple order for a drink? I will not be coming back to this or any winchell’s ever again.

Got a double chocolate with sprinkles. It wasn’t very chocolaty, but the lady at the counter was extremely friendly.

I was so annoyed today by the wait. I ordered a ranchero burrito, took 15 mins to come out while the customer right before me ordered 3 ranchero burritos and it came out within 5 mins after paying for it. The ladies in the back we laughing and chattering taking their sweet time. Not sure if I’ll order food vs a donut here.

I’ve never actually tried anything from here before but occasionally we take my step kids here. There is often a line outside but service seems to be pretty quick. There is a good variety to choose from too. The kids seem to love the donuts and these kids are picky eaters!

Next donut shop ever! All the people that work here, regardless of the time, are super friendly and welcoming. The donuts and bagels always taste fresh and delicious! I’m not a donut person and I can’t help but keep buying donuts for my team and husband because I know they get quality and the probe are always so sweet.

So at 8:15pm I am the only one there and the clerk seems annoyed to serve me. As she is ringing it up $ 7.49(8 donuts) I say is it cheaper to get a dozen, she says«yes» as she grabs the money off the counter and finishes ringing me up. I am kinda in shock and I say it’s cheaper? She says more clearly«yes» here is your change. And walks off. I guess I could of asked her to do that but I was floored. And so I left. I won’t be back here.

Donuts Hot Spot — Located on the Magnolia and Warner directly across from Sports Authority. Winchell’s is best known for being open 24 hours and having a great Donuts. They have been in business 40 years in the same location so they must be doing something right. My wife and I walked up and there was a line out the door so it must be good right. We get inside within a few minutes and they have a pretty big selection of Donuts & Muffins. They also have a Deli section if you feel like a sandwich. I haven’t tried those yet but I am sure I will. The inside looked clean and everyone who was working was very quick and friendly. They accept Debit and Credit Cards which is good because I rarely carry cash with me. Here is what we got! My Wife chose a Chocolate-glazed Ring Plain French, Pineapple Upside down cake muffin, Old Fashion Glazed Buttermilk. I chose an Fancy Apple Fritter and some Donut holes. This place gets a Full Thumbs Up! The donuts were very fresh and wonderful tasting. They weren’t stale or too sweet. They were just right. If you have never been to Winchell’s it’s never too late you got to check it out. P.S they have the best Coffee. Thanks for reading my review. –Matt

The fact is that there just aren’t that many Winchell’s around anymore. It’s a pity, really. I remember they used to be so ubiquitous back in the day. They’re largely a relic of a bygone era… but then again Fountain Valley is the land that time forgot. Winchell’s, among other things you thought went extinct, still exist, nay, flourish, in Fountain Valley. To step into this Winchell’s is like stepping back 25 years… to a time before trans-fat was deemed a hazard, when people gained weight consuming carbs and didn’t care, before all the donut shops in Southern California became Cambodian-operated, and when people patronized honest-to-goodness businesses more. This Winchell’s overlooks Warner and Magnolia St. at the 405 Freeway entrance. It’s hard to miss, which is why I would occasionally drop by here before going to work nearby. A really unique quality here is that they accept credit cards(Visa, MasterCard) without imposing any fees or having a minimum purchase requirement. You simply pay with your credit card after getting your donut. It’s very much like Dunkin’ Donuts, but not as corporate. And since you’re paying with plastic, why not throw a cup of coffee or a bottle of orange juice along with that warm and fluffy donut? They also allow you to pour your own creamer in to your java from one of several flavors in a dispenser near the register. You may need it, as they serve that cup of joe boiling hot. They have a policy at this Winchell’s whereby, if you don’t get a receipt, you get your order free. I keep wishing that they would run out of ink, but so far no dice. I’m sure eventually, I’m going to score a free donut when they have to order more ink. It’s just a matter of time. Though the total of any given purchase comes out to a couple of bucks, I still charge it. I frankly don’t care about getting a receipt for such small amounts, but since they have this«we-must-give-you-a-receipt» policy, I always ask for it. In fact, I would rather they not bring ink and paper into this entire transaction for just a single donut. But, need you forget, this is still an honest-to-goodness business in a land where time moves at a slower pace.
