Dude I can’t believe all the negative reviews I have seen on here. I’m from Cary and have always loved New China. Best Chinese food I’ve ever had. I live in the city now and have yet to find one Chinese place that compares. Still haven’t found it. Took a while after fire to re-open. I don’t come back much anymore but when I do I make it a point to get some new China. So when the fire took place, had to wait a while before they were back. My buddies can tell you same thing about this place. There died rice and egg rolls are hands down best things to get. So good. Next I’d go with either the sesame chicken or China chicken. Bomb. Crispy noodles in butter simple but good little side. I’m telling you, I don’t know what’s up with these bad reviews but I can assure you this place is one of a kind. Oh and if you order a few Mai Tai’s you’ll def have a good buzz or be drunk off two. And there tasty as well. New China, dank juice couch and football. Lol

I just ordered $ 38 worth of food hoping to have a wonderful Chinese Dinner. I am now throwing out 90% of the food. The chicken was tasteless and so tough you need a sharp knife. The only thing that was good was the Crab Rangoon. Don’t wast your money… I did.

I am so happy to write this review. I have loved New China since I was a kid then after their fire and remodel they really went down hill. But I am so happy to say they fixed the issues. Went with my husband last night and loved my dinner. As always best egg rolls around. Egg drop soup was good. Great friend rice my husband had Shanghai beef he said it was really good. I had hung Sue Gai it was great. The egg foo young use to be better it was good but can work on that a little. I am happy to say I will be back.

I have been looking for a good chinese restaurant near me for a long time, but I did not find it here. The food was lacking in flavor, just bland all around. The egg roll was pretty good, but the mu shu pork and curry shrimp were just nothing special at all. The lady at the take out counter was very nice and it felt nice and cozy inside, but I can’t justify spending my money on food with little flavor.

I don’t normally really ever write a review for any place but the customer service I received tonight really stood out. The restaurant is located across the street from the Fox River Grove Metra Station. I went inside about 750pm and the restaurant was near capacity but when I got to the counter. This extremely nice hostess took my order and at the end of my order I asked if the order would be ready within 15min because of my train that I need to catch? She replied saying it would be ready before the 15min. I’m assuming with the way I was treated and the way my order was bagged up that a high customer base is metra riders. I got my complete order in hand in 6min and when I got on the train because I happen to say I would be eating this on the go. My food was put separately from the sauce to I would assume be clean or prevent spills. Just for this experience alone when I’m in the area I will be stopping in again in the future!

DONOTWASTEYOURTIMEORMONEYEATINGATTHISDUMP! I ORDEREDFROMTHEWEBSITEORSO I THOUGHTANDGOTTHEWORSTMEALEVER! ITWAS $ 11.00 for Sesame Chicken and White Rice and it came with nothing else, NOTEVEN A FORTUNECOOKIE! The chicken was in in a bag and the bland sesame sauce was in a separate container which I found to be strange but nothing surprised me with this place! I was under the impression that I was getting chicken fried rice and an egg roll with it called the«dinner box» which was on the website but was rudely informed that I was on the wrong website. I called to speak to a manager or owner and what I got was the rudest most unprofessional person I have ever dealt with in my life! I tried to explain to him the situation and all he did was talk over me. He did not try to rectify the situation and had the nerve to tell me that I just wanted a welfare meal and hung up on me. My husband was livid and got in the car and drove there to talk to this idiot and he got absolutely nowhere as well. He gave the owner 3 chances to make things right and he did not do so. He actually had my husband go in the back so as to not make a scene which I found amusing since the place was empty which didn’t surprise me at all. I called back again and spoke with a young gentleman who was eager to listen and help. We had a long conversation on the do’s and don’ts of customer service which obviously the owner knows NOTHING about! He offered to me a solution but I was too nervous that the owner would spit in my food! If I could give this place 0 stars I would and they really should have that option since it applies here. I could care less how good the drinks are, there are plenty of bars I can go to and get them and it doesn’t take a genius to push start on a blender. I was so applaud at the situation, I felt compelled to let everyone I know to stay away… far away from this place. I have read the other reviews and there are ones that are just as bad and a few that give them high marks, obviously these people have never eaten delicious Chinese food before nor have they had great service. The owner said to me that his reviews on this site are 90% good and 10% bad and he is more concerned with the good reviews which puzzles me because he could do something to avoid bad reviews but could care less. The young gentleman was pleasant and professional and validated what I had to say and understood my frustration which I appreciated. I still will make sure that I tell everyone to stay away, there are other Chinese restaurants in the area that had good food and are worth the money. If I was looking for a «welfare meal», why would I spend $ 11.00 on an item that wasn’t even like Sesame Chicken I know and order from other places with no problems. Take a ride to Crystal Lake to King Buffet, you can get take out and choose from over 100 items for well worth the money instead of resorting to eating here which is NOT worth the money at all! I fed my dogs the chicken and tossed out the so called Sesame Sauce. I have learned my lesson and hopefully I have saved at least one person from making the same mistake I did! DON’T EATHERE!!!

Great Cantonese food and awesome drinks! The Mai Tais are a town favorite, as well as the scorpions and zombies.

Waited for this place to reopen after the fire. It was nicely done. Tried the food and found it to be the most bland Asian food ever. I have Asian food usually 2 times a week for lunch in the Schaumburg area and this stuff they serve here can’t compare. It’s just plain tasteless. Yummy Asian Bistro is way better.

Since they have remodeled this restaurant, everything is so much better! Try their Chicken Almond Ding. Drinks are good too. This is a beautiful little gem that’s family owned and run & they don’t use MSG! Try it.

Worst Chinese food I’ve ever had, and I’m not a very picky eater. Don’t even bother with this place,

Service was exceptional, food mediocre. The fried rice lacked salt, and the pork was not even present. I had to literally pour soy sauce and salt to give the rice flavor. Sweet and sour chicken was like cardboard. 2 tomato pieces and a few frozen deep fried chicken pieces. Do yourself a favor and travel someplace else.

I’ve had a lot of Chinese in my day, but I have never had such a terrible meal at any Chinese establishment. I ordered Mongolian beef, and it was more like Mongolian barf. I also ordered sweet and sour chicken and Garlic beef. Both tasted similar, even though they were from different animals. Then there is the crab Rangoon’s… I’ve had better at a truck stop buffet. I don’t see my self eating here again, unless someone pays me a substantial amount to make it worth my while.

This place has quickly gone down hill since they reopened after the fire. My parents still order delivery every so often, so I am forced to force it down when I am over there for a family dinner. The egg rolls are the only reason for the 2 stars. I used to love the Shrimp with Lobster Sauce, but it is lacking flavor now. I hate writing a bad review about a place that I have been eating at since I was a young child and that has a very nice family that owns and operates it, but I have to still to be honest on here.

New China is one of the best places for traditional Chinese food in the northern suburbs. They have a great Mai Tai and the egg rolls are simply the best. Also the Shanghai Chicken, Egg Drop Soup, and China Beef are all good. Great staff and awesome service. I highly recommend it and I will defiantly be going back.

Had a great lunch experience. Nice décor and our server was friendly and accommodating. Several options on a lunch special menu with reasonable pricing. Standout were the egg roll and egg foo young. The egg roll was REALLY good and crunchy! I would come back!

Thought we’d give them a try since everything was fresh and new since the fire. The hostess was the worst — her reaction to our table of 7 was an eye roll and a very discouraging ‘it will be a long wait’. There were several open booths, not cleaned. I told her we’d be happy to break into two groups as long as we were seated at the same time. She had us sit and wait 20 minutes as more booths emptied, only to finally tell us she had a table ‘in the back’ but it only seats 5 people. Did she expect two of our group to stand? I reminded her that we’d be happy to split up and we were finally seated after the booths were cleaned. It took forever to get our food, one dish — the orange chicken — was cold, not room temperature, but actually cold inside. The fried rice was so drenched in a molasses-like sauce that it looked like hamburger. Another dish had several hairs in it. The last straw was when the busboy finished cleaning the booth across from us, and flipped the dishrag over his shoulder, sending a stream of dirty water and food particles into our food and across our table. Our waitress apologized, removed two dishes from our bill and had a word with the busboy. She was clearly mortified by what had happened and did her best to correct the situation, but it was beyond her control. One flailing busboy, a misdirected hostess and slow kitchen service made this a bad experience. Hair in food, cold food and dirty rag water quickly made it a nightmare. Never again!

THEWORST! Not just the food was bad but the service and atmosphere are horrible! I had to bus my own table! The fortune cookies were put atop of our dirty plates! STAYAWAY! Don’t waste you money! There are way better Asian restaurants close by. I wish I could give NO stars but Unilocal doesn’t allow it. I wouldn’t even get takeout from these people!

Ok I ate here 15 years ago and it was basic at best, Chinese food. So after the reopening and all the hype. We thought we would give it a try, I’m very sorry we did, the food is still tasteless and blah, egg rolls are mushy and greasy, my daughter had the Sesame chicken again tasteless, a weird soggy orange colored batter, and the sauce again tasteless, I had the chicken low mien and again tasteless To be truthful. This is like an Old China. Instead of New China. Come on this is the type of Chinese that my parents ate 50 years ago. There are so many better places around to spend my money at. I cannot comment on the Service as this was a take out order. I can not recommend this to anyone. And we’re the fortune cookies? Don’t you get those automatically?

After the fire! The Grand Re-opening of this place is very welcomed. After a bad fire almost two years ago and incompetent contractors I thought this local treasure was lost. But it is bad, better than ever. First the food. As good as ever. An entirely new kitchen and the family cooks are little out of practice, but it is working and the kinks are few. Home made egg rolls are the best. Hong Sue Har(Shrimp) and Hong Sue Chicken are my favorite. I will be getting some Almond Pressed Duck when things get back to normal as it is a dish that takes time. Drinks are still lovely. The décor is all new and the bathrooms have been upgraded too! So it is some welcome improvements. Since re-opening the community has turned out in force and it is very busy! That will calm down. But be patient they are doing the best they can in an environment that only be described as overwhelming! Glad to see them back in operation, back up to quality and of course hopefully making money again!
