First let me say that I am very picky when it comes to food, more than most and a borderline pain in the *** My wife and I have been coming to J & M Diner weekly for over a year now. The Breakfast is Spot on and comes out fast and fresh with huge portions. The cook and waitstaff are warm and friendly, always getting our order right. The atmosphere is very upbeat with cheery music playing in the background. The J & M Diner is our favorite Breakfast place to visit. They will not disappoint you.

My family and I have headed to J&M a number of times when we were looking for a hearty and delicious breakfast. We’ve never been let down! They have a diverse menu, representing some pretty creative breakfast plates. The omelets are brimming with fillings, the pancakes are HUGE and the sweet potato hash is like nothing I’ve ever had. Yummy! We always leave with numerous doggy bags and get several additional meals after we’ve gotten home. The place is really busy but the staff does a good job of moving people through without making anyone feel rushed. They do a great job of getting your order to you quickly so that you can sit and enjoy your meal. Our wait staff has always been friendly and attentive and we’ve left feeling more than satisfied.

Don’t let the high stars here fool you! This wasn’t just a bad meal, it was one of the worst overall restaurant experiences of my life. My sister and I went in for breakfast. For context & perspective, I waited tables for 10 years, and during that same period my sister lived in France where she learned to be a gourmet home chef. Ok, so here goes: 1) I’ve never been to a breakfast diner where the music is nightclub-loud. I don’t enjoy being bombarded before my morning joe, even if it is my supah soul brothah Bob Marley; 2) Let’s talk about my sister’s dish first: She ordered 2 eggs scrambled with 2 bacon. Clearly they use either a batch of pre-scrambled eggs, or a boxed liquid product, because she had a large plate, and her«two eggs» took up half of it — the equivalent of at least 4! Worst of all, they were basically yellow chunks of rubber — she couldn’t eat them; 3) I ordered the Baby Benny(half order of eggs benedict) with home fries and a side of bacon. I can’t even begin to say how bad this was. As one other Unilocalie said, who puts steak seasoning on home fries? It’s been two hours since I ate this food and I can still taste the garlic & spices. So gross. And, how hard are home fries to do right? Really? But it was the Baby Benny that was the real killer — soft muffin, don’t even think it was toasted, Trump-size YUGE piece of ham(when it should be a thin slice of Canadian bacon). Wow, good for them that they know how to poach an egg right, but they smothered it in «Hollandaise» sauce. My sister knows how to make this sauce well, and all I can say is, theirs needs quote marks around it, because they don’t know how to make it. It was more like an extremely tart lemon cream sauce, way too thick, and so tart it made my breakfast inedible! 4) Are you with me? Thinking, how much worse can this review get? Hold on. It gets way worse. Sis and I decided not to say anything — she said, «let’s just eat what we can and get outta here» — but then a sweet server stopped and kindly asked how we liked our food. I hesitated to say anything, but my sister told her the sauce was so lemony I couldn’t eat my breakfast. She said, let me get the manager — and then things got interesting. 5) I didn’t get her name, but this woman(ponytail and tats, that’s all I remember) squatted in front of our table to get at eye level with us, and once she heard our concerns about my meal(we never got to the rubber egg imposters or the boom-boom room noise level), she got very upset and wanted to argue & debate every concern we had. She argued that her«chef» knows his sauces and that my meal was highly rated by many customers, etc etc. She was so rude I interrupted her and calmly asked her to leave our table. SHEDIDN’T! She sat there arguing and arguing(with herself, we weren’t replying or even looking at her), so I asked her to leave again, and she refused! Finally, after a few more emphatic statements she finally walked away. OMG! I have NEVER seen anything like this! AND — she did nothing to adjust our ticket, until I asked that sweet server to please remove my meal. I wanted my sister’s comped too but wasn’t willing to get into another debate fest over it, so yes, we paid money for this HORRIBLE experience!

Awful food. Simply awful. Ridiculously loud music — felt like we were at a dance club instead of a diner. Hollandaise sauce on the Eggs Benedict was really a lemon cream — killed this dish which should be subtle and savory. Scrambled eggs were over cooked and flat. Home fries were loaded with garlic(not a normal ingredient in home fries…). Coffee tasted terrible. Friendly wait staff until you point out the noise or the crappy food, then they just argue about how good they are and how wrong you are. We will never return. McDonald’s would have been better, and we hate McDonald’s!

Amazing breakfast. Diner style, all cash, varied choices. The pancakes were incredible, and the eggs cooked to perfection. The staff was super friendly and just easy to have a conversation with and enjoy your meal. Can’t wait to come back and try the omelettes.

Mind blowing this place. The hours are unfortunate because I wish I could eat here for late lunch and dinner as well. But when they are open, the food is beyond belief. My usual order is the B combo which is a combo of a bunch of things. All of the meats and eggs are fantastic. For the french toast, they do a kind of french toast pancake but it’s super delicious. With the sprinkle of cinnamon and sugar on it, crazy. This is the best place to come after a night of drinking to much.

My family and I LOVE this place! The food is delicious, the atmosphere is fun, the waitresses are in PJs… okay maybe I’m the one who enjoys that part… Ahem…(just kidding guys!) ANYWAY, the portions aren’t something you see at most diner restaurants, they’re really big and you will almost guaranteed leave with a doggy bag. Everything is cooked to order, GOOD corned beef hash is so hard to come by but they get it right every time. It is a cash-only place, so make sure you come prepared. They do have an ATM, but do yourself a favor so you don’t get hit with fees. Their menu always has a huge list of specials. I usually go for the omelettes and am never disappointed. They are bulky, filled very well, and the eggs are cooked just right. My boys love the pancakes and french toast. So… Friendly and fast Staff Great Food Acceptable waiting times for a table My only complaint… ONLY complaint is if you get the table by the door… This place is so popular that there is a crowd inside and they don’t have enough accommodations for people waiting for tables. As a result, if you’re seated at the front of the restaurant during their prime hours(usually mornings on weekends) you may have someone standing over you while you eat. Again, not really their fault, but something worth mentioning in case this bothers you… Like I said, not a major issue. Give the food a try, everyone I know who has ever tried this place, has gone back… more than once!

So good! Home fries are seasoned perfectly. The sweet potato hash with beef, onions and cranberries is a must try. So many choices for pancakes and French toast. We went with one chocolate chip pancake which was huge!!! So fluffy, probably the best I’ve ever had. Cash only, ATM located on sight. Be prepared to wait outside 30 minutes if you go on a weekend morning, worth the wait!

This place is super busy and pretty popular. However, if you like your omelettes to be made with real eggs or like egg whites only — don’t go here — they won’t do it for you. They also don’t serve honey or any other healthy options. Overall, if you are to the healthier side, this might not be a place for you Otherwise, it’s good and friendly, and sooo many pancake options.

We have been to J&M a couple of times and this place is special! Cash Only, Quirky in so many nice ways! Too much food on any plate, but the prices reflect that a bit. The quality is top notch, preparation and recipes used are spectacular. And the atmosphere and the service are super! If you are a Betty Boop fan you must come here. Has that whole nostalgia thing happening on the walls. Along with pictures of their plates of food that make you want to come back again to try what you didn’t get this time. Most of the other reviews are pretty accurate, but the come early and avoid the weekend lines are a good idea. We have had the omelettes and the pancakes. We have left stuffed with enough food for another meal.

Food is great. But I think if I offer to pay extra for something just so I could have it, I think they should accommodate. I ordered pancakes with Nutella, and the pancakes barely had any Nutella, I could barely even taste the Nutella. I then proceeded to ask for more and offered to pay whatever it was worth, but they said no, and said everything was portioned. I think that was absolutely ridiculous, and whatever reason she gave me, I think it was unreasonable.

The food is good but I think I left feeling like there was more to be desired. Not good for groups larger than 4. And cash only like the other reviewers say. I know the cost savings for a small business but these days it’s inconvenient to not be able to use credit card. They bring in a lot of patrons so they like to turn tables fast. Expect a good wait still and things felt rushed, bummer since it was our first time. Service is friendly though. The portions are very large, good for sharing. We got the wicked sinful French toast and the Jack Daniels omelette. The French toast is very big and very sweet, almost like giant pancakes. It doesn’t come with anything else but would be good with bacon or eaten as a side. It’s indulgent so definitely share this one. I did like the omelette. Strawberry coffee, although it sounds unique, wasn’t all that special. Debating whether we’ll be back anytime soon, considering the wait time.

Wow, this place was amazing. The food was gear and the staff was friendly and quick. It is a small place so be prepared to wait to be served and for it to be crowded. I had the Jack Daniels omelette and my wife had the Sweet potato corn beef hash. The portions are big so come hungry!

Deeeeeeliciously worth the wait! I got the reeses peanut butter cup pancakes with bananas, whipped cream, and caramel on top. Honestly, I’d do one or the other if I were to go again… but WOW was that fun! Remember cash and try something new or reimagined. Definitely try this place out!

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRREAT food, AWESOMMMMMMMMME staff. Anything you get is great, I recommend the grilled bagel for sure. There is no bad side to this place, only the obvious… SMALL, long wait, and you come out smelling like bacon. Oh well… that is exactly what you should expect in any diner. The staff is superb and friendly, that place was jamming all day and everyone had a smile, was engaging to everyone including the people waiting for a table. This is how every diner should model their customer service after. Try the blueberry pancake for sure, OMG and the CHOCOLATEICECOFFEE… WHAT?! Never had such a thing and it was so wonderful. It is a bit pricey btw… three people at $ 55 was more than we expected, but maybe typical for this area. Most items are around the $ 10 range. Ample parking and a bench to sit outside. They also currently DONOT do egg beaters because of the egg shortage? Or strike, or something. lol, I can’t remember.

If you do not have the sweet potato hash, you are doing yourself a disservice. Not much hash but lots of meat in this very tasty treat. Eggs over medium cooked perfectly. Sourdough toast, toasted perfectly and nice thick slices. J & M Diner is not cheap, but it is a very very good breakfast. Five stars, well deserved. They do not accept credit cards and parties of one, at least during the busy breakfast hours, will be sitting at the counter. No worries.

Delicious! Absolutely delicious! I’ve had this joint bookmarked for months after seeing it on TV, so it was about time that I stop by on a workday when it wouldn’t be too crowded. We grabbed seats at the counter and were served immediately. All the ladies were very helpful and they are all your server, versus other diners where you only have one. This makes it easy because everyone was constantly asking us if we were good. The food is amazing and reasonably priced. Other notes: –Cash only. –Great menu options. –Best to go on a weekday for prompt service. –Plenty of parking. –Up the street from Shopper’s World and many stores. –The hot cocoa was served with a heaping amount of whipped cream and a marshmallow ghost. So cute! I didn’t get a pic because it was someone else’s order.

J&M Diner is one of those diners that’s just got it down. The sweetest service. The fluffiest pancakes(I SEECINNAMONSWIRL) and the plumpest omelettes I ever did see. As is the truth with any great diner that serves only breakfast and brunch, the line to get in on the weekends is long. When you arrive, send in the captain of your party to get your name on the list asap and then enjoy the cozy outdoors while the buttery pancakes waft in the air and taunt you. If your party is smaller then 3 and you don’t want to sit at the bar, make sure to let them know! It’ll most likely extend your wait, but for picky people like me, it’ll make you very happy to be at table or booth. **Note, Cash Only! They do have an ATM in the back if you need it. The Omelette menu has all your faves, plus fun additions with bleu cheese, bacon in almost everything, vegetarian delights, plus the PULLEDPORKANDBACONJACKDANIELSOMELLETE. No biggy, just pretty much eating a pulled pork sandwich with an egg on top. If you’re looking for this to also be cheesy, I’d probably ask for extra cheese, but if you’re looking for saucy and sweet then this is your baby. The pancake list is insanity. Toppings from reese’s to all of the fruit in the garden. And this is a no-joke, «portion size schmortion size» joint so come hungry. Décor is just the cutest collection of vintage signs and 90s styles family photos. All of the servers are sweethearts and treat regulars the same as they do the people just stumbling in the door for the first time. If you’re near framingham or natick, this is the breakfast place to be.
