Everything about this place is 5-star worthy except for the accommodations. Location, scenery, innkeeper, food… all awesome. The innkeeper was great. He greeted us, brought our bags in, showed us to our rooms, and brought us hot apple cider, fresh brownies, and apple slices. The scenery is breathtaking, and I can’t imagine there is a better place to be to see fall-foliage. BUT, it’s a very old house that hasn’t been updated in a loooong time. The sheets and towels were clean, but don’t expect much else. The shower was incredibly old and rusty, but clean. My room was $ 140, and it was definitely worth $ 140.

Imagine a room leading to a lovely pasture, overlooking gardens, a pool of the bluest of blue, a majestic valley. This is the setting for my recent stay at The Inn at Crotched Mountain. Located in Francesrown, New Hamphire, The Inn prides itself as a winter and ski getaway. However, we decided to spend a long weekend there in August 2015. There is a small town air at the Inn, which is obviously taken care of with lots of love, by a family that has owned it for over four decades. The inn accepts pets for a very affordable fee and you are encouraged to explore the lands with or without your furry friend. Breakfast is served(also for an affordable rate) and the common areas, including a cozy game/TV room are always available. If you are looking for a generic, corporate, large chain type of resort, this is not for you. If you’re looking for a small town feel, friendly and accommodating staff, and an opportunity for some peace and serenity, you found it! Also, great for kids of any ages and, of course, pets. WiFi is free but TVs are not installed in rooms. Then again, with such beautiful surroundings, who needs a TV???
