I went to Wendle’s yesterday after driving past it many times. I was unfortunately very disappointed in my experience. My turkey wrap had both apples and onions in it, and the onions were cut into slices as large as the apples. The wrap had very little dressing on it, only a few slices of turkey, and was mostly baby spinach. I had a few bites of the sandwich and was done. As I was sitting at the table, I watched the girl behind the counter make a coffee drink for another customer. The employee dropped the cap of the milk bottle into the customer’s drink cup, then proceed to fish the cap out, and serve the drink to the customer. Due to this and the poor quality food, I would highly recommend you go anywhere other than Wendle’s for breakfast or lunch.

Get the roast beef breakfast sandwich with onion, fried egg, veggie cream cheese. It has a kind of au jus thing going on. Legitimately one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had. Plus good coffee. Made for a five star breakfast en route to Jay Peak.

Surly, unfriendly counter help(I’ve been told that this is a NH thing. That’s fine, you can have whatever shitty attitude you want and I’ll just give you the shitty review you deserve). Ordered a latte with breakfast and it wasn’t made until after we asked four different times. Finally, the pancakes were lousy and served with fake maple syrup. She says«I’m not going to lie to you, we don’t have real syrup today.» As if you could fool me with fake syrup(according to another reviewer they have tried this tactic in the past). But, seriously, in the heart of maple syrup country you can’t bother to stock some real syrup for your guests? Pretty much sums up everything about this place: they don’t care. You should return the favor and not care enough to stop in.

Nice little café in Franconia. Stopped in when Polly’s Pancake Parlor had an hour and a half wait time. Decent selection of breakfast items. Counter service and cash only. Cashier was nice but seemed a bit flustered as she seemed to be the only person working the front. Coffee is decently priced and they use Mad River Coffee Roasters. Less then two bucks for a large mug with unlimited refills. My veggie egg sandwich was delicious and my friends all enjoyed their omelettes, french toast, and pancakes. Cool vibe with lots of local art work on the walls that is for sale. Nice big patio for when the weather is nice. It’s a tough choice between Wendle’s and Mojos for sandwiches but there is seating at Wendle’s so it’s a no brain-er if you are wanting to hang out for a while.

I had the Fanning. Roasr beef, oniins, herb cream cheese, and an egg all on an everything bagel. So good it made me forget I wanted sausage gravy. I also had a delicious caramel breve. All the yum.

This is my favorite place to go for a custom sandwich. They are cash-only so I save up on cash to go to Wendle’s– it can get pricey with all the extra toppings on a custom sandwich. I just love the the quality of the bread and meat and all the unique options on the board! Also… shout out to the zucchini bread. The ambiance is pleasant and old-school and has a lot of character. If I had an unlimited budget I’d eat lunch here daily.

Really sub par. My tuna melt was cold and dry and it seemed like the tuna was just plopped out of a can. The atmosphere is great, but one of the problems with an open kitchen is that when the cook throws a hussy fit that they’re running out of ingredients and she doesn’t want to go to the store, everyone can hear it. The cherry on top was that they didn’t have a waste bin in the bathroom, so a pile of paper towels just piled up in the corner. Umm…

The food was nothing special. It wasn’t gross, but nothing worth going out of your way for. The restaurant was not very clean. When we arrived there was *no* hot coffee available(really?) and there was very clearly not adequate staffing. They knew the coffee was out but instead of stoping to refill it they just continued to take orders. We waited 45 minutes for a breakfast sandwich, 2 pancakes and 2 slices of French toast. The most irritating part? After half an hour of waiting, I asked when our food might be ready they flat out lied to me. The girl told me «they are plating it right now». Then I sat for a further 15 minutes and watched them cook our food. We left irritated and frustrated at the waste of our time, and we are typically pretty patient people. I know things get busy and thing happen, but honestly they shouldn’t be taking orders they can’t fulfill in a reasonable amount of time; or at the very least communicate to people.

Had the pleasure to meet Wendle when she was closing up and it must have been obvious from my tired face walking through the door that I needed some coffee. Believe it or not even as she was closing up the register she treated me to a cup at no cost. It was past 4 and that coffee was still darn good. While my wife was shopping over at Garnett Hill Wendle treated me to a nice conversation and a warm brew and I will be back again to thank her.

Just what we were looking for. Sandwiches, soups, breakfast options all day served quickly. Comfy environment. Lots of locals which is always a good sign! And free wi-fi!

The food here is OK, but they SHOULDBEASHAMED of their«NH syrup» for $ 1.50 extra on a pancake purchase, that pretends to be real maple syrup, but is not. This is in the heart of maple syrup country. What they serve is corn syrup, or at least in large part corn syrup. You can tell by the texture when you pour it, and by that distinctive corn syrup taste. But it was represented to us as being real maple syrup, and they charge you $ 1.50 to get it. If you want real maple in Franconia, I suggest you go up Sugar Hill to Polly’s Pancake parlor, where it comes with no extra charge, in granular, crème, and syrup form, all real 100% maple sugar from maple trees.

Got a coffee and bagel, which was barely toasted and not fresh. Nice staff but very slow, took 15min for a bagel. FYI it is cash only and has no restrooms

Very unfriendly staff and mediocre food. I had granola & paid extra for blueberries. They were frozen! Who serves frozen blueberries in July? Will not be back.

Stopped in for lunch and paid $ 30.00 dollars for 2 turkey sandwiches and 1 quiche. Food was good but not great. Mayo wasn’t spread on sandwich so one bite had it all. Quiche was tasty but cold in spots. Staff was not friendly at all and we felt as though we were not welcome.

Dirty/horrible food/slow service/wrong order/expensive This place should be run by someone who cares. Wow… How in the heck is this rated so high??? This is quite possibly the worst place I’ve ever tried to eat. Today was my 5th visit to this place over a 3 year period, each time I have come its been worse and worse. As back story, we want to like this place but its run like shit, with employees(on the weekend anyways who clearly don’t care) The place itself is really filthy but that’s part of the«atmosphere.» We sat in line today and watched 4 out of 4 orders get messed up. 1. Forgot a sandwich, 2. put bacon in the omelet instead of on the side, 3. Didn’t include chips 4. dirty silverware… So, Wife and I ordered a tuna sandwich wrap and turkey on wheat. We got our to go order. And SHOCKiNG we ended up with a disgusting slimy roast beef wrap and my wife with a soggy turkey sandwich with carrots and feta.(Wife allergic to carrots to boot). Sorry, but this place sucks… Would rate a zero if possible. Can imagine it might be okay at 2PM on a Wednesday when they have full time help, just got their food order and are dealing with«regulars». If you are a passerby in this town on a busy weekend, STAYAWAY!!! Trust me your better off eating at McDonald’s at exit 32

The boy and I were up in Franconia for the weekend to do a hike along the ridge. Normally we get sandwiches somewhere to bring on our hikes with us and this was the place we were directed to on this particular day. The interior is incredibly whimsy and homey. The menu is on blackboard walls and the rest of the walls are lined with art and quotes. The couches and atmosphere was so inviting I almost wanted to run back out to the car, grab my book, order a latte, and never leave. But, since we had a schedule to keep, I didn’t get to do any of that. I built my own sandwich, corned beef, tomato and jack cheese on a WW wrap. Incredible. The corned beef was lean and cut nice and thick and the tomatoes were nice and crisp and fresh. The boy got ‘the landing’: ham, alfalfa sprouts, mayo and some other stuff on an everything bagel… also a winner. I don’t usually like ham, but this was yummy. All and all we were very happy with our lunches and I want to go back… so that says something.

3.5* from our lunch, but I’m going to round it up. We needed lunch for our hiking trip, and since Wendle’s will make you sandwiches for breakfast or breakfast for lunch it seemed like a good choice. When you walk in you find yourself in a hippie/hipster café, with chalkboard menus, well-worn couches, and board games, or you can sit at the bar, or you can sit on the porch and enjoy some some of the finest weather summer can provide. We were just getting takeout, but the service was perfectly friendly. For food we both got basic turkey sandwiches with cheddar, one on a sub roll and one on wheat. The sub roll was just average, but the whole wheat was excellent, and both were generous with the turkey. The standout was the zesty coleslaw, which seemed to be a combination of vinegar and thousand islands, but with something added to give it a little bit of heat that was a great touch!

One of my biggest regrets of our vacation(not that I had lots of regrets or anything) was not discovering Wendles until our last breakfast in New Hampshire. I will definitely be coming back next time we visit. The building is a big wood cabin type structure that houses a couple of different businesses. They have a decent size parking area. When you walk in there are several seating areas including couches, high top chairs, and an outdoor patio. The walls are covered with large blackboards, which include the hand written menu, inspirational quotes and doodles. There are board games and magazines to peruse. Their dog, Beauregard, a big sleepy guy, lounges at your feet. Long story short, this place is super adorable. The food lives up to the awesome interior. This place has a ton of vegetarian options on their menu, which gave it big bonus points for me. We came here for breakfast and we both ordered a breakfast sandwhich, the hubby got tea and I got an iced coffee. The woman behind the counter served up our beverages first and we went to a little milk and sugar stand to flavor our beverages to our liking. They served them in giant glasses; the hubby got his in a big, homey mug. Then we waited while she cooked our food from scratch. The hubby ordered a bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich on a sesame bagel. I got a special, which if my memory serves me correctly was kind of like a greek breakfast sandwhich — it had eggs, pesto, feta, spinach, and a few other ingredients I think I’m forgetting on a sesame bagel. It was incredible, so tasty and satisfying while filled with all sorts of healthy goodness. It was also great fuel for the four hour hike we did immediately after. Yum! You should know that this is a cash only place so bring your dinero. Two breakfast sandwiches with two giant caffiene beverages ran us about $ 15.

This place was so good Matt J. and I came here twice during our snowshoeing weekend! Granted there isn’t much else around here, but this sandwich/café spot is exactly the thing we love. I wish we had a place just like this in Boston because I would go there all the time! They have an awesome made-to-order sandwich menu that are pretty elaborate creations. They have special sandwiches of the day too. The one I loved was their hot ham, brie and apple on a toasted baguette. MMMMMmmmmm That melted brie all over that ham and apple was exactly what I wanted. And Matt was really excited about his vegetarian sandwich special too. Definitely not the cheapest sandwiches in the world, but for the ambiance of this little place it makes getting a sandwich more fun I think. They have one of those tables in here that is a checkerboard table complete with giant checker playing pieces so you can play while you eat your sandwich or drink your coffee drink. We got some of their chocolate truffle hot chocolate too one time we went here and man was that hot chocolate good! Way overpriced since it came in a normal sized mug with no refills, but very very tasty. Feel free to send me your hot chocolate recipe if you are reading this Wendle!
