Come on… this place is sending mixed signals. Do you want me to your patron or no? It seems like you do, but then again, you close at 9 pm, you do not have wi-fi or espresso all the time… I do not understand.

This is a great place! I love the atmosphere, so relaxing on the patio, and their selection of gelato is not bad either. A little disappointed that they only had iced coffee(sign says espresso bar), but it’s a nice place, nonetheless. The train station theme with an operational train set is a nice touch, as well.

They have a great location and nice seating inside and out. The gelato was good as well as the sorbet. Forgot to check in first to get my Unilocal coupon so be sure and do that. Only downside — cash only.

The Unilocal check in coupon made our sweet treats buy-one-get-one free! We can’t usually eat more than a small gelato so, score! Service was prompt and friendly and the gelato selection, decent.

The gelato was pretty good on a hot day and the staff was friendly. No qualms there. :) The reason I didn’t rate them higher is because I am perplexed how a business can run WITHOUT accepting credit cards. If a taxi driver downtown can get their own Square machine then certainly Mamma Rosetta’s can find a way to accept credit cards, too. Especially in a plaza where we can’t begin to find an ATM machine. My husband and I had to split a small since we only had a couple bucks between us and if they would have had a credit card machine(and even if I had to pay more to use it) they would have made a much better sale. While we were there we saw 4 – 5 people come and without anything because of this. So, in summary, good product, friendly staff but the lack of cc/debit usage left a bad taste in my mouth.

This place has the most magical, flavorful authentic gelato around. They allow small samples prior to purchasing your flavor. Favors come in three sizes and they will even let you mix half and half in the cup. Cash only no debit credit cards, so be prepared.

I finally got to have some gelato and some sherbet here. Both were very good but the gelato was much better. I had the tangerine which tasted like a dreamsicle, really delicious. I am glad that this place is up and running. The owner sunk a ton of time and effort into the place and it paid off. I think it would be even better with some baked goods for when my wife and I come here for coffee when it’s cold out. Where else can a grown man go to eat ice cream and watch trains chug around the ceiling?

Phew! This place finally opened — we have been waiting and waiting as years have passed. Going inside tonight, I could see why it took so long. It’s gorgeous with total quality, super clean and throwbacks to the railroad line that used to run on the Old Plank Trail which is right next to this fun place. There is even a train whistle chain — pull it and a really loud authentic sounding whistle goes off. Not sure I would want to work there and hear it all night! The deck is fabulous adding to a small but intimate place. We sat inside and sampled each other’s gelato. I liked my daughter’s combo of black chocolate and coconut much better than my own peach. Mine was pretty tart. Had I loved them both, I would have given them 5 stars. I will be back and maybe I will love it all next time. Plus, I have to try the coffee. Glad to have it in the neighborhood!

After four visits since they’ve opened, I have mixed feelings. The quality of the product sold here is fantastic and very affordable, with no skimping on portion size. The girls that work behind the counter are, without fail, charming and attentive to the customer. The build out is lovely, and the location on the Old Plank Trail in quaint downtown Frankfort cannot be beat. My issues fall on ownership/management. It doesn’t seem customer-friendly here, which is a real shame. Outdoor seating areas are often roped off with cable for no visible reason. The owner allows cigar smoking on the deck, and Stogie Fume is not a gelato flavor I want to buy. By noon on one Sunday during the Farmer’s Market, the large garbage can on the deck was full to overflow; there’s no way it had been emptied the night before, and was drawing dozens of bees to the deck. Signage is seriously lacking. No open sign, no hours of operation, no sign telling the customer which of the many doors should be used. Interior signage and layout is equally confusing: we saw one gentleman wandering around trying to figure out where to order coffee. A cup on the counter holds the used plastic gelato spoons, and twice I’ve seen customers grab a spoon thinking they were fresh, clean product: there is no excuse for this. The behind-counter layout doesn’t seem designed for efficiency for the gals who work there, and again, signage could help speed up ordering… identifying for the customer which is gelato, which is sorbetto, and a note explaining the flavors of the product with unfamiliar names. So, in short? Great product in a charming space and location, but with a feeling of arrogance or confusion from ownership towards the service side of operations. Hope they are able to get the kinks out!
