If you’re looking for quality, fresh sushi, good wine, nice atmosphere, great service and a friendly check, you can’t do better. I became a regular a couple of months ago and am never disappointed. Ask for Charun. Ps… the teriyaki is great too.

This is a yummy little lunch spot! I currently frequent Bombay Bistro which is next to Basil, and thought I would switch things up and try something new. I came here with a collegue and it is a great place to have a business lunch. The booths are private and it is a bit more formal and not too loud. The menu is huge! They have a large variety of sushi options, as well as thai currys and your traditional chinese options. I choose the sesamie chicken with white rice(pretty vanilla I know!), but it was great! So many times, Chinese food tastes processed and cheap, but that was not the case here. It was fresh, hot and extremely tasty. It also came with a ginger salad(or miso soup), which was delicious! So for about ten bucks, you can have a full meal that is filling and definately a good deal!

I came to Basil Bistro for dinner on Friday evening and had a really great meal! There’s nothing about it that makes it stand out on its face(the décor isn’t particularly interesting, it’s not particularly big, the name isn’t really all that indicative of the fact that it’s a sushi and Thai restaurant) but they definitely impressed! I haven’t had much luck finding really stand out Thai food near where I live in Maryland, so this was a very welcome meal in my life! I couldn’t decide whether I wanted sushi or a Thai dish, so I was really happy when my husband ordered a sushi roll to split as an appetizer. He ordered the New Yorker roll which was a shrimp tempura roll topped with spicy tuna. It’s simple enough, but they executed beautifully! First of all, it’s huge. That one roll alone could have been a meal for me. Second of all, it was plated beautifully and I wish I could have snapped a photo. Third, and most importantly, it was SOGOOD. It’s a few days later and I’m still thinking about how good that sushi was. If you like spicy tuna and/or shrimp tempura, just do yourself a favor and get this. The *only* issue I had is that I found it difficult to eat with chopsticks, which is ordinarily never a problem for me. Not sure why. For my entrée I ordered the pad thai with tofu. Pad thai is pad thai, so I determine the quality of the dish on how well the tofu is cooked. Surprisingly, a lot of restaurants really miss the mark. Here, the tofu was cooked perfectly. It was crisper on the outside, maybe even grilled, and wasn’t gushy on the inside. It took on a really nice flavor, and there was a lot of it, which makes me happy! The dish was humongous, so much so that I ate not even half of it(even without the sushi app I think I wouldn’t have been able to eat the whole thing) and I wanted to eat so much more. Again, there was only one minor issue — the noodles were soooo long. I was trying to eat as gracefully as I could but I was twirling and twirling the noodles around my fork and it was seemingly neverending. They also don’t give you a knife straight away, so you need to ask for that. I wish I could have packed up Basil Bistro in my suitcase and brought it home with me, because I feel like they could teach some restaurants a thing or two. Really great!

It was ok. Nothing to be overly excited about. The food was fresh and spicy as promised. The flavor was on point but the service was a bit lacking and it’s over priced for what you get.

The level of pure disappointment I experienced in the quality of tuna received for my appetizer was enough to send me out of here to never return. I should’ve known walking in with my party to be the only customers in the entire establishment to be a bad omen and to turn around and leave. It’s a real shame, you know, because my server was a polite gentleman(albeit gave a terrible recommendation on beer) who busted his ass to provide good service. I just can’t get over the quality of the fish though, it wasn’t fresh, and it wasn’t a good cut of tuna at all. I ended up spending later in the evening perched on the porcelain throne for an extended time, enough to browse through all of my Facebook feed and the front page of reddit — much too long to spend on the commode. All in all, I personally won’t be back, but hit up the Indian place across the courtyard there in the plaza.

Place was pretty quite because we were the first customers to arrive. It was early on a Saturday morning when they opened. We started off the the spicy tuna rolls, which were pretty good. My favorite sushi roll, it never fails me lol then for my entrée, I got their drunken noodles. It was pretty good, but I have had better. But it was still filling though. My boyfriend got the lad nah combo, not what he expected because it had too much sauce. It’s supposed to be fried noodles with some sauce, but he said they drenched it in there. All in all, our server was very friendly, food wasn’t bad. I wouldn’t mind going back if I was in the area and wanted some Thai food.

My first time visit to Basil was wonderful! The staff was very accommodating, sweet, and helpful. The food was scrumptious! I can’t wait to come back!

My best friend and I have been here twice. Both times were for dinner, and they usually aren’t crowded. Pretty quiet actually. Prices are decent for a sushi place, and the menu is very big, so there’s a lot of options. I ordered the shashimi deluxe and it was really good, except for the squid… not a fan.

I have been to Basil twice for lunch. The first visit was uneventful and the food was OK. During my second visit, the service was laughable. The table of six next to mine waited for 30 minutes until 2⁄6 people received their food. They finally ended up complaining and ultimately walked out as they had to return to work and the food was still not there. Meanwhile, at my table, our server would disappear for five minutes and it took him four attempts to confirm our order until it was correct. It took about 45 minutes for my party to receive most of our food. The remaining lunch order was requested to be boxed up immediately upon arrival due to the slow service. I will not be dining-in again at Basil.

Basil has amazing food and awesome service. I have only been in around lunch time, but the food is really good. I have had the crab rangoons, hot and sour soup, steak and pepper platter, and even several of their sushi rolls. If you are looking for a nice Asian Cuisine with an intimate dining experience, then Basil is an awesome place.

Really good food, kind service and nice atmosphere here. Enjoyed Lettuce Wraps with Beef, Chicken Satay and Calamari appetizers and a Pagnan Curry Steam Sea Bass with brown rice entrée served with Miso soup. No cheap but not too expensive, either. Will go back.

A long time passed between visits to Basil. However, recently I’ve been there 3 times and I’m sorry to say the service has really gone downhill since my visits a couple years ago. To be fair, there is one young man who is very friendly and tries to do an efficient job, but the team around him has the guy pushing a boulder uphill. It’s apparent they don’t communicate with nie another as you get two servers making the same requests, bringing the same dishes to you… that kind of thing. Trouble is, nice guy is welcoming and helpful…“other guy” clearly just wants you gone. «Other guy» is there a lot and seems to have some authority… but he’s not at all hospitable, and for some reason is at your table constantly. I don’t want to go back to Basil. Hope my friends don’t choose it again.

This is our first visit here. The ambiance is super nice. Just my style. They are very nice. We ate across the board. The miso was fabulous. The ginger dressing on the salads was really good. The salad itself was great. Some places have a small bowl of lettuce with some dressing pre-made. This was a great fresh salad with tomatoes and cucumber. The sushi was great. We had a New Yorker, Mexican, and Paradise. All great. We also had a California and salmon and tuna Nigiri. All good and the fish is fresh! Unfortunately, we also had a wonton soup and pad see yew and oh boy, no salt. So we will happily return and eat sushi! Yay!

Basil serves up great Thai cuisine, and the restaurant has a nice romantic ambiance. I tend to stick with the Thai dishes over the sushi here. I’ve gotten sushi in the past and it’s fine, but I’ve had better elsewhere in the area. Every fried rice, curry, or noodle dish I’ve had at Basil has been delicious and perfectly spiced. We have had prompt and friendly service on all of our visits.

Good sushi(trucked in from international distributor in Atlanta) and good Thai food. Their curries are nice as are the MooGoo GaiPan as well as the noodles. Appalling service sometimes, but what can you do? I think it’s very family run and that may be the reason. Another addition to the woes that take them back a star is their pricing. It’s not always as good as you would want for the price. If you have time, like sushi, curry, or noodles, and have some cash to spend, try this restaurant.

Summary… 4-star service with 1.5-star food. When I go to a Thai place I’d order noodle dish, curry dish and stirfry dish. They all tasted horrible… Drunken noodle was so horrible that I could not even eat 25% of it. Change the chef and keep the servers…

I used to live in Franklin and I loved Basil(this was 4 years ago)…this week I went back for business and I stopped for lunch. The place was almost empty at 12:30PM. I was greeted promptly and I decided to go for the Spring rolls and Pork Lettuce wraps. The rolls were nicely done, crispy, flaky and light… The pork was bland and kind of tasteless… I added a few of the spicy sauces that they have at the restaurant and that made the dish a lot more edible. The lettuce leaves were crisp and fresh. Overall a nice… OK…experience but nothing like I remember…
