This place is pretty much crap. Its overpriced and a lot of their clothes are dirty or torn. Basically crap. I gave an extra star cause I did buy a nice sweater for work there once. Yeah, thats about it…

I went there looking for furniture(which most thrift stores in the area run out of quickly) and we found TONS… but they were all ridiculously priced! There were dressers for $ 400(that’s right, FOURHUNDREDDOLLARS), recliners for $ 200, etc. A lot of the stuff looked«like new», but still. This is a Salvation Army store! They get this stuff for free! I could buy something new for just as much! Needless to say, I’m flabbergasted. Does ANYONE have an explanation for these prices??! Usually people who shop here can’t afford to pay any price like that. It’s ridiculous. I predict that that furniture will be sitting there for a good long while. And it wasn’t just the furniture that was overpriced. As we were leaving, we saw a bunch of recently donated toys that were $ 20 to $ 40. I think the concept of «thrift store» is lost here.

This is a typical dingy SA store. It’s not clean, and they put junk on the shelves which has no customer looking for it. It’s kindof a repository of misshapen, ill-conceived, and wasteful dreck. But it’s cheap. The biggest problem is that the clothing is not separated by size. That makes it a waste of time to shop for what many or most people shop for at thrift. I’m looking for used board games, stemware, and a couple of other things. The games are always in a state of chaos bordering on a Dali painting. But even so, it’s a thrift shop, and you expect some of that. I still make fun finds here, partly because it’s like an archaeological dig. Bring rubber gloves…

Oh, dear. Salvation Army on S. 27th. You’re so full of crap. But… I’m totally willing to dig through it to find the gems. This particular Salvation Army is my 2nd favorite(after the 76th and Greenfield location.) I’ve found some great stuff here, and because the stock is ever changing, I guess you can really only rate the service of the staff and the cleanliness of the location. The staff is kind of hit or miss, I’ve had some super friendly cashiers and some that, well, weren’t as excited to be at work. The location is clean-ish. It’s organized in the sense that the men’s and women’s clothing is separated, and organized by color. But that’s about as organized as it’s going to get, and I don’t really expect much else. Digging through all of the boston terrier sweaters, hotel lamps, and jordache jeans is totally worth it to find those top secret things that I’m looking for. Oh, final note, only use the restroom if you have to. Seriously, hand sanitizer and hand soap aren’t interchangeable.
