Really good liquor store that has a good selections of beers and wines. If you like microbrew/local beers, Beckleys has a good amount. If you’re interested in playing the lottery, they also have a machine to use. Very convenient off of Route 15. Prices are fair. The people that work here are friendly and helpful.

These guys have a great selection of craft beer in MD. Single bottles or 6-Packs. Don’t let the outside fool you…

Preface: ***These 1-star reviews should be removed or ignored. They clearly hold no actual bearing on the reality of what Beckley’s offers and it goes against what Unilocal is about.*** A shockingly varied and wonderful selection of craft beer inspired me to review this place. Tons and tons of fantastic brews, some rare, that were so varied that it gives this small, roadside place real personality and definition. The only thing standing in the way of a 5-star review is how crammed in and random some of the order, organization and layout is when looking through the vast array of brews. To give craft brew enthusiasts a taste, when I stopped in today I saw some great finds: special Great Divide offerings, Uinta Dubhe, Samuel Adams small-batch series, DuClaw, new and special brews from Appalachian Brewing Co., a nice array of Lagunitas(I bought Imperial Red), Green Flash Brewing Co., the new Flying Dog cans, Green’s from across the pond, real Belgians, etc. In sumation, it’s a convenience store that has liquor, wine, beer and true craft brew — leaning heavily to the craft brew side of things — with a location that gives it the feeling of an oasis in the desert. I even had a nice, brief chat with the bearded fellow behind the counter who basically said his favorite beer was the one I consider my «Wife» beer — in sickness and in health, ’til death do us part! Will love ‘er forever.

This is a great liquor/beer store, and the fact that it’s also a hotel is hilarious. They have a good selection of microbrews, as well as a well thought-out liquor selection(yes, they do have liquor). Maybe it’s just that I like the novelty of being able to buy beer and liquor at the same place, but I stop here every time I’m on this stretch of highway.

I stayed at the little motel here, and it was pretty bad. I have a high tolerance for shady motels, but this place had negative odors, pretty dirty floors, a non-working TV remote, and the entire door looked like it had been broken down by the police at one point. I guess I shouldn’t complain about a $ 50 room in Maryland, but still. This place was sketch.

Believe it or not, I have been going to Beckley’s for over 35 years. Granted, it looks the same as it did when I was little and my mom would stop on our way up Route 15 to PA from VA many times per year. This was ALWAYS our pit stop. I used to collect the little US States glasses they sold — I got one each time(wish I still had them). The restaurant is gone and the gift shop isn’t what it used to be, but what nice people and a fabulous wine, liquor and beer selection. On a recent Christmas Day trip to PA they were OPEN! We quickly u-turned(didn’t think they’d be open) and picked up some wine and right now I’m drinking a rare ‘Duck Pond’ ’08 Pinot Noir from Oregon and it was priced fairly and it’s delicious. If you haven’t stopped here, you MUST. A true classic and a hidden gem for your alcohol and snack needs!

I live nearby and I make it a point to stop by this place for my beer/liquor needs. They have everything I need with an extremely helpful staff. If they don’t have something you’re looking for, ask the staff. They’ll dig it up for you, or make sure they get it in stock. Definitely the place to go for alcohol.

Beckley’s Country Store is awesome! They’ve got plenty of liquor and beer. Mia K., you just need to stop being a wuss, hang a left and walk to the back of the store and you will find a rather good, selection of beer and liquor – the wine is out front, cannot miss it, you’ll practically trip right over it. Beckley’s is a real country store, not one of those government run outlets you will find in Montgomery County or elsewhere. This place has real personality; staffed by real down-to-earth people who will take their time to strike up a conversation and give you a friendly smile. If you ever get the guts to go back in, say hi to Sam, who runs the place, and/or Mike who helps out, are two of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet! The Beckley’s motel, now that’s a different story. It definitely reminds me of the Bate’s motel in the movie Psycho! Read Michael H’s review regarding the motel!

The sign that read«LIQUOR» from the highway pulled me in off of 15 to stock up on party supplies with Maryland sales tax. The lack of actual LIQUOR got me back in my car quickly — but not before 2 crazy mountain men tried talking to me.
