This place is always packed and had really Good food, but lackluster service and the fact that I smelled like a taco kitchen the rest of the night after we left was horrible.

My first visit to this restaurant and I will not be back. Terrible service… Andy our server, simply put, horrible! He was completely inattentive. We had to ask for drink and water refills constantly from any wait staff we were able to find. We waited over an hour to order our dinner and just as long for it to arrive. Our dinner was served luke warm at best. Disgusted that I wasted my time and money at this place. If I could select no stars I would.

Great Mexican food. Had the Aztec platter last night. Salsa and chips are fresh. Overall great place

This place has a great Happy Hour menu. I enjoyed the tasty mussels which did not have one, tiny grain of sand. Fresh toasted bread tasted delicious sopped in the juice — could have used a little more garlic and white wine in it. But, it was a dreary, rainy day, and I was surprised to get a nice, medium-sized bowl of mussels for Happy Hour prices. I left with a full tummy and feeling like I could endure the rain for a little bit longer that day.

This place used to be my favorite in Frederick but has really gone downhill in recent years. I’ve had a couple mediocre experiences but after the last one I decided that I won’t be returning. My boyfriend and I were sat next to a large party of about 6, which took all of our servers priority. After ordering, we waited for 45 minutes for our food. I finally found the server cleaning glasses behind the bar and asked how much longer our food will be. He looked at me with confusion and stammered that it would be «just another minute». I sat back down and our food suddenly arrived, soggy and cold. So disappointing.

Perfect. Food is great service is friendly. Walked out of LA Paz because it was gross and this was perfect. Bartender was nice accommodating and professional. 5 stars.

No reservation, Friday 8:30pm, party of 8. Restaurant is huge, staff pulled together tables. Then 7 other friends walked in. Staff said«no problem». 5 minutes later they had a long table for 15. All with a smile even though it was at the end of the night. Yep, separate checks by couple(some didn’t even sit together). Waitress knew exactly how to handle the large party. Again, this is all on-the-fly. Service and food were excellent, and the bills were all correct at the end. Wow. Impressive waitstaff! The seafood soup looked incredible, other dishes were all very good to excellent. This situation ends in disaster 90% of the time, but not at Cacique! BRAVO!

This was was amazing. The beef was tender and flavorful. The service was amazing and the people were friendly. I do not usually leave reviews and I see this place only received three stars but I beg to differ. Try this place

This is a «Spanish» style restaurant, but to me it seems a bit more Mexican than Spanish. I went on a very busy Saturday so the service was slow. The biggest problem was there was no hostess for the first 10 minutes we were there. The food was okay, i got the duck, one of my favorite dishes when done right. Overall is was okay, the duck was definitely over cooked and the only saving grace was the sauce paired with it that was amazing and helped save some of the flavor of the dried out meat. I’ve also been here for brunch, and lunch, both of those experiences were much better. The food overall is better than your classic Mexican place but not by much.

The food is really not up to the mark! I have been there 4 times, and it just tastes really blah.

Made reservations for 10 people at 7. Didn’t get sat until after 7:25. Sat down at table and did not get menus. So the start to my wife’s birthday sucked. Then we ordered drinks which took way too long and when the appetizers came out they only brought one and then the rest of them 5 minutes later. Dinner was ok as it took a very long time for the food to come. Sorry to say but we will not be going back. Wish it would have been better.

I sat at the bar on a Sunday evening. The staff was friendly but did not check in with me as often as I would expect. I ordered the vegetable fajitas. I wasn’t very impressed…

I had a wonderful experience. The food and service were impeccable. I had the Chile relent, the I’ve ever had. My friend from El Salvador throughly enjoyed his Paella. We will be back.

I’m officially a huge fan of Cacique. I’ve walked by it dozens of times and I’m glad we finally went in to try it out. I had the lomo saltado(man, I hope that is correct) and it was so, so good! Very tender beef mixed with peppers and onion and a flavorful sauce. It just had the perfect amount of spice to it. My husband had fajitas which he really enjoyed. Two other people in our party has this really awesome looking seafood soup(I wish I could remember what it was called). It was stacked with seafood including half of a freaking lobster and giant scallops. Both said it was delicious so that has to be my next meal at Cacique. Moral of the story: the food was good, the service was good, the ambiance is nice. We will definitely be back soon.

I have to say, Cacique is probably the better of the Mexican food choices in Frederick for food. It’s heads above La Paz, but it’s still not great overall. The Good: Large portions, decent food. The fajitas were good and we had leftovers to take home. The Bad: the interior is tired and dark, the service is slow and not very attentive, kinda pricey for what you get. I’m not likely to return anytime soon. I wish Frederick would get a good, modernly decorated Mexican restaurant.

We love Cacique, always great food! One of our favorites is their Chicken noodle soup! Yes, Chicken noodle soup. It is always made with fresh ingredients and the vegetables are always al dente. As long as it takes to make, I have to guess it is made when ordered. Also, noticed that our bowl sizes are never the same. LOL, always generous, but different sizes. I also always go for their Black Margaritas, yummy! Bön Appetit!

First off… Get the server who looks like a clone of Arya Stark because she is just phenomenal(hint hint… we had a vegetarian in the crew and with 9 people, and she was still a champ). Everything from the chips(yes you can really judge a Mexican place by the quality of the chips) to the sangarita to the salsa was just simply spectacular. I honestly had better food here than I had in «elite» Mexican food places in Arizona and Texas. I especially like how the portion sizes while generous aren’t insanely ridiculous. We ordered from across the menu spectrum and everything was a wow hot, fresh, and served quickly beyond belief…

This was one of two downtown restaurants that were open on Christmas Day so my mom and I decided to eat here after mass. The host was really welcoming but the server didn’t seem happy to be there, though frankly I don’t blame him. Who wants to work on Christmas? In a nutshell, Cacique is fine. The chips and salsa were fine. The beef chimichanga was fine, though barely warm in the middle. The fried ice cream was fine. The drinks were lame. My mom said she couldn’t taste any tequila in her margarita and my Sprite was completely flat. Oh, and my water glass was dirty. I’d give Cacique another try just because they’re in a prime location but I’ll stick to Tex Mex staples like burritos and nachos. Based on the first impression, it probably wouldn’t be worth trying the Spanish side of the menu.

We stopped in for lunch one Saturday a couple weeks ago. The tiny patio outside was crowded, but inside was rather empty. I thought it was going to be kind of dive-y(which I’m fine with!) based on the way the patio looks, but it was more high-end feeling when we got inside. I got the fish tacos and they weren’t great The tilapia that was used didn’t taste especially fresh and I was bummed that they used hard taco shells. They tasted stale and I would have preferred soft shells. Hubby really enjoyed the chicken taco bowl and I have to admit – the chicken was seasoned perfectly and was moist and delicious. Dad got cheese enchiladas and he liked his meal, too. Service was not stellar, either. Our waiter was friendly enough, but after we finished eating we waited around for a good 15 minutes with no waitstaff interaction before I got up to find someone to close out our bill.
