Flaming Grill and Supreme Buffet

My friends and co-​workers say if you want to know about a particular restaurant, just ask me. I entered The Flaming Grill w/​high hopes that were to be thoroughly dashed. The main buffet was bland and uneventful. The one star I give is for the Hibachi Grill. The sushi was awful. I was charged $ 1 for hot tea (a teabag in a pot of very hot water) while my (still) favorite Chinese buffet/​sushi bar in Frederick charges .25 cents for theirs. The main reason I come is for the sushi. As I left the mgr? asked me how it was, by now I was peeved and told him that the main buffet was terrible and the sushi was cold. He laughed at me and said «sushi supposed to be cold». I disagree. Their rice was so cold that it crumbled like BBs and made it difficult to pick up w/​chopsticks, the hardened rice also repelled any attempt to absorb my wasabi/​soy sauce not to mention the texture (and temp.) while chewing was not pleasant. Cold? The fish itself perhaps but never the rice. I can think of one (Chinese/​sushi buffet) in Gaithersburg & one in Hagerstown that is worse than this but none in Frederick.

Tried the lunch buffet here and found the spread to be pretty large. There was a lot of stuff to choose from and it was pretty inexpensive. We were six people and our bill came out to be around $ 42 before the tip. We got a 10% discount for checking in on Unilocal.
The dishes that stood out amongst the ones I tried were the spinach and cheese bake, salt and pepper squid, grilled chicken and the baked potatoes.
3.5 stars actually for this place, rounded to the next star for the extremely reasonable pricing.

We first came here with a group in the fall of 2014, and the food was satisfactory.
Tonight – 1.5 stars at best.
White rice was a congealed mess, and there wasn’t much of it. Chicken pieces for sweet-​and-​sour were overcooked and tasteless. Roast beef is inferior to their competitor’s steak pieces.
Flaming Grill offers ice cream in Dixie cups, like school lunchrooms. Their competitor offers several tubs of higher quality ice cream; scoop-​your own.
We had a coupon with various offers. The cashier didn’t apply the most advantageous offer. It was only a matter or a few cents, but…
Don’t worry about the coupon, folks. We won’t be back.

This is a buffet style restaurant with truly tasteless food (yes, tasteless, not tasty). The only way I’d recommend this place is if you are starving and don’t mind eating tasteless grub.
Fortunately the selection is huge and ranges from American Chinese food to regular fried American grub. The place is huge.
I’ve been here a few times (only because the people I’ve been with were very hungry and in search of a buffet) and all I actually enjoyed were: the sugar bread (found in the fried food section?), chocolate and vanilla cake and the grapes.
If you want to not waste your money (although it’s decently priced) and eat food that is actually satisfying, go somewhere else! There are lots of better options just down the road.

Not bad. They have a large selection of hibachi if you’re into that sort of thing. Also be sure to use the 10% off Unilocal discount during lunch.

Not a bad place to get a quick meal with a large selection for lunch, don’t expect top quality prepared food it’s a buffet and food sits and loses its taste if it even had taste when cooked. Desserts are ok kids would love this place. Just don’t try and take out a first time date here, she may never go out with you again

The best thing about this place are the stuffed shrimp. However, there is not as much food variety. Out-​of the two times have been in this place, the waitresses have been extremely rude. My friend and I were on our second plate and the waitress kept asking us if we were done. It felt as if we were been kicked out. The waitress just grabbed my credit card before i had the chance to give to her in a proper manner. I am never coming back to this place again.

Gross. The only dish that was decent was the hibachi grilled plate — the grill guy kept talking to me in Spanish, which I do not speak unfortunately. Everything else tasted like typical cheap and poor quality buffet food. I had my hopes up too. Place was dirty, sticky, and off putting.

It was just alright to me. There was a great variety of food on the buffet but the taste and quality of the food was nothing spectacular. The price per person was affordable… the food was just mediocre.

Tasty and cheap. The bill for the lunch buffet came out to $ 25 for three people to be completely stuffed. The food choices are diverse but its mostly Chinese food. The hibachi grill is the best part!

I am not a fan of Chinese buffets, but this one besides the one on security in Baltimore, is probably on the best ones you’ll come across in the Maryland area.
Their sushi isn’t great at all. I liked their stir fry section better and their fried onion rings aren’t too bad. Dessert bar has a lot of variety, but a lot of it if not all is pretty bad.

Went here Sunday for lunch with the hubs. Was extremely excited to see such a vast selection of items on the buffet as well as a sushi and hibachi station especially out in Frederick. The prices weren’t bad at $ 10.99 a person but didn’t include drinks which was fine. We were seated and asked what we wanted to drink and told to go ahead to the buffet. I made a plate of hot food and another plate full of sushi. When I got to the table the hubs was already eating. He asked me if everything tasted the same. At the time I was eating my sushi which wasn’t too bad for a buffet. He said it tasted like everything was fried in the same oil. He also said the fried shrimp tasted like they were the frozen kind you’d buy at a grocery store. Needless to say he barely are his small helpings on his plate, definitely not $ 10.99 worth. I started to eat my hot items and knew exactly what my husband was talking about. The food was mediocre at best but I don’t like to waste food so I tried to eat as much as I could. I went back for some fried wings and a bowl of soup. After that I was pretty much done. The service was like any other buffet and decide wasn’t too bad. I just wished the food was a little better but for the price I guess you get what you paid for.

My first time visiting this location, but I was just as satisfied as the other location. Great place to bring the family when you don’t want to cook, but you everyone to be full. The food was fresh and the sushi was even better. They have such a big selection, it’s hard to say what was the best part! Just try it!

This is a pretty typical large Chinese buffet. They have a great selection of seafood, sushi, and other types of foods and desserts. The grill is a pretty great option too. The restaurant looks clean and the service was okay. However, I left here with a splitting headache from the massive amount of MSG used on the food!

If you are a glutton and hard of tasting this buffet is for you. One single flavoring on EVERYTHING, salt and sugar, to the nth degree. Disappointing and nauseating.

Not the best by any means. Scary and sketchy. Most ppl that go in are the same way. ha but seriously. Chef Lin in Jefferson st is way better.

We really like this place! The low price makes the great selections even better. $ 8 for lunch includes sushi and eight tables of nice entrees, salads, desserts, and other surprises. The place is well decorated, plays standard American music, and has VERY clean, modern restrooms.
Safe choice for visitors to Frederick! Give it a try!

I think this place is great! The only thing I don’t like are the price changes for lunch and dinner, it gos up ALOT. Last time we got there an hour befor dinner, but they still charged us for dinner??? Told the lady at the desk and she thankfully fixed it, but seriously don’t try to slide things like that. It won’t work. Just because I’m in my 20’s dousent mean I’m not going to look at my bill Nd just hand U my credit card. My fiancé’s Stomach gets upset about 88% of the time we come here but mine is fine! I was always nervous about trying sushi at a buffet, but I tryed it here and you could tell it wasn’t sitting out for too long. Overall good place to eat.

I’ve been here before and for the extremely low price you get a fairly standard Chinese buffet. We got here at 7 tonight, and at 7:45 we have not been seated yet, even after other people have come in ands been seated. I’m not sure if it’s because we are minorities or overweight but apparently they have no interest in serving us. Also the crane games in the waiting room are both turned on but neither of them work after you put money in. Point is don’t bother trying this place if you have more than four people, especially if any of them are, i guess, black or over 300lbs.
Finally got sested. Everything is covered in a combination of either a slimy msg sauce or a sticky msg sauce. Everyone’s belly is upset and we haven’t even got the bill we have been waiting for twenty minutes for.
