We’ve eaten here a few times before, on the menu at regular prices(which aren’t too bad). We have enjoyed these meals. This time we came with a pre-arranged lunch group of about 30 people. There was one price, $ 25.20 for about 8 items on a special menu. «Dessert», non-alcoholic beverages and 20% gratuity included. The bread on the table was stale – not even day-old bread, but older. The food was all right – my wife and I had«Carolina Pulled Pork» sandwiches and French fries. The«Carolina» is East Carolina style, which we like. There wasn’t too much meat in the sandwich. The FFs were very overcooked. Coleslaw was good. «Dessert?» I expected slices of cake or pies, or a scoop of ice cream, or something like that. What we got for 30 people was one small tray of tiny tarts and thimble-sized pieces of chocolate cake. These were gone quickly and a second, smaller tray of the same things was brought out by the staff. Gone quickly also. I guess these«desserts» came from Costco. I can get a better lunch for half that price, elsewhere.

Nice gem in the area. Always good food. We had the lamb and the scallops recently. Great dishes. The calamari is one of the best around, melt in your mouth tender. Crime Brûlée was great, but could use a bit more candied crust on top

I really loved this restaurant. I love Mom and Pop restaurants so I chose this one after a recommendation from a friend. It is located a bit off the beaten track in an old house near Urbana Maryland. We went on a Tuesday for lunch. The ambiance was warm and inviting. Our waiter, Joe was very well informed, extremely attentive, and very frank when answering our questions. He brought us our drinks in a timely manner. I ordered the cranberry cosmopolitan. Perfect. Next we ordered the mussels for appetizer. The sauce was just the way we liked it, light and flavorful. My husband ordered the crab quiche that came with a green salad. He was very pleased with his order and he especially enjoyed the flaky crust. I ordered the miso salmon. It is served with rice and steamed broccoli. The salmon was cooked to perfection. Their version is much better than the one at Cheesecake Factory. After eating a delicious meal, we ordered their amazingly decadent desserts. My husband ordered the cheesecake and I had the coconut pound cake. I must say I have never enjoyed dessert more. That was the best pound cake ever. I highly recommend this place for lunch. We will definitely be back.

Outstanding restaurant! Great selections on the menu. The place is a bit hard to find, though. If you drive too fast on Urbana Pike, you’re apt to pass right by it. I did. Twice. But when I finally figured out how to navigate the driveway into the gravel parking lot, I was thrilled with the discovery. It’s especially nice in warm weather; you can sit on their outstanding patio and eat under the stars. And they let me smoke my cigar after my meal! That, in and of itself, earns my eternal patronage. The chef here is a real craftsman. Every dish I’ve tried has wowed me! Excellent preparation. Fine presentation. It’s a bit pricey, but as I’ve repeatedly said — you get what you pay for in this world. If you’re trying to impress a date or your out-of-town relatives, the Crossing is bound to do the trick. Just don’t drive too fast on Urbana Pike.

Not really sure what the big deal is here. We have yet to have an experience that meets the prices. Way overrated. We have given it three tries and won’t be making a third.

Ok, I’m all in about this place. I’ve been twice and all the items were great. 2 different dining companions and they too were impressed. The staff, very eager to please. Even the younger servers. Joe, decent guy who served us, but all wetter friendly and welcoming. They get pretty booked on weekends, so make a reservation. No complaints so far. This is my new off t g r beaten path choice. Looking forward to more casual dining and group dining events!

First time to Monocacy crossing. Will definitely try again. The food was good, but the service was just average. We had a party of 5, and several of our appetizer and entrée dishes came out at different time, making it a little awkward. Several of us had various beef dishes which were very tasty. One of our group had the seafood risotto and said it was just OK. The desserts were yummy, and the allowed us to bring in our own wine with a corkage fee of $ 25 per bottle which was a bit steep. We will definitely try again, to give them another chance to up their game in the service component of our dining experience.

This is a great little place to eat. The outside seating is wonderful on a beautiful day. The food was really good; they had a nice selection of dishes and everything was reasonably priced. The outdoor seating area is really nice. My ONLY complaint was that they allow smoking outside in the eating area, which just seems really inappropriate. I realize Frederick County doesn’t have laws against smoking, but I think we’re at the point where we realize second-hand smoke is a health hazard. Someone was smoking near us and it was really obnoxious. If they had a no-smoking policy, this would have been a 5-star review.

This was kind of an all over the place experience when it comes to giving it a true rating — basically, the food is incredibly mediocre but the ambiance and the service are fantastic. I always complain about not being able to split these aspects of a dining experience on Unilocal but in this cause it was a particularly striking difference. I’m a vegetarian and they only had one option on the menu for me — the gnocchi — and they just didn’t blow me away. My arugula-citrus dressing salad was just not tasty. The place is incredibly cozy though, and the service top notch — so I was particularly disappointed the food is so meh.

We drove from Hagerstown hoping to eat here. We chose it specifically because it was listed as pet friendly. Well, they are a little bit pet friendly. They only seat the four outdoor corner tables with pets. And guess what? There were only four tables taken and all four were the corner tables. None of the four groups had pets. The hostess/bartender seemed annoyed when we requested an outdoor table because we had a pet. Not so pet friendly in my opinion.

Came here on a Saturday night with family, 4 adults, 1 toddler. Unilocal reviews are right on. This place looks small from the outside but it holds a lot of people. Some of the reviews ding this place for the décor which is dated and in need of updating but the food is fabulous. We started with the duck nachos and calamari. Both were excellent. They came hot and there was enough for all four adults to share. Of course, nachos never seem to be great because all of the stuff is piled on the top and it is hard to get a good bite of everything. Our party had Crispy Buttermilk Chicken, Pork Chop Special, Ricotta Gnocchi, and BBQ Gulf Shrimp. Everyone was delighted with their entrees and the accompanying potatoes were real smashed redskins,(appropriate for the area) and nicely prepared broccoli. Large portions for the price and very flavorful. We were stuffed but ordered dessert to go. I got the peach cobbler and it was good warmed up the next day. The Coconut Pound cake is fantastic. Not really a restaurant for children as they have NO kid’s menu but will accommodate with chicken finger selection. Will return sometime in the future when we are back in Frederick.

I went here for my birthday brunch with a friend and I will not be going back ever. I left disappointed and sad. Don’t go there if you want to ask for a side of scrambled eggs — this is indicative of how inflexible the kitchen and the management seems to be. Also, note that you want to ask a lot of questions about the menu and prices because half-price wine is listed as what looked to me like full-price so I thought the bill would be smaller. Frederick has a lot of places where people will welcome you and provide a great dining experience. SKIP this place with shabby décor and overpriced food. Also, beware that I had no cell phone reception while sitting there so getting in touch with all my party members was a pain since texting barely worked and I could not make any calls.

Lovely anniversary dinner. Food was excellent and service was excellent. Relaxed and casual place, where you can sit inside or outside on the patio. We arrived early and they seated us right away. I like the menu, good variety. I like the fact they suggest which wine goes with your meal. I got the special which was a white fish from Iceland. Fresh and cooked perfectly!

Hands down my favorite restaurant. Reasonably priced, creative, delicious dishes! The menu changes seasonally but some of the best things I’ve had are: the artichoke beignet appetizer, whiskey duck nacho appetizer, grilled caesar salad, lamb shank with mashed sweet potato dinner. Atmosphere is upscale casual. I’ve been for birthdays, anniversaries, and quick lunches on the patio.

Monocacy Crossing has never disappointed me. The food is always fabulous, the staff attentive and friendly, and the owners offer a menu that should satisfy any pallet. The layout is a little different, but I am here for the food and drinks. Yes, yes, yes. So it has a tiny men’s room and the décor is a little outdated. Get over it.

I love this place! Every time we come the food and service are great! I’ve never been disappointed in this place. Don’t let the location and outside fool you, this is one of the greatest gems in Maryland!

So this review has me puzzled. The restaurant felt very«towny» and dated. Honestly, I would expect to eat burgers and grandma’s meatloaf here. THEFOODWASFABULOUS! I was stunned by the delicious french cuisine and the spectacular menu. It was a BIG menu, It’s just strange to me how the upscale food was paired with a run down almost dreary restaurant. My wife and I were on a date and some college kids in sweatpants came in… it just was a strange mixture of elegant food in an almost divey place that appeared to be trying to be upscale… I just don’t get it. I think the food that most typifies this place was the Duck Nachos… They were ok, to me they just were nachos with DUCK on them. Nice quality ingredient on NACHO’s… Weird.

Cute little place in between Urbana and Buckeystown. My sister and I made reservations for a Friday night and were seated immediately upon arrivals by friendly staff members. The restaurant seems very outdated and could deff use some renovation to spruce it up but I’m really here for the food. :-) I’m on a part-time vegetarian kick so my choices were limited. For appetizers we ordered the crab dip which also had spinach and fresh corn in it. It was simply delicious, the corn was fresh and juicy. There deff could’ve been much more crab meat in the dip for the price. For entrees I ordered the Summer Vegtables over Tallegate with pesto. The vegetables(zucchini and squash) were fresh and cooked to perfection, not soggy and styrofoam-y. The only bad thing was how much parsley there was as a garnish, the little pieces kept getting stuck in my throat and made for an almost dangerous meal. My sister ordered the BBQ Gulf shrimp and Grits, she had great remarks on her entrée. I tried the grit and they were great, nice and creamy without being thick. The star of our meal was deff the dessert. Oh my, we ordered the flan and baby it was AMAZINGGGG. The caramel was perfectly sweet, not overpowering and the custard was creamy and rich without being dense. It was stuff but still held up a nice fluffy texture. Just amazing. I would deff come here again. Hopefully they renovate soon so it can become a nice and fun environment!
