Walked around this park for a little while in town. On a Sunday afternoon, there were a mix of families, couples, and bikers/walkers/joggers. The setup is very nice, it looks like it was recently redone. There’s little shops along part of the park, which is all along Carroll Creek. It looks to be well-kept & orderly. Nice little nature break in downtown.

From the Downtown Frederick Partnership website: «Located between Carroll Creek and All Saints, Mullinix Park offers playground equipment, benches, grills and more for a great family outing. Diggs Pool is located within Mullinix Park.» This is my neighborhood park. Sometimes there are teenagers playing basketball or skateboarding on the basketball court and occasionally there are families with young children on the playground, but usually there are just a bunch of homeless people, drug dealers and other«undesirables» milling around. I know the economy is bad and everything, but I don’t see this happening at any other Frederick park in the extreme that it happens at Mullinix Park(except maybe Carroll Creek Linear Park at Market Street). Diggs pool is small, but nice and is really never very crowded; probably because there are only about four parking spaces. If you park on All Saints or in the garage across from the fire station, it isn’t much of a walk and worth it to avoid the crowds. It’s a shame because this really is a great little park and I would love to see it attract more families and people using it for recreation purposes, but who wants to hang out and hear people fighting and cursing and loud music and watching drug deals while you’re trying to enjoy«a great family outing»?
