Great experience! Had just come from a tasting, so we just wanted a glass of wine to take outside to the patio area, and sip and relax on a warm, weekday afternoon. CJ was a lovely hostess — warm, welcoming and informative. Two other gentlemen greeted us, also — we felt they were really glad we came. Oh, and the wine was delicious, too!

These people made us feel welcome the minute we walked in. Our host, CJ was so friendly, and informative. Great experience. Loved their wine. Now, one of my favorite wineries. We’ll definitely be back.

Incredibly friendly winery! Maybe even the friendliest on the wine trail! This is a winery for those who love dry wine, I didn’t know that going in but my hostess CJ was accommodating from the start. Best experience I’ve had by far! Thanks!

Lost Draw is a family run collaboration of Andy Timmons, Andrew Sides, and Troy. Andy Timmons is well known amongst Texas Wine Makers as the pioneer for grape growing in Texas. Andy comes from several generations of Texan farmers. He turned his eye from cotton and peanuts to grapes awhile ago and is now the largest grape farmer in Texas. He owns and manages 500 acres which yield about 30 different varietals. Andy’s grapes have been used by many well known Texas wine makers. He is also the first Texan farmer to use wind machines in his vineyard. Last Draw Vineyards is physically located in Terry County, in the Texas High Planes AVA. In 2015 Andy joined with some family makers to open a tasting room in Fredericksburg. I like that the tasting room is off main street, so a bit quieter. It also has a dog friendly outdoor patio. Inside the modern warm wood tones of the tasting room invite and welcome you. The staff are friendly and most knowledgeable about the wine being served. You can pay for a tasting, and keep the souvenir glass. I can’t remember how many wines you can select from the menu for your tasting. Their tasting menu currently showcases a selection of estate wines(100% Texas), and blends created from grapes sourced from out of state. My favorites on the tasting menu are the Gemütlichkeit, Arroyo Rojo, and Tempranillo. The Tempranillo year over year is consistently delicious. It is an estate wine. I think the only wine on the menu that is average for me is the Viognier. Everything is good, well balanced, and has a good structure profile. If you are touring the local winemakers, you cannot miss a visit to Lost Draw. Andy did help shape the Texas wine industry that we enjoy today.

Extremely friendly people! We were on the Wine Lovers Trail and showed up during a private party that we didn’t know was going on. They brought us in anyway and set us up with David for a tasting. He was great! The wine was very good, the best we had out of seven wineries. We ended up joining the club and are very excited to visit again! Be sure and stop by Lost Draw!

This was my very first wine tasting experience, and it was greater than I could’ve hoped for. You have to ask for CJ! She’s so personable and willing to share all of her knowledge about each of the wines. I’m so glad that I decided to come to the smaller venues than the big ones on Unilocal. It was much more intimate and relaxing. Thanks for the memorable experience and delicious Tempranillo, Lost Draw! I’ll definitely be back.

Worst service ever. They don’t even give the courtesy of a water rinse before the next pour while wine sampling, much less observe who has actually been waiting vs. just assuming it was the couple that just walked in. Outside of the Tempranillo which was good(not great) the wines are mediocre at best. We should have know better when the staff couldn’t pronounce the names of the wines… embarrassingly horrible service.

I have never experienced customer service quite like that of the lovely staff at Lost Draw. Genuine, down to earth, passionate people who LOVE their job, have fun doing it and it shows! They have a beautiful tasting room and spectacular outdoor area that is also pet friendly. I cannot say enough about my experience here, absolutely meritorious. I will definitely return and highly recommend Lost Draw! Also, David is awesome. –And no, I promise I did not write this after one of the entire bottles of the delicious wine I bought from them :)

I can’t begin to say enough about not only the wine at this winery, but the wholesome hospitality from the owners! We walked right in to a very warm welcome and immediate tasting with a very polite and knowledgeable employee. We were then greeted by the owner who led us outside to the warm fire pit and laid back atmosphere of the patio area. The owner’s sweet wife then came over to greet us as well and made us feel like we weren’t visiting a winery as out-of-towners, but actually being welcome into their home which is how they treat this winery. We took home some wine for the holidays and we can’t wait to return this summer!

We really enjoyed our time here. We actually liked EVERY wine on the tasting list, which is unusual! We got to meet two of the three of owners who were very engaging with us and enjoyed sharing their passion for their wines. We will definitely be back. The great thing is that it’s very close to downtown Fredericksburg, and has some nice outdoor space, but not the expansive beautiful views of some of the wineries that are further out. Not a negative, just a comment.

This was by far the highlight of our day, Lost Draw Cellars. Even though they were technically closed on the day we were in Fredericksburg, they answered my call and told us to come right in. They were hands down the most hospitable winery we had been to all day. The owners shared their story and were genuinely interested in our story as well. The wine was very consistent compared to other wineries. Definitely would go back and even consider joining their wine club. This production is going places and I would recommend it to anyone.

Troy was absolutely fabulous! The wine tasting experience was such fun. And what a great find! All of the wines are so full on flavor! I joined the wine club while there and just can’t wait for my first shipment!!! Being a local, I promise you won’t be disappointed with your visit to Lost Draw! The outdoor patio was gorgeous as well with the shade trees and the nice water fountain! I just can’t wait to return for another wonderful experience!!!

Great winery, right in town with live music and an outdoor seating area! Staff is super nice as mentioned in the other reviews. They make you feel at home and really go out of the way to take care of their customers. We got the 5 samples for $ 12 and really enjoyed all the wines we tasted. I usually don’t get white wine but we tried it and it was really good. My favorite was the blush wine. We took two bottles home and can’t wait to go back when they have live music. Highly recommend when you are in town.

I was really surprised to find the best winery I visited in Fredericksburg to be in the actual town of Fredericksburg. Located in an old fuel building, this tasting room offered the best wine, the best company, the best ambiance, and the best employees I encountered while in the region. The tasting room was intimate and rustic. They did a great job fixing up this old building and repurposing it as a tasting area. They also featured a great outdoor sitting area where visitors can enjoy a glass of wine or some food. The employees were all family members and seemed to genuinely enjoy interacting with their guests and each other. They were all having fun and that attitude was contagious enough to spread throughout the tasting room. Everyone in there was having a great time. There are two tasting options: five wines for $ 12 or six wines and a glass for $ 15. I went with the five wine sampler and found the Tempranillo to be their best wine. It was the last wine on the list and I see why they want patrons to end with it. I walked out of the facility with great memories and a positive attitude. I would highly recommend checking this place out as it offers a very unique alternative to the other wineries in the region.

The people who run Lost Draw are some of THE friendliest and politest people my husband and I have ever met. One of them even took off his cowboy hat when we arrived to shake our hands. We had a good time talking to the people there, including one of their daughters, and they gave us recommendations of other places we should go while we were in Fredericksburg. They were also incredibly generous — we paid $ 15 to get 6 tastings plus a glass, but they gave us an extra taste or two. :) Plus, they don’t distribute their wines to stores, so you have to go in if you want to try them! We enjoyed all their wines, especially the three drier reds(the last three on the list below), which tend to be our favorites anywhere. The wines available for tasting when we were there: — 2013 Arroyo Blanco — 2013 Gemütlichkeit — 2013 French Colombard — 2014 Viognier — 2014 Arroyo Rose — 2013 Arroyo Blush — 2013 Arroyo Rojo — 2012 Tempranillo — 2012 Reserve Sangiovese Also, their tempranillo was recently ranked #1 out of 28 Texas tempranillos and won out over Pedernales, another popular winery in the Fredericksburg area(which tied for #9). My husband and I had the Pedernales tempranillo with our dinner and agreed that we also preferred the Lost Draw tempranillo. We even eventually went back to Lost Draw to buy a bottle of the tempranillo. I would definitely go back here, especially to enjoy a glass of wine on one of the days with live music(if I remember correctly, it’s every Saturday from 2−5pm). As mentioned by previous reviewers, it’s a family-owned business and has a great atmosphere, both inside in their tasting room and in their outdoor seating space.

Great people and great prices. A friend and I came by here on a whim to try the dry wines, and we left happy! One of the owners stopped by to visit and make sure we were having a good time and enjoyed what we got to taste. $ 15 for 6 tastings and a glass! Their patio space is nice and shaded with a fountain running in the background.

Went on a wine tasting trip for my 21st and Lost Draw was one of the wineries we visited. Majority of the wine from what I recall, was red, which I learned I am not a fan of(I’m assuming its an acquired taste). But, they had some other great options. And the folks working were super friendly and nice and informative.
