Worst barbecue I have ever had. The brisket tasted like something like it was cooked in a roaster oven. Sure it was tender, but it was cut wrong and over half of it was inedible. All the sides sucked. Avoid this place like it had scabies.

Walking through Fredericksburg at about 5pm, decided to stop with a buddy at a Peach Pit for a plate of peach cobbler. The coffehouse next door had a big banner for cobbler, but was closed… and my buddy noticed cobbler on the menu in the door of the Peach Pit BBQ, which was open. Should have known we were in trouble walking into a BBQ joint with a «cutesy» name. $ 12 and 5 minutes later, the 2 plates of partially cooked peach cobbler a la mode arrives at our table on styrofoam plates. The crust was about half baked… ewwwww. The ice cream on top was ok… the best part… blue bell or other store bought, i’m sure… at least it wasn’t melted. We were a little early for dinner, but being only one of 2 tables seated when the biergarten/restaurant we had just walked from was PACKED shoud have given us a clue. Food was worse than lackluster… but the atmosphere tops it off. Looks like a high end restaurant that went broke w/very little spent to convert to a respectable bbq joint after that… just enough to make it «twilight zone, where are we odd»… Oh wait… there’s more, the weird décor has windows to the kitchen in the hall by the bathrooms… kitchen is down 5 or 6 stairs… so windows from hall look out over tops of shelves… sure would be a good idea to clean the DIRT. RODENTPOO and/or INSECTDROPPINGS from the top shelves when there’s a window looking over it… or in any case… really… You would think the owners/managers would see it and do something… makes you wonder what else they’re missing. Just glad I’m not sick today. Ewwwwwww!

Went to this place after arriving in Fredericksburg and having missed lunch. I was pretty hungry, and BBQ sounded good. I ordered a chopped beef sandwich, and was presented with a pretty average plate. It hit the spot, but honestly wasn’t anything special. I do have to say that I was extremely happy with their sweet tea — nobody does it better than small town Texas. Note: like a lot of places in this town, they have odd business hours. They are mainly open for lunch and closed Mondays.

If you are looking for the WORSTBBQ in the state of Texas, you’ve come to the right place. My friend and I stopped in for lunch on our way to a wedding. The girl at the order counter seemed friendly, took our order and said they’d call our name. We took our seats and heard some loud grunt from the back. I looked at the girl and she gave a look like«They called your name, are you deaf?» I had to walk to the back by the restrooms(which were clean) to pick up our plates. There were no signs or no indication that this was how thing were done. The BBQ sauce looked and tasted like tomato paste and was as bland as I’ve ever tasted. The pinto beans were under cooked. The sausage was as bland as the sauce. The potato salad had no taste of potato whatsoever in it. Finally, the slice of bread had the texture of yesterday’s loaf. My friend had a baked potato with brisket on top, which she said was way too fatty and she had to add ketchup to make eatable. The only think positive I can say was the tea tasted good, although that could be the result of the hot weather and the sliced pickles tasted fresh from the jar. The restrooms did have nice washbowls, but that was the only positive thing about this place. Peach Pit, you truly are the pits when it comes to BBQ.
