We bought a 5 pond bag($ 11) of frozen cherries here on our way south from northern Michigan. We have made several desserts with them and they are wonderfully fresh tasting. Unfortunately, they don’t ship, so we’ll have to find places that sell frozen Door County cherries in Wisconsin.

Great place to stop. Lots of fresh seasonal produce, and very friendly staff. Wonderful bakery. I always stop for their Oat Honey bread for my mom who lives in Muskegon.

We made a quick stop here on our way back from Upper Michigan. I was looking for a quick snack while on the road and thought I could pick up a couple deserts for our neighbors. Everything looks so good! I ordered the sweet potato waffle fries to go. And since I am a «dipper», I asked the waitress if they offered anything to dip the waffle fries in. She mention three things, but I can only remember the garlic dip(which is the one I selected). The garlic dip was like a garlic mayo combination and yup… you guessed it… the flavors did not match up with the sweet potato waffle fries. I did however enjoy the sweet potato waffle fries all on their own. I definitely recommend them. No dip necessary! While we waited for the fries to cook we walked around the store. Orchard Market has a great selection of produce and baked goods. The large fruit crumb cakes were staring at me, but I couldn’t find apple. They looked so good that I almost bought one of the two flavors I don’t really care for(peach and cherry). We finally walked out of there with a couple bakery items: my husband chose the sticky buns and I chose the cheese coffee cake to give to our neighbors.(I’ll try to get their feedback.) The lady at the register was very friendly.

My husband spotted this on our way to Manistee and saw a sign about pie so he insisted we make this our stop out of town for lunch. I was not expecting much so I was pleasantly surprised by our visit. The restaurant is diner-ish and none too big, plenty of people were there but we got a table at the back right away. The waitresses are old as the hills and while polite are not overly friendly but rather a bit like a slightly disapproving granny. I also had the urge to help them carry our food and pop which is a bit disconcerting, but they get around fine. I may just be a closet agist which is sad for me. I had a turkey reuben. It came on their house rye bread with plenty of sauerkraut, swiss and zippy thousand island. It came with free chips and a pickle. I really liked it but I am a huge turkey reuben fan at any rate. He had a pot roast cheddar haystack, which was pot roast topped with melted cheddar, fried onion strings, and house made bourbon sauce on a bakery fresh kaiser roll. He liked it quite a bit. He paid for onion rings to go with and they were decent. For once I picked a better dessert than my husband. I had a piece of one of the best lemon meringue pies I have ever eaten. Perfect tartness level, flaky crust and light and sweet meringue. Mmmm. My husband got very good banana cream but he was disappointed at the assembly. It had the custard layer with bananas on top then whipped cream. he said he wanted the bananas mixed in or at the bottom. I was clueless really as it tasted just fine to me. I took pity on him and let him finish my lemon though. The bill was cheap, the stop was quick. The market had nice fruit but I was annoyed they did not have cream pies for sale. Ehhh bad for me anyway. Worth a stop in even if just for a piece of pie.

They grow a portion of the produce and it is excellent an reasonably priced. The produce that they buy from other growers and wholsalers is a cut above the quality that you see in any of the local markets. The have a restaurant attached which server typical small restaurant/dafe food. The bakery has fresh goods, but it is very typical premix type stuff. Don’t buy it if you are expecting artisanl baked goods.
