My first purchase experience at Raymour and Flanigan was an incredibly good one. Perhaps the negative reviews came from working with the wrong salesperson or something, but my wife and I worked with Ward who was a pleasure to deal with. No high pressure tactics like a lot of sales people. He had our best interest in mind and went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure we were happy. When our furniture arrived, the delivery guys were true professionals and we were impressed with the care they took in making sure that the furniture and our house was not damaged. The furniture itself is beautiful and we are very happy with the overall experience.

R&F responded with an apology on Unilocal and an e-mail address that they asked me to respond to. As I thought, they ignored my response. Raymour and Flanigan was only posting that message in the hopes that someone would believe that they do care. But they don’t!

I attempted to purchase some furniture from Raymour and Flanigan two years ago, in cash, as I was moving to another state. They said they would be able to deliver the furniture to the other state; three weeks later(you know, when I’m sitting in an empty apartment expecting furniture to come any day), they called to tell me that they were unable to deliver after all, so I cancelled the order. Fast forward two years later. As I’m about to apply for a mortgage, I find that Raymour and Flanigan had opened a revolving credit account without my knowledge, and left it around for two years with a zero balance. Annoying and something I want to correct, but I’m not about to start closing accounts right before applying for a mortgage. This actually worked in my favor by increasing my credit limit /lowering my utilization. Then after leaving it around for two years, they suddenly closed the account one week before the mortgage application, causing my utilization to rise(mid-month — I pay everything off in full at the end of each month), and my credit score to drop at the worst possible time. I don’t think they’ve done quite enough damage that I feel inclined to sue them over it, but I certainly won’t shop here again.

We furnished a lot of our new furniture with the help of Beth. She is very helpful and recommends things we never considered. Any time they were having a sale, we stopped in and there was never any pressure on her end. Not too pushy either. Had some issues with minor scratching and they always came back to fix the issues. Definitely get the extended warranty if you have small children.

Big store, nice furniture. It will be hit or miss with the salespeople. You may get a stalker or you could get one that will leave you alone unless you have any questions. So goes the adventure of furniture shopping.
