Love this place for hotdogs and fries. DONOTGETTHE2tabkespoons of macNcheese for $ 4. It’s gross. Tasted like they kept it in the water and added a tiny speck of cheese. Again tastes gross. 3 stars for their hotdogs & fries!

This place gets the 2 stars for the hot dog and fries, but the burger, absolutely terrible. First of all I have never seen a burger that thin in my life. Save your money.

Still one of the best hot dogs around. Wish they would add a second senior day. Fries are overpriced but are not bad. Sodas are overpriced also. But if you want a good dog I guess you have to put up whit the pricing.

The food is okay but the place needs a facelift. It just seems old and dirty and woefully understaffed. I had much better experience at their other locations near the shore.

Great burgers and dogs. Nothing fancy or special just good food at a reasonable price.

Great Hot Dogs & Chili, Best French Fries If you’re looking for the best hot dogs and French fries this is the place. I had thought a French fry was a French fry until I tried these. Their hot dogs are the best anywhere. The chilli is 100% beef with no beans.

The first time I went here I just ordered the breaded mushrooms and the onion rings to share. The mushrooms were completely lacking in flavor. The onion rings were a little over done, but not bad. While we were there we saw the hot dogs cooking and they looked good. So we went back a second time to try them. Not good either. $ 4.39 for a hot dog is practically stadium pricing. And there was nothing special about them. The buns weren’t even soft. It was like the 75 cent pack of buns you pick up from the market. Also, I didn’t try the ice cream, but the lady that ordered ahead of me did. And she immediately asked for a refund and said it tasted like freezer burn.

First time at the windmill. And guess What? It will be the last. The hamburger was a crappy patty that you would get at a cookout that has been hanging at the back of the grill for hours. The bun was so old it crumbled. And the help I wouldn’t trust near my kids.

Not bad at all but not good either… first time — I had a hotdog. Very good but the bun was soggy(as most ppl mention in reviews). Also — paid a ton for just the dog! 2nd time– tried the boneless wings. Came with fries which were good and a lot. Very few wings. Not worth the buzz… give me a dry hot dog bun!

hot dog fell apart due to a soggy bun. we waited forever because the food did not all come out at once. the staff was rude and unorganized. the bathroom was dirty and we were most shocked because the Brick and Belmar windmills are great. Never come to freehold. And the soda was flat. the woman at the cash register also handled the money with the same hand she used to pick up our food

How is this place still in business? $ 4.19 for a hot dog is a bad joke

Food is quality and if comes in the price. Ignore the review about the lack of flavor. A good hot dog doesn’t overpower the senses like Sabret’s and Nathan’s do. Get it with fries and a drink for about $ 10.

This is my «Break In Case of Emergency» WindMill. Well, this one and the one in Red Bank that’s in a strip mall with less charm than this one. Regardless, if you need WindMill and don’t feel like driving to the authentic one in Long Branch or the other one in Belmar, then you’re stuck here. Cheese fries and hot dogs remain the same… but the charm at this one is like a scary circus. You know that saying nothing is scarier than a clown? Coney Island Joe and Asbury Park Tillie are way more charming than this place. But it’s stayed in business since 1990ish for a reason. When I’m in Freehold and can’t get to the other ones, this one will have to do. But be forewarned: this place would make a KILLING after hours especially on weekends. But they close at 9 pm. I guess part of the reason being in the burbs.

Can you say rip off? The«hot dogs» have absolutely no flavor what so ever. Thank god for the chili and cheese to make up for the lack of flavor. Who pays $ 2.00 to play the claw game? Really? My head was like a windmill because the outrageous prices and terrible food will have you spinning in circles when you leave.

4 stars for being one of a kind! We have nothing like this in NYC! They bill themselves as gourmet fast food! I agree! Windmill is a small chain on the Jersey shore and a new one is opening in Hoboken soon. There is a picture of me in front on July 4th, 2009. You can dress like Wonder Woman on the shore and you fit right in! Anyway Windmill is old world Americana charm and goodness. It makes you feel like you are going back in time to an America long gone. Some of the best hot dogs anywhere! Free relish, free sour kraut, free mustard, and as old school Brooklynites say if its free it’s for me! Fresh juicy char grilled burgers, French Fries Cheese Fries, Chili Cheese Fries, Onion Rings, Breaded Mushrooms Homemade Chili, Charbroiled Rib Eye Steak, on a Hoagie Roll w/, Sautéed Onions, Charbroiled Chicken Breast, on a Hard Roll w/Lettuce, Tomato & Your choice of BBQ Sauce or Hellmann’s Mayo, Crispy Chicken, w/Hellmann’s Mayo & Lettuce, Fried Filet of Flounder, on a Hoagie Roll w/Lettuce & Tomato, on a Hard Roll w/Lettuce &Tomato, White Meat Tuna Fish, on a Hard Roll w/Lettuce & Tomato, Boneless Chicken Wings w/fries, Fresh salads, fountain drinks, kids menus, plus chili cheese hot dogs, old time Americana food. This location is the most charming with a carousel inside for seating. But I like the food and have been to most of the locations. One great thing about having cancer was I could eat like an animal and not gain weight. I do not have cancer any more so I have to watch what I eat now. Bummer! I will still go to Windmill but I have to take it easy on the double orders of cheese fries!
