What a find for any fiber and knitting aficionado! Centrally located in Freeport, Maine, Casco Bay Fibers is a wealth of tools, materials and know-how for all your knitting needs. This store has a beautiful array of high-end, hand-selected fibers as well as specialty needles with which to knit them. In addition, you will find beading supplies, patterns and classes as well as an informal gathering of fellow knitters one Friday of each month. It’s a comfortable place to peruse patterns and ask questions or simply to work on your current project. Sit at the table or lounge on the couch. The parking is free. Though there is a variety of yarn available, the emphasis is upon quality, luxurious fibers; and the prices reflect such quality. The purveyor has been in business for only a few short years but has built upon an incredible wealth of knowledge to launch this successful business. She is always ready with a smile and willingness to share her experience and advice with her clients; but is never pushy about selling product. In addition, she pays careful attention to the preferences and budgets of her clients. Great store, great gal, great product. Once you shop there you, like myself and many others, may never go elsewhere.

What a find! A dear friend and I were on our way to a weekend knitting retreat in Camden, Maine and stopped by this store. It was spacious, well-lit and stocked with some truly yummy yarns like Malabrigo and Madeline Tosh, as well as local yarns such as Peaks Island and Swans Island. The selection of needles and accessories was very well organized and things were easy to find. I succumbed to some wonderful Road to China yarn. Yea ME! They also carry some fabric for quilting as well as beading supplies. Karen and her helper(sorry, I don’t remember her name) were extremely knowledgeable, friendly and nice. I wouldn’t hesitate for a second to stop in here again. My friend, who helped me write this review, states that the only reason she didn’t give the shop 5 stars is that she wishes that there were more knit swatches for the various yarns.
