Wife and I were in Freeport last weekend looking for some lunch. Came across this place. Definitely worth seeking out. Lobster stew was outstanding. Crab melt was loaded with tasty crab and done just right. Awesome homemade garlic bread complimented the stew perfectly. Highly recommend this place. I will definitely go back.

After a busy trip to L.L. Bean a few days after Christmas, my husband and I were quite hungry. After reading about Corsican in a Freeport tourist guide, we gave it a go. We were warmly welcomed when we entered and quickly seated. Our waiter was kind and open to answering questions. My husband ordered the clam chowder(naturally), along with grilled scallop; I had the grilled salmon. Overall, the food was good, as was the service. This is a good solid place to have lunch or dinner, but nothing that you’re going to rave about.

The staff here was amazing! My daughter is allergic to peanuts, tree nuts, and eggs. The chef and owner was the first to discuss this with us. By the time our food came out, 3 or 4 other employees came by just to double-check the allergies, ask a specific question, and reinforce their concern. This is a far cry from other locations who don’t even know what is in their food. The food was also obviously prepared fresh, and seemed to be locally sourced as much as possible. We would definitely go back again.

My family was there this past weekend. We were hungry and there was no wait. That should have been a warning sign but we went in anyway. Found the food fair. Thought for the money you would get French Fries not Chips with your sandwich. Also, didn’t think the waitress was very friendly. Wish we had the other waitress who actually walked around with a smile. I guess when your hungry anything will do but next time I will wait somewhere else for hours then going back there again.

A random lady handing out pamphlets on the side of the road was advertising that this place had the best food and chowder in town. We were cold, hungry and desperate for food and decided to give it a try. Ambiance: Hasn’t been updated since the 60s. The place smelled and everyone(10 other customers) looked depressed. It was like dining with a bunch of zombies. Staff: Our waitress had the personality of a T-Rex attempting pushups; frustrated, unfriendly and defeated. The food: nachos were okay. Cheese was not melted and it looked like Stevie Wonder made it as the cheese was clumped and caked on the top of the tortilla chips like one huge depressing glob. Buffalo chix sandwitch: didn’t have hardly any chicken and was served with a depressingly small side of ruffle chips. The pickle provided couldn’t even wipe my tears of sadness. Clam chowder: it was pretty decent but not the world’s best as they had claimed. Avocado crab meat salad: supposedly fresh crab meat that came scooped like a depressing display of hood icecream. Only a small mere peice of Avocado was provided when the title of this entry had the word Avocado in it. APPALLING. Wilted lettuce scattered about the dish that resembled seaweed. Don’t eat here if you have self worth and any dignity.

Went back to Corsican after they sent us a $ 50 check for our poor meal there. They also sent us a $ 50 coupon towards another meal there, so we tried it again. I got a diet coke and was not charged for refills this time. The squash apple soup was excellent with a great combination of apple and squash flavor. The clam chowder was full of potatoes and not our favorite. The turkey and avocado sandwich was very good and recommend. The pesto pasta had very fresh ingredients and the pasta was cooked perfectly, but the pesto sauce was too soupy and thin. It also lacked flavor somehow, but you could tell it was homemade. Service was great after a short wait. A big menu with something for everyone.

The Hungarian Mushroom Soup is the best I’ve ever had. If you are lucky enough to be there when it’s the soup of the day, try it, you won’t regret it.

This is an outstanding restaurant with good service and very clean. Quaint, small and delightful. We had the clam chowder and a side salid. The chowder is outstanding. We highly recommend you check this one out. We had the wild blueberry pie with ice cream for dessert. Delicious.

Great pesto pizza: star reviews by a traditional pizza consumer! Gluten free options were numerous including awesome garlic bread, lobster roll, and a housemade brownie. Enthused waiter and extremely pleasant setting. Highly recommend.

Had the BEST bowl of Haddock and Clam Chowder today at The Corsican Café and Chowder House. It was loaded with a huge amount of seafood in a wonderful tasting broth, and served piping hot. The 3 of us that ordered it all gave it 5 stars! Don’t bother getting a cup… go with the bowl because it’s that delicious. Our server, Tom, was great… friendly and quick with our service. Can’t wait to get back to Freeport for another bowl!

We stopped here on our way through to Canada. The weather was perfect so we opted for the outside patio.(Seating inside was limited) I had the avocado salad with the upgrade of lobster. The first impression was a beautiful plate, however I was wondering if I needed more! I was wrong– the greens were crisp and flavorful with enough vegetables to fill me up. The staff were all prompt and friendly. I would recommend here to those tired of the chain restaurants and average food!

What a lovely little place! As a gluten free customer I was tickled to find a very unique and complex menu that fits my pallet and health needs. From outstanding clam chowder to the best GF pizza I have had to date, this place delivered mouth watering bite after bite! Although it’s seating/décor is out dated, the food and friendly waitstaff proved to be memorizing. Check them out… you won’t be disappointed!

We Met Son and gf for lunch, had lobster roll and clam chowder. Lobster roll has ¼ lb of lobster meat, not from small lobsters. Our clam chowder was delicious and the clam and haddock chowder had large pieces of fish. The warm brownie sundae topped off the lunch perfectly. I have gone to this restaurant several times over past few years, often bringing guests and never have been disappointed yet. Definitely a favorite!

Great family run small restaurant. They seem to have a wide range of items on the menu so everyone in your party should find something that appeals to them. Located on a small one way street, it can be hard to find; we drove by it twice! Better signage is recommended ! It is in a old house and the downstairs dining is pretty cozy; unless the upstairs is much roomier, not sure I’d recommend to a large party. The service is pleasant & helpful. The food is very good & generous in portions.

My experience was decent at the Corsican. I will start off by saying the service was great! I had a burger, it was okay, but not something I would go back for. My family all had the chowder and lobster rolls. They said they were good. The décor was kind of outdated.

This is a cute little place, not much of a waiting area to say the least, so if its packed and there is a wait, you’ll be cramped in. The staff is super nice and the food was pretty damn good. I got a scallop dish and it was good, but the spanish rice with it was odd and didn’t go with it and the vegetables were bland. The fish chowder was some of the best I have ever had. The chunks of fish were unreal. I don’t have notes on the rest of the meal. Somehow after the first half of the bottle of wine, I stopped taking notes. Go figure. This place isn’t fancy, but its good, solid food and worth trying, esp since they have bottles of wine and you can take what you don’t finish with you.

The horrendous traffic coming to Freeport from Worchester resulted in two cars full of hungry and weary occupants. The three-hour trip to Freeport had been closer to 4.5, and before we could consider the Bean, food was on tap. An overtly friendly Info Keiosk employee named Susanne recommended the Corsican, based on the four«we’ve been cooped up in cars waayy too long» boys that were part of our party, and the fact that the Corsican had outdoor patio seating. Jackpot. A quick scan and approval of the menu landed our party in the patio area…4 boys aged 6 through 12 at one table– dead in the middle of the patio, offering equal disturbance to all other patrons– with our hopes that the 4 parents and the grandmother could dine with relatively few scalding glances… or, the hopes that nobody would realize that they were our kids. After a few other tables left… hopefully not due to our traveling circus… The waitress was excellent, not only providing quick and efficient service, but also humoring our table of mini-patrons. Food, upon arrival, was solid… three of us enjoyed the lobster melt(lots of meat!), and the accompanying cup of clam chowder was likewise good. Other orders of salmon sandwich and my sister’s something healthy sandwich were all consumed without argument. The meal was capped off with the shot-sized root-beer float freebies. Highlight of the meal was the laugh we had when our youngest son asked to have a container for the quarter-sized piece of PB&J sandwich he hadn’t eaten, and the waitress brought out a salad-dressing side container with a lid for him. He was so proud to have his own container! Food snobs, grumble as you will for 90% of your reviews. This establishment serves a square meal, and sports a friendly staff. Perfect place for some peace and quiet(unless we are there) in an otherwise chaotic, frenzied Freeport.

Love their blueberry pie! Not a fan of their cappuccino though. Rated them only three stars because all I had from there was their pie and their coffee. But the blueberry preserves I bought from them were pretty good as well.
