This place is next to the Hampton Inn downtown. Which is why I tried it. It’s probably fine for a beer or glass of wine. But don’t be fooled. The menu reads really well. But the food was always a disappointment. It’s poorly executed. This is the kind of place where you should stay away from the specials. Chances are it’s product that’s about to go bad — or the chef’s little experiment. Sometimes experiments work out, but in my experience … Not here. The service was either rough or non existent. There are better places to eat in this small town. Give them a try and skip this.

The sandwich combos are a great value and hardy and taste wonderful! The soup is tasty but too spicy for me so I asked for additional homemade chips! I was disappointed they wouldn’t substitute for a salad. We ordered appetizers as well since we weren’t very hungry but the chicken strip were generous. I ordered a strange Tempura fried meatloaf sandwich. Very tasty!

This is a hidden gem in Freeport, I’ve eaten here in 3 occasions and haven’t been disappointed. The first visit I had chicken strips and onion rings. The chicken was not frozen but a fresh chicken breast cut into strips with a wonderful batter and the onion rings are freshly cut not frozen and just the amount of batter and not greasy. 2nd visit, I had the salmon crostini appetizer, it’s delicious and a great value for the price of fresh perfectly cooked salmon. 3rd visit I had the Blackened salmon salad, the perfect size salad to make it a meal with the wonderfully seasoned blackened salmon, with homemade honey mustard dressing.

I actually didn’t sample any menu items. However the items listed were limited and rather pricey. The lipstick on my water glass was the deal breaker. We walked out.

I was annoyed before I even sat down because 2 ditzy girls were standing behind the bar giggling, while we stood by the«please wait to be seated» sign. I asked loudly if there was a hostess on duty and one of the dingbats said«he’ll be right with you.» Although there were many vacant tables, the host sat us beside a table with a crying baby. The menu was limited and overpriced. When the host/busboy returned with a waterglass bearing a lipstick print on the rim, I wasn’t about to stick around for unwashed plates. GROSS!

Great food in a town not known for anything very interesting. I has the pan seared scallops, excellent grilled veggies and potato cake. Hubby had pork chop with sage dressing and grilled veggies. All were cooked perfectly with excellent seasonings. The service was impeccable. very helpful and attentive… a very nice place for a Saturday dinner in Nw Illinois.

I’m in town very frequently for work, and this is my favorite place in the area. The food is always excellent here, the steaks are always excellently cooked, the stuffed chicken breast is absolutely delicious(although the rosemary stuffing can be a bit strong), and the brisket is a tender and delightful treat. It’s not the most amazing restaurant I’ve ever been to, but given the options a half hour in any direction this is definitely the best option in the region. My only complaint is that the service can be a bit slow at times. They also have live music in the lounge at times, usually doing covers in my experience, and it’s a nice change of pace.

We tried three appetizers. Chips and cheese, pretzels and dip, and bacon strips. Bacon was very unique and excellent. The others were pretty average Look, it’s fine for a hotel bar, but if I was a local, I wouldn’t visit. Bartender was providing minimal service and we both sat with empty beers for 10 – 15 minutes every time. Slow service sucks.
