I’m not a huge fan of this theater… primarily due to the entry way traffic flow and log jam at entry caused by each line allowing both ticket purchasing and food purchasing… it causes long waits and a cluster without there being a ton of traffic… easily fixed with some simple workflow management. The individual theaters are semi stadium seating with ample width of the seats and decent aisles… I do have the experience of having a movie malfunction occur in mid movie… and having it canceled, which is a first for me… Overall…3 stars… we go to this theater often… as you can get a nice Freeport restaurant experience before the movie… and have easy parking to walk over into the theater…

I purchased a half price coupon good for 2 tickets and 2 small popcorns for the Nordica Theater. I live just outside of Portland where I have access to several, closer theaters to choose from but I really wanted to try Nordica. I assume that’s why they were offering such a good deal because they wanted people to make the trip to Freeport. I checked the tickets to make sure they were valid since it was a Sun-Thurs deal… it was Tues so we were all set. When I tried to use them the very nice kid said they weren’t valid because the movie was an advanced premier screening for a new film. I asked to speak with the manager who was standing right there and she repeated what he had said. I told her that nowhere on the mobile website did it mention that this movie was an advanced premier screening. She said it’s on the discount tickets, which I saw, but didn’t know that the MOVIE we selected was a premier screening. Am I supposed to know which movies are and which aren’t? They should specifically say so on their website. I said it was disingenuous because nowhere on their mobile website did it mention this. She kept repeating that she couldn’t take them and she couldn’t do anything about it… really…you’re the manager! I was so frustrated, I wanted to leave but we bought the tickets anyway since we were already there. I will not return to this theater.

It’s not the closest theater to me but I prefer it over the closer one. It’s clean and comfortable. It’s located right in the center of shopping so if you get rained out you don’t have to go far. Very easily accessible and average price. The only down side is they have twizzlers over the superior red vines.

Best theater in the Mid Coast area! Stadium seating, you will not find this at the Brunswick cinema! Who buys popcorn at the movies? EVERYONE knows movie concessions are WAY over priced! Who cares about the teeny-bopper staff, ALL theaters have that! First run movies, comfortable seats, count me in!!!

Nice to have a theater in Freeport, but in all the times I’ve been to Nordica(since the only other theater in the area closed a few years back), I’ve never had a pleasant experience there. It’s overpriced(I understand that movie food is usually overpriced, but $ 3.50 for a 12 ounce bottle of water is over the top), the management is unfriendly and unpleasant and they don’t really seem to want to do much to become an integral member of the community. Not an asset that I am proud to claim. I go in to Portland, Westbrook or Brunswick as much as I can, rather than my own neighborhood. Sad. Update — I’m upgrading my review to three stars from two because I think they have mellowed with age. The last few times I was there, the staff was much more friendly and relaxed. They are offering more choices and seem to be more integrated into the community. Prices are still high, but in line with the outrageous prices of all theaters these days, and their frequent online discounts help soften the bite. I don’t feel like I have to hold my nose to go there now :)

Right in nice shopping area with LLBEAN outlet next door. Can’t figure out why the builders did not consider covered walkway to theatre and stores. Lots of ups and downs but there is an elevator. Plenty of parking. Theatre is kind of stark and plain with nice rocking chairs. Did not keep theatre dark enough during movie. I don’t like having to watch ads but no lengthy previews was nice change.
