Recommended by our B&B hosts. This is a friendly place, right near the train depot and a 2 minute walk to the shops. The mac and cheese special with chicken sausage and mushrooms was fabulous and the people next to us had great looking sandwiches. Sammi, our waitress, could not have been more accommodating. She was great and made our experience a truly fun one to remember. It is a little cramped but we made«friends» with the folks on either side of us. Awesome experience topped off by great food.

So you’re in Freeport for business, leisure or whatever. Hungry and/or thirsty? Forget about the tourist trap places that are everywhere on the coast. Get off the main drag and literally 2 blocks form LL Bean you’ll find Petrillo’s. It’s a perfect cross between a neighborhood Italian joint and a fine dining establishment. We’ve made it a regular stop for a couple of years now and it’s become one of our favorites. Everything on the menu is consistently excellent; the service is ALWAYS spot on. Ask for Sam(who I think is usually behind the bar) and believe me, she will take wonderful care of you!

Food is pretty good but the service not so much. Very very slow and they get the orders wrong. This doesn’t go for all the waiters of course but from what we experienced!

Good food overall, but the portions were small and the meals were overpriced. The burger I got was delicious and the Italian spin on it with cured ham and special cheese made it great, but just chips on the side? For $ 13 I’d expect either a huge 1 pound burger with no sides, or a normal burger with fries and cole slaw. Overall a mediocre atmosphere but everyone was very nice and the beer selection was good.

This is a cute place to grab a bite while shopping. We weren’t too hungry so we got the bruschetta, 4 meatballs and the antipasto salad. The meatballs were so good and so big. the sauce that came with it was delicious. The bruschetta was also good. The antipasto salad was just a regular salad with pepperoni on it, it wasn’t what i get at Italian restaurants when I order this salad. Service was good and I saw that they have great happy hour specials even though we were there for lunch. I definitely recommend the meatballs!

Great! Friendly, quaint, delicious. Lasagna was on point. Perfect gravy and lasagna like my nana. Mussels app was huge and spicy shrimp was great. As a 3rd gen Italian, recommended!

Enjoyed my visit here. Ate«outside» but it’s enclosed, and it was a pleasant evening. It does seem a little cramped inside. I started with the chef salad, which was good and a decent size for a side salad. I then tried two pizzas. The Dom has meatballs and big hunks of fresh mozzarella. It was absolutely delicious! The other pizza had BBQ, pineapple and jalapeños. It was tasty, but way too spicy for me. The pizza was large enough that it would be enough or more than enough for one person’s meal. Overall, it was a good meal and service was pretty good.

Well… we came around 2:00pm for lunch we had to wait a while to be seated and noticed there are only 2 servers for the busy restaurant. Food was good but the wait was long. They should have gotten more people to work on a busy Sunday. Many people came shopping at Freeport. Server was apologetic about the wait.

Petrilo’s is a friendly and cozy local spot in Freeport with solid comfort style food. Also, they have an ok beer and wine selection. A much better draw would be to have all beer taps with great local micro brews(like Foundation, Oxbow, Rising Tide, Banded Horn, Bunker, Baxter) and a slightly larger wine selection as the the«by glass» wines are very mediocre. Food is good quality, presented well and fair for the price. Adding a couple healthier options and local fish would be nice additions. Worth visiting!

I love Petrillos! I love Petrillos! I love Petrillos! The homemade meatballs are incredible. The pizza is killer and the atmosphere is great. It feels love or you are off the beaten path, yet you are still in the mix. Try the house made limoncello, strong and delicious. Give yourself sometime, this isn’t a fast dining experience. Relax and enjoy. This place will not disappoint.

Took my son here for dinner in a Friday night. Last time I ate at Petrillo’s was years ago, and I remember it being pricey but good. This night it was crowded and there was a half-hour wait. We were told we could sit at an odd little corner high-top table, but in a few minutes a couple of seats opened at the bar and we sat there. Our waitress was friendly, and although the bar was somewhat noisy, there was a real community of regulars and many patrons just wanting to hang out and chat. We ordered our drinks(unfortunately I forgot to order the Limoncello!). My son is just barely 21 and yet he wasn’t carded, and I noticed a very young(5ish?) child at the bar. Not sure that’s kosher. Anyway, it was past happy hour and the wine and Angry Orchard we ordered were very expensive. We each ordered a pizza, and were going to split the meatball appetizer. It took over an hour for the app to arrive. I realize it was busy, but there seemed to only be one cook in the kitchen turning out all the orders. Our pizzas took about 20 more minutes to arrive after the appetizer. I had the butternut squash, goat cheese pizza(it was good, but the squash was big square chunks, which made it awkward to eat), and my son had the pulled pork, pineapple and jalapeño pizza. His was much better. The meatball was good, but we wolfed it almost without tasting since it was so late when it finally arrived. Overall a good experience. I would have given another star if the wait weren’t so long.

Ate a quick lunch. Three dishes and an appetizer all well prepared. Excellent service. Easy location with plenty of parking.

I went here with my mom for lunch and it was pretty decent. Parking is no problem, especially with the parking garage across the street. The waitress was very nice and our meal was a good portion for the price. We did go for a late lunch, so we didn’t have to wait to be seated. I would like to go back and try their pizza.

I visited Petrillo’s March 24,2014, I was starving so my fiancé and myself ordered their garlic bread appetizer and their Lobster Alfredo dish. The reason this wasn’t a perfect visit is because I couldn’t taste the garlic in my garlic bread however the homemade dipping sauce was incredible. I shared the Lobster Alfredo with my fiancé, it looked amazing but the Lobster was cold and I couldn’t taste the Alfredo. Everything is homemade and flavorful but not on point.

I’ve never had a bad meal at Petrillo’s, but the standout(in my opinion) is definitely the house-made Limoncello. Mm-mm-mmmmm! Though space is very limited, the atmosphere is never overbearing due to this minor setback. The wait staff is absolutely wonderful, and so very accommodating, and always willing to offer their suggestions when you’re not *quite* sure what to get. My waitress even sent me home with a to-go cup of hot water because she overheard me say that my door lock was frozen shut. Most people would have probably looked at me like I was nuts or just ignored my plight. Also: The meatballs? Ah-may-zing. Highly recommended!

Sunday’s northeaster knocked out our power, or at least contributed to the idiot that took out the utility pole that caused us to lose our power right around lunch time on Sunday. I’ve walked by Petrillo’s many times and have contemplated stopping. Sunday was a good excuse to drop in for a late brunch/lunch and sit at the bar. With the wind whipping outside, the recently-covered patio area was a bit too breezy and we were freezing, hence the bar seating. Actually, I like eating at the bar, so it’s all good. My wife captured my sentiments exactly when she said after we left, «the food was much better than I expected it to be.» That it was! I went with their Lasagna Bolognese, based on one of my favorite Italian-style sauces. Petrillo’s version is rich Ricotta cheese, and flecked generously with their house-made chicken sausage, a perfect blend of spices and flavorings, and the portion is a hearty one. I added their simple house salad, made with locally-sourced greens, tomatoes, croutons, onions, and a nice balsamic vinaigrette on the side. My wife’s steak and cheese made me envious. I had a bite and thought, «I’d have been very happy with this.» It’s more of a pressed sandwich version than the traditional steak and cheese sub common to Maine restaurants. This was an excellent version. We both opted to go with the tomato bisque(mine) and the clam chowder(my better half). We agreed that both were excellent. The only quibble was the draftiness, which wouldn’t be a problem during the warmer months. Also, the service was a bit on the slow side, although it wasn’t an issue for us, as we weren’t in a rush. I’m thinking I’ll be checking them out again, perhaps for a Friday happy hour drink and appetizer visit.

My fiancé remarked that it was a forgettable meal. It was good, don’t get me wrong, but not a place to savor your bites. When we arrived it was bustling with tourists. We had the choice of the bar or 30 minute wait. We took the bar since we were not up for waiting around. The app of spinach artichoke dip was out in about 20 minutes and was the highlight of the meal experience. The meal came out soon after our last bite of dip. When the meal was finished is when the issue started with service. We wanted to head out and it was 20 minutes of waiting for the waitress to give us our bill. I mean we could have been loud, but that’s not our thing. She was very nice, moved fast, but seemed to lose track of us sitting at the end with empty plates and glasses. Bummer.

My wife had margarita pizza, and was underwhelmed. Perhaps we are pizza snobs having lived for 3 years in Italy. Not a bad pizza but certainly not«authentic Italian Pizza.» I had the Lobster Alfredo and it was OK. The white sauce was a bit watery. Pasta was cooked nicely.
