There are not enough words to describe the respect and admiration I have for Dr. Andersen and his staff.
My 76 year-​old dad needed to have cataract surgery on both eyes. Though we were referred to another doctor, I chose Dr. Andersen based on my research.
Firstly, his staff is, by far, the friendliest, most professional, kind and caring staff we have ever dealt with and we deal with the medical community a lot these days. Most of them have worked for Dr. Andersen for a long time. Their commitment to and love for him shows in both actions and words. The way they treat patients is a reflection of both opthamologists (the other being Dr. Low) in this office.
Secondly, Dr. Andersen is not only professional, but he, too, is kind and compassionate. He explained everything thing about the surgery in great detail. He never made us feel rushed and answered all of our questions. The day of both surgeries, Dr. went over everything so my dad and I felt comfortable in what was going to take place during surgery.
We appreciated that Dr. Andersen was honest explaining both the pros of the surgery and the potential problems. He was always honest and direct.
Dr. Andersen did a GREAT job on both eyes.
But here is the clencher…
We paid for to have the more expensive procedure done on both eyes. Dr. Andersen’s office contacted us and told us that Dr. had looked over my dad’s «numbers» and decided there was no need to do the expensive procedure in one of his eyes. We were told (and, in fact, received) a refund of over $ 700. I was absolutely FLOORED! Dr. Andersen had no reason to do this. We CHOSE to have a more expensive procedure and Dr. Andersen could have gone forward with a needless surgery. No one but him would have known the better. When we thanked Dr. Andersen, he was very modest and simply said, «I strive to be as honest as possible.»
As a side note… the staff at Washington Outpatients RAVED about Dr. Andersen. I have had doctors who are despised by hospital staff and are very verbal about it. It was obvious that every single person who worked with Dr. Andersen had nothing but admiration and respect for him.
Our own family physician, when he found out that we went to Dr. Andersen, had nothing but praise.
That’s the kind of doctor he is.

Had a little eye issue and was fortunate enough to be seen the same day! The staff here are super friendly and Dr. Andersen is very professional and takes his time with you. My folks plan to go to him for their cataract surgeries and its reassuring to know they will be in capable hands.
Overall I had an excellent experience here and I highly recommend him as an Opthalmologist.
