Side note — I don’t get why each different class location has its own entry: It’s the same Bhangra Empire just teaching at different cities! Check their website out for all the locations they offer. The classes are the same at each location. Couple pieces of information about me: I prefer the bhangra style that is more jumping around than the style that’s more flowery(like Dholrhythms teaches) AND I’m a very slow learner when it comes to dance. I will eventually get it, but after days, not minutes. For these reasons, Bhangra Empire’s classes are great for me — the beginner classes start way at the beginning, break down the steps over and over, and focus on one routine per class(eventually, at the end of the 6 week session you string them all together). And, you get access to a video of the song to watch between classes so you can PRACTICE and show up each week ready to learn the next sequence. I think this method is awesome to get folks up and running and confident about learning. If you’re a dance whiz, you may be able to beg them and go straight to intermediate, but why? I grew up taking dance classes and my best teachers would say nothing is too basic — you can always work on improving your technique. That’s what I love about the classes — you get a solid foundation in the steps and armwork, so you’re really able to practice your dancing over just flailing around like a Zumba class at the Y. There’s lots of feedback in class on how you’re doing(as with most teaching you hear more detail about what you could improve than what you’re doing great, but not in a harsh way). The teachers can break down the steps, and are casual and personable. No divas here, just hard work drilling the sequences. Classes for the tiny kids all the way up to codgers like me. And you know there’s a recital to invite your friends to! Mine better show up and bring me cake. One caveat — stretching is a big part of preventing injuries(among other benefits) and these classes do not stretch before or after. If you’re new to dancing, I suggest picking up some tips on dance stretching(including the arms and shoulders) so you don’t set yourself up to miss classes while you recover from a pulled something!

Teachers are awesome! Environment is fun. A great school to learn bhangra. Very well organized and emails teacher videos at the end of each class to practice at home. 6 yr old have been there for 2 sessions already and loves it. Feel so lucky to have them close to where I live. :)

My daughter has been attending classes with Bhangra Empire for the past two years. The teachers are professional and always prepared. They took time in building a relationship with my daughter. They support and inspire her to dance. I can’t say enough about the team. My daughter not only has gotten over her shyness, put also started to excel in her other activities. It because the team helped build her confidence. Now my 6 year old is starting classes with Bhangra Empire. I know she will also have a great time learning Bhangra.
