Quite a pleasant surprise. Very fresh food and good flavors. I’m always on the lookout for good, affordable fish places, and this fits the bill. Extremely(but not overly) friendly staff helps navigate the slightly confusing menu(lots of options). Not nearly as busy as it should be during dinner time(though we eat early so maybe it picks up) so go give them some business! Lunch time is fairly busy but not too crazy. I’ve eaten here 3 times. Specific notes below: Char shrimp was really tasty, good grilled flavor, but a little spicy for my wimpy spouse. The moroccan rice is more interesting than the standard rice, but neither are amazing(unlike the basmati at Dish n Dash). The quinoa is really yummy but benefits from a little dressing. The black bean and corn side was really boring to me. The fries are generally quite good, both seasoned and regular. Grilled Zucchini was underdone, zucchini fries(secret menu item) were tolerable but not amazeballs. The bonehead shrimp(breaded with a sauce) are quite delicious. Note that they come with rice AND a side, so I’ll be upping my rice to a different side next time I order it, and there will be a next time. Grilled Ahi sandwich was delicious, with a yummy roll, good dressing(a small amount), and tasty fish, though my cut was very narrow and tall, making for an awkward sandwich. I ordered medium rare(just past seared) and I could see it getting dry if cooked all the way. The«karma bowl» should be called«the awesome salad». I thought it would be a bunch of really tasty veg, and I was right, but I didn’t realize it would be on a huge bed of spinach and mixed greens. Don’t order a protein a la carte along with it unless you have deep pockets and a huge stomach, or someone to share with. Kids grilled chicken was really boring. Kids crispy shrimp were the MVP. AFAICT they’re the bonehead shrimp minus the sauce.

Boneheads was a surprise find for me. I was here on a Sunday for a nice little walk in the newly laid out The Block at the Pacific Commons. The Block as a whole looks cute. After Unilocaling for a place for lunch, I chose Boneheads. I walk in to this place around 12 noon and could see a couple of tables occupied. The interior is spacious and well lit. You order the food at the register and get it served at your table. There were so many things to choose from the menu. You can choose your entrée with a choice of protein, rice and a choice or 2 of sides. With the recommendation of the sweet lady at the register, I finally picked grilled mahi mahi with grilled corn and pineapple salsa and the yellow colored Bonehead rice($ 10.99). Also, with a Unilocal check-in you get a free appetizer that you can choose from the menu except for the Crab cakes. I got the Boneheads shrimp . Coming to the food, it was great. I really liked it considering it was healthy too. The rice had a unique flavor and it went really well with the fish. The fish and the corn was grilled to perfection. The shrimp dish was also good. The shrimp was sauteed with a special Boneheads sauce and tasted delicious. Both spicy and flavorful. I liked both the dishes I ordered. The portions are also huge and even though I was very hungry, I felt that food portion was good enough. I also want to try their famous Piri Piri chicken next time. There was an issue with my check, since the lady at the register also added my free dish. But I got that corrected and the Manager came up to my table personally and apologized and spoke about my dishes and asked if I liked them. I saw that he did the same going to the other tables as well. Great customer service. Definitely recommend this place!

I chose this place for a work lunch for 20 people. I called in about a week in advance to make a reservation and to check if they’d have the capacity for us. They said it was no problem, and we arrived the day of our event. Alas, they are not a sit-down restaurant and weren’t able to accommodate us very well. We ended up writing down all our orders and giving it to the cashier/server/buslady, then were told that a bunch of things were unavailable. Then many of us had to fix our orders and replace them. The menu is complicated and not well laid out — i think there are too many choices in general and it wasn’t clear what entrees came with what sides/sauces. The shenanigans with ordering would have been ok, if the food could have come out appropriately… but I guess they were trying to serve our entire party at the same time(impossible) so they delayed our orders and served other customers first. It’s not cool when you know you arrived and ordered an hour ago but you see new parties of 4 ordering and getting their food before you. Apparently the kitchen was understaffed that day. I don’t know why, because I had called in to confirm our large party the day before too! Bad management. Overall we were here for 2.5 hours, with a handful of us taking our food to-go directly. We got a bunch of 15% off coupons but they’re useless because I’m pretty sure none of us will be coming back. If we had been comp’d some appetizers that might have softened the blow and given us a better impression. But too late now! I almost forgot to talk about taste. I was one of the last people to get my mahi salad(which was supposed to be a seared ahi tuna salad, but they were out). Fish was cold, leaves were limp. It didn’t make up for the 2 hour wait, at all.

This place is a really good option for people on a diet. There is a variety of grilled meat and vegetables to choose from. I had grilled tilapia. If you are tooooo hungry I would recommend having two sides because i felt the portions were small. I got a free appetizer for checking in. The boneheads shrimp was delicious. I will come back here again.

I highly recommend this place for anyone on a diet or trying to stay strong with their New Year’s resolution of «being more healthy»! My plan was to go to Ulta and eat at Little Madfish with my bf since we are on that healthy kick. We thought about and it didn’t make sense for us to eat sushi. If you’re wondering why? The carbs in the white rice were just too much, the salmon bento would just be a waste of money for us(since we can only eat 25% of it), and well, I just can’t do raw like that. SO. We Unilocaled and found this place and so glad we did! It’s way closer to Ulta so we could just walk between the two. I had the ahi tuna, with the Moroccan rice I think?(The one more similar to Mexican rice), and grilled sweet potatoes. Yes, I’m allowed to have both the rice and sweet potatoes because the potatoes count as a vegetable, not carbs. But anyway, the food was amazing. I never really had ahi tuna before so I asked for it well done, I wish I didn’t because it come out a bit dry, which was my fault not theirs. I didn’t know most people leave a little bit of pink on it. The sauces it came with made up for it. I didn’t touch the tartar sauce for obvious reasons but the Polynesian one was really good. The rice was tasty too but the BEST part was the sweet potato. The chard and the grill taste, was, *drooling*. My boyfriend got the chicken plate with similar sides as me and since he’s a tad bit more health conscious he wondered what the sodium level was on their famous pri pri sauce but since our server wasn’t sure, she gave us the whole bottle which was super nice of her. We got to see the sodium level and ingredients which was not that bad. The chicken that he got was really good too and that means something because he usually never orders chicken since he’s so tired of eating it for so many years. There are definitely more healthier options like broccoli for a side. I would love to come back here again and try their salmon. It’s what I originally wanted to order but they were out that day, which is fine, because it must mean that it’s that good.

Came in here after the a good gym workout hungry as hell. First time in ordered ahi tuna and the manager says he’s got a secret menu. Turns out they can do ahi poke and only the mangers are trained to do it. I was skeptical for sure but it was sooooo damn good and I got some great protein. Can’t beat the price and I was surprised at the great quality. I found a great spot in Fremont. Hats off to the manager Peter for a great dish. Come here ask about the secret menu and try something you’ll be happy.

Really not sure how this place has all these positive reviews. Maybe it was an off day, but man was it ever an off day. Came on a Monday right around prime time lunch time. There were a few people there. But it was still pretty empty. By the time we wrapped up. We were the only ones left. With as much businesses around, it is kind of telling that there are hardly any patrons here.(But the reviews looked promising) :( Chicken wing appetizers: absolutely nothing to write home about, other than how they were overpriced. Polynesian beef sticks. Basically skewers with a sweet sauce. It would have been fine, but all three pieces a were over cooked. How over cooked? To the point it was almost hard to chew. I picked the sweet potatoes and seasoned rice. The rice was super land and the sweet potatoes looked great, but we’re super hard. Friend had chicken skewers. He said it was just meh. Other friend had a burger, the cheese and bacon one. He said the burger was good. On the plus side, it has the fancy Coke machine where you can get peach Fanta :).

The atmosphere is super friendly. The people in the front are helpful with the menu for those who need it and are really nice. I ordered the steak skewers, with the bonehead rice and corn. It was really good. I also got the glazed pineapple with ice cream. Omg delish!

They were all out of salmon next door so we decided to give Bonehead a try. Kind of discerning to walk in on a empty establishment. It was towards the end of lunch so maybe that is why? I ordered the rainbow trout plate with Spanish rice and caesar salad. The fish was alittle overdone but flavorful. Rice was good and salad was decent. Daughter ordered the fish and chips. That was good. Crispy and moist. Fries couldve been better. I like mine skinner and crispier. $ 30 for 2 plates of food which includes a 15% tip. Probably wont be back unless I have a craving for some fish and chips.

That lemon-onion-chillies spiced sauce on smoky grilled chicken(is it also fried?), and while it’s a tad high for a lunch, it’s worth splurging for this particular flaming hot taste. Quite meaty morsels of meat, too. Now, if there are any«boneheads» actually here, it’s one or two employees. I apologized for making a spill. They said don’t worry about it. But god darn it, ten minutes later, nobody had mopped up the spill. On an up note, I guess you can make a mess here and nobody will care. I really liked the yellow rice on the side. Come to think of it, I made a mess with it, too. #goodtimes

My wife and I stopped in here recently to try Boneheads for the first time. They are located in Pacific Commons, which has seen a few new restaurants open recently, to our delight. After checking-out the menu, my wife ordered the Ahi Tuna Salad and I ordered the Grilled Chicken with rice and Grilled Zucchini. We received a free appetizer with my Unilocal check-in(bonus) and ordered the Boneheads Shrimp. Our food was delicious. Portions were good sized, service was good, staff were friendly and you could add spicy sauce(I did) if you prefer. It was crowded, since we were there on a Saturday night. It’s just nice to see these new restaurants doing well. We’ll be back.

The place was really empty for a Sunday night dinner, which was surprising considering how good the food was. I got the shrimp plate with Moroccan rice and fries. Even though the shrimp was small, there was a generous portion and it was nicely coated and full of flavor. The Moroccan rice was quite good, as it was a little bit sweet which balanced with the spiciness of the shrimp and sauces. The fries were pretty standard stuff. The service was pretty fast and friendly, definitely a place worth checking out.

Despite the pixilated pics of the menu on its window, Boneheads has some really high quality food. I got the fish and chips while my friend got the shrimp specialty. Both dishes had tons of flavor, especially with the hot sauces they have. In addition, the sides were very good. We shared the grilled zucchini and bean with corns. Definitely something different worth trying.

My BF and I came in a Friday night. Surprisingly not busy but given that there are so many new food spots in the area, it’s understandable. There was so many things on the menu it’s bizarre trying to figure out what to eat. Each entrée come with a choice if rice, a choice if sides, and choice of protein. Luckily for us there was nobody behind us so I didn’t feel rushed. Our cashier Lauren was so helpful! She recommended some things for us. I started laughing when she gave us an extensive option and she totally understand. Finally after 5 minutes I decided on ahi tuna entrée with Moroccan rice(sweet, cranberry and almond), fries and piri mushroom(delicious mushroom with garlic). Bf got recommended the half chicken, yellow rice and zucchini. I really liked my bf’s dish cuz they were pretty healthy and the chicken was falling apart tenderness. Rice was a little plain but that’s ok. They have like a million sauces to try! I think I liked the mild sauce, has a strong lemon taste to it too. I felt that my tuna was a lil too pricey cuz the size was pretty small($ 14). But the fries were good and I loved the mushroom. Overall, I would come back to try something else like the catfish. They have huge portions so I think the entrée was well worth it. The overall taste of this place uses a lot of lemon so be aware it gets pretty tangy. Although I think it pairs well with fish flavors.

I stopped in a few months ago when they first opened with a coupon I had received in the mail for a discount on their grilled chicken. Let’s just say I’m glad I held off on my review until I gave them another chance. This time I chose the half chicken with lemon herb seasoning. Bonehead rice and grilled sweet potatoes were the sides.($ 12.99 + $ 1.00 extra as the potatoes were a premium side), and a raspberry Coke from the Freestyle machine($ 2.19). Around a twenty minute wait for the order to be delivered to the table. A large screen TV hanging in the back scrolls through world news headlines, local weather and Bonehead promos. Adult alternative music plays loudly in the background. Three different types of seating are available; standard tables and chairs, elevated tables and chairs and a counter in the front, facing the window. The chicken was juicy on the inside, and I left no meat on the bones — it was so good! The rice was delicious, and the grilled sweet potatoes I’ll take over fries any day. My dining companion had the shrimp($ 10.99) with the same sides, and they were excellent also. We were checked up on by the staff twice to make sure everything was right. No complaints here! Definitely will return.

This is a new restaurant in the Pacific Commons shopping center. My boyfriend and I came here b/c we noticed it and love to try new places. We thought it was more of a diner from Unilocal but when we came in we noticed it was more of a healthy, Asian-Mediterranean type mix of place. The menu included burgers, chicken, appetizers, seafood and lots of fish. We used the Unilocal app to get free crab cakes and calamari. I ordered the salmon with quinoa. The food is on the pricey side here. I received my appetizer pretty fast. The crab cakes were overlooked and didn’t taste like anything special. I’ve tasted better from Safeway. But I wasn’t going to complain since it was free. I wouldn’t pay for it though. The salmon was cooked well and the Polynesian sauce it came with was really good. The quinoa salad was really good too. Maybe just too much dressing though. It was like $ 13 for the dish alone. Overall, this place has pretty good food but it is pricey. It’s not something I’d pay this much for when it’s fairly simple dishes that I can make myself at home.

We came to try out Boneheads over the weekend. Parking was easy and there was no line to order food. We were able to walk straight to the register. Since it was our first visit, we needed a little time to study their menu. I asked the worker some questions. She tried to answer but the music was so loud we had a hard time communicating. We finally decided on our proteins and the sides, and then found ourselves a table. The interior was modern and clean. It felt spacious. We couldn’t help but notice that giant fan hanging from the ceiling. It sure came in handy on the hot day we were here. Our food didn’t take long to arrive. The appetizer, wings in Piri Piri Sauce, wasn’t particularly memorable. Be mindful of the sauce you pick though, the medium level was hot enough for me. Then again, I might have a lower tolerance for spicy food. The Char-Grilled Shrimp Skewers with Moroccan Rice, Mushrooms and Zucchini was quite tasty. The shrimp were small in size but they gave you quite a few. The zucchini was also grilled nicely. The Moroccan Rice got a hint of sweetness from the cranberries. The almonds added texture. I liked this better than the seasoned rice that the worker had let me try earlier. Unfortunately, the Grilled Chicken wasn’t seasoned at all, or at least it didn’t taste like it was. The meat was overcooked and came out very dry. I don’t consider chewing food laboriously a fun thing to do. The fries were ok. This plate was anything but inspiring. Overall, I do think Boneheads has potential. I believe in second chances and will give it another go and try their other items. But that parched chicken seriously needs improvement.

I’ve been waiting for this place to open up for quite some time, so I was excited when my friend called to tell me that it finally was! My friend and split items, so we would be able to try a variety of things there. She got the fish and chips. It was just ok. I liked the breading, but some pieces were so much breading and barely any fish. The seasoned fries that came with the entrée were real potato-y and lacked crisp. Wasn’t my fave. I ordered the fish tacos with Asian noodles as my side. I also chose the pineapple salsa as my fish topping. So gooooood! It was a tad greasy, but I was able to help that by soaking up some onto my napkin. The fish was delicious, the pineapple salsa was refreshing, and the flour tortilla was perfect. I look forward to going back to order that again! Their sauces are also really good! I recommend the lemon herb and the medium. The hot was pretty darn hot. After that, I chose to stay away from the xxx hot. I poured the medium over my taco… bomb! Can’t wait to go back!

Fist time trying this spot since it opened in Fremont, opinion, only OK. We ordered the fish tacos(with a side of cold Asian noodles) and fish and chips. The fish tacos had some really amazing flavor, especially with the house hot sauce and pineapple salsa added on, but they were CRAZY greasy! I mead, I picked up my taco and the whole back side of the tortilla was red and wet with grease. Next time I order, I will ask for them to cut back on the oil. Fish and chips were nothing special. The fish portions were very thin and small, mostly bread(not like usual fish and chips) and the fries, however flavorful, were not crispy like I wanted. The special house sauces are all really good though which is a definite plus in my book. They also have one of those new cool soda machines which are always fun to mess around with. Service was attentive and prompt. You order at the counter, they give you a number and you stick it on your table, then wait for them to bring you your food. They also bust your table as well.
