I can’t believe I’ve lived in the area for years and haven’t been to this theater, for whatever reason. I went here for an arangaetram (public performance of the classical Indian dance Bharatanatyam) and I was pretty impressed with the size of the seating, seating and the outdoor feel! I will definitely be returning for some plays and shows that might happen here.

The Jackson theater is located inside the Smith Center at Ohlone College. I’ve worked lighting for a show here and I absolutely love it. It was for Academy of Chinese Performing Arts’ annual firecracker show in June of ’11. The tech is operated by a cool dude named Jasper. They have a full lineset, nice JBL audio system, house ETC lighting. We’ve brought in some intelligent lighting and color scrollers that fit nicely on their lighting and electrical linesets. Jasper was able to help with all electrical wiring to ensure proper voltage and amperage per circuit for our rented equipment.
