Genuinely nice and honest people. We had purchased an engagement ring from another Indian jeweler in the Fremont area and they had completely ripped us off. The husband and wife here at Gold Palace Jewelers are honest people and gave us a great price on the gold kara we recently purchased. My parents and grandma have been going to them for all their Indian jewelry needs since they had their location in Berkeley in the 90’s.

I bought 2 watches from them. One datejust and one sub over 2 years. I went in recently to ask for someone who could adjust my sub band and the lady almost screamed at me. «no we don’t do that» I said«wait a minute before you scream at me like an angry bitch, I bought this watch from you and you ought to show some respect» she then said the guy who did that wasn’t there. I think that their customer service sucks not because they’re mean but that’s just how they deal with people in India. This, however is America and they should think twice before just saying no. I, for one, will never buy anything from them again.

I had a strange experience at this store a couple years ago. I wanted to ask if they can replace watch batteries – since the front of their store is lavishly decorated with watch posters, I figured it was a reasonable question. First, however, they had to buzz me in, which took a little time. When I stepped inside, the women behind the counter stared at me as if I were a martian, while some man trotted mysteriously off to the back without acknowledging me. When I asked about the batteries, the saleswomen appeared amazed, and replied«no» as if I had insulted them with the question. The entire experience was uncomfortable – I was made to feel extremely unwelcome. Perhaps the shop is too high-end to bother with things like watch batteries, since they supposedly sell Rolexes, but that’s no reason to be so unfriendly. I got an odd impression of the store – as if it’s a front for another type of business, or run by people who only cater to certain groups. But the location is very odd for a place so snooty – the grungy foot of University Ave., in a rather tired building. And they didn’t have much merchandise on display when I was in there. Maybe if I knew more about watches I would find something good about the shop, but as it is, I don’t see the appeal.

We went in here to buy a 22K gold wedding band for someone with big fingers, and they had just the right size! Good selection of 22K gold jewelry. The woman behind the counter was a bit reserved throughout the entire transaction, but she ended up giving us a discount.

Great hole in the wall place that sells high end watches. They are authorized Rolex and Omega. I’ve bought a handful of watches from them — Submariner, Speedmaster, GMT, etc. I’ve even gotten rare anniversary models like the Green Submariner and 35th Anniversary Speedmaster. They can’t discount the hot watches like the Daytonas but you can get deals on everything else. I normally travel abroad to buy watches but these guys are pretty good. Too bad they don’t sell Panerai or I’d be there right now.
