I came here to try out Karuna for Brazilian wax because of an unexpected appointment change with European Wax Center. Her prices for Brazilians are competitive and with the 10% off promotion I thought that I would give it a try. After using the online booking system and confirming the appointment the day before I arrived 5 minutes before my appointment. Karuna at first was confused and thought my appointment was half an hour later but somehow made the appointment time work anyway. Looking back, I almost wish It didn’t work. The room that is used for also for facials is quite Spartan but clean. So why I didn’t have a great experience with her waxing service? I should have run out the door when she told me she would be using soft wax. It has been a long while since I have had soft wax used on me and now I remember why. Soft wax is not made for sensitive areas and definitely not fit for Brazilians. Karuna also applied the wax over the same area several times, which would have led me to believe that it would be clean but that was not the case. Soft waxes don’t adhere to coarser hairs properly so the result was quite messy. She is a nice lady but given my experience and her tools, I won’t be back!

I found Karuna online when I moved to Bay Area 2 years ago. I have been going her ever since and I don’t think I will be going anywhere else. I believe this says a lot for itself.

Karuna is simply awesome. Best in Bay Area. She is great in facials, painless threading, waxing and hair dos. Great threading experience and I don’t like threading.
Karuna is friendly and patient. Because of her skills the pain is very minimum to non existent. The salon is very clean, and the hostess is friendly. I will come again.

I was given a Groupon as a gift so went to Karuna with no expectations.
First of all, the facial room was dirty and so was the smock! The facial was good. I enjoyed Karuna’s method of massaging my face as she has nice strong hands.
However, she left product on my face when she was finished. The process also was faster than what was advertised. I might add that her manor is a bit rude and abrupt!

Karuna gives my eyebrows a perfect shape! She is very precise and punctual. I love how she remembers every little need of mine and addresses it. Oh and I enjoy her facials too. so relaxing! She is very easy and flexible to schedule appointment with. Glad I found her!

Although this business has a high rating, some of the individual reviews left me unsure of what to expect. I’m glad I took a chance.
I bought the Groupon for the European Hydra advanced facial. She was on time, professional, and (my most important requirement for a facial) quiet. She wasn’t one of those estheticians who talks through the service.
Karuna has a great extraction method, very gentle. I barely even noticed that she was doing extractions.
I really enjoyed my hour with Karuna, and I highly recommend giving her services a try!

Thank you for taking the time to respond to my review Karuna. I have gone for many facials before and after visiting your salon and none was Acne specific and have given me excellent results (even at much lower prices). I am not disappointed with the fact that you didn’t perform an acne facial on me. In fact, I bought the EuropeonHydra facial after I heard amazing things about it and did my research about what it is before going for it. My resentment it that
1. A one hour process (as said) was done within half an hour.
2. Not even the slightest comedones were cleared (in spite of repeatedly asking since I could feel the white heads with my hands)
3. Due to the rush rush procedure my blemishes were more visible and not even the slightest glow or benefit of a facial.
4. I could see how motivated you were to give me a good service before telling you I had a groupon and the Change when I told you about having a groupon.
I am glad if groupon customers are getting better service NOW which I Didn’t get!
I go ahead and put a negative review only when I am extremely disgusted with a service nand feel that it’s worth zero, so others can make an informed choice and not regret later.

If you want the best facial, come to see Karuna. She done a good job on my client. I will tell all my clients come to her for facial. You will enjoy and feel better after works. She is very friendly.

Karuna is experienced, professional and excellent beautician. I have been using her service for facial, waxing, hair color and eyebrows over 7+ years. She is committed to her appointment time. So, here I am on Unilocal desperately searching for threading services since my go-​to is on vacation and generally difficult to make an appointment with. Us Unilocalers are always in search for a 5 Star establishment and so my eyes naturally gravitated towards Karuna with her high ratings.
I was very excited to learn that booking an appointment online (and with an app) was available! A+ for convenience! Karuna was quick to confirm my appointment and send reminders all through e-​mail and phone notifications. In addition to the online services, the location is close to my home so I was already falling in love.
I arrived promptly for my appointment inside the 5150 Salon. Karuna greeted me by name and showed me the way to her working area located right in the middle of the salon. Having all of the hairstylists working with their own clients (blowdrying and other chatter) left little room for Karuna and I to really build a rapport because of all of the noise.
Her work is at a pace that I’m not really used to. I’m obviously not skilled in this area, but I have been getting threaded for about a decade and others usually do it with swifter motions. I found myself stretching my skin for longer than I’m used to. I thought, maybe she likes to take her time and is meticulous?
I’m content with the outcome of my eyebrows, but not amazed. They’re symmetrical and clean, but I prefer sharper lines and definition — the whole reason why I prefer threading over any other method. A tad bit disappointed but definitely not devastated.
I would keep this place in mind for backup, but would still prefer my go-​to even though it’s so difficult to make an appointment.
