Madelene is the best. She’s been styling and cutting my hair for years. Great establishment.

My hair style has been the«Ratchet Miley Cyrus»(blonde, super short and undercut) for the longest time but I’ve been letting the long part of my hair grow out for the last year or so. I’ve been going to barbers only to trim my undercut, so it’s been a while I’ve walked into a salon. Just last September, I dyed the blonde to a blue for Comic Con which then faded into a greenish-blue the last few months. I’ve got a job interview next week and a gala to attend next weekend so I’m on a tight budget and needed a cut badly. After researching local places, I was sold when I read someone else’s review about a wash, cut, and style for $ 35. I called in to find out the time since there were no hours posted and luckily they accepted me as a walk-in. I explained to Samantha about my unique hairstyle and she understood how I wanted it. Trim the undercut and chop off the highlights. Got it trimmed to a shoulder length and added a bit of layers. It wasn’t a big difference, but it was needed to get rid of the dry and damaged strands. My hair looks fresh and light, ready for spring! I’ll definitely come back again in the future. Here’s a before and after pic from my instagram:

I haven’t had a haircut since I left my home country 8 months ago. Back home, I go to a stylist who’s been doing my hair for 10 years. Although I used to get haircuts monthly or bi-monthly, it was hard for me to just walk in to a salon in New York. That’s until I tried Creative Cuts today. I came without an appointment, and I was treated with such great service! Danna cut my hair expertly, and made it a point to ask me if I was okay with every single thing she was doing to my hair. I showed her a photo of what I wanted, and she asked me as she went along with cutting sections of my hair if I was okay with everything. Ended up with really pretty asymmetrical hair!

About two years ago, I talked to Angela at Creative Cuts about a crazy idea I had with my hair. I have long wavy dark brown hair. What I wanted to do was dye the ends of my hair INFLAMES! As in Red/orange/yellow ends, commonly called dip dyed hair. She didn’t think I was some weirdo. In fact, she told me EXACTLY what Manic Panic dyes to get and we scheduled an appointment. I felt very comfortable having her work on my hair; this woman’s a pro right from the consultation! I came back, armed with crazy colors like«electric banana» and Angela got to work. It took an extremely long time for my hair to take the bleach, but she managed to get my super dark ends to a platinum blonde. Then the multiple hair dyes, rinsed and styled. I wasn’t sure it was going to look okay but she styled my hair in curls. She took her time and did it right the first time. When it was all done, It came out SPECTACULAR! For a very punk rock color(my hair actually glowed under UV light), she actually made it look classy and punk at the same time! I got so many compliments on my hair after that. Far better than I imagined! And for the number of hours she spent on my hair — it had to be 2 – 3 hours — and the skilled work, it was very reasonably priced. Creative Cuts is a fitting title for this place. She was not afraid to get creative on my hair!

The best hair salon in Fresh Meadows by far, absolutely each of the hairdressers are equally gifted«hair artists». My curly, thick, and long hair always looks fantastic after any one of the stylists work on it– my primary stylist is Steph. She is extremely talented, honest, listens and executes the kind of style I want, and is an all-around fun individual. Angela and Lori also take care of me too– they can do beautiful cuts, blow-dries, and styles– just all wonderful, and caring people working in this salon. They are very busy, so I recommend to call about two or three weeks in advance for an appointment with the stylist of your choice. They can definitely improve on a few things, i.e.- hairdresser etiquette, cleanliness, use of higher-end products, revamp of décor, and offering beverages. However, «what you see is what you get» here, and I overlook all the other things I think they can improve on because the cuts are«creative» and professional-looking; and the prices are extremely fair/affordable. Excellent for all occasions, trustworthy; licensed & experienced hair-dressers. I highly recommend to all!

This place rocks! Whenever I need a cut or nice blowout this is the place to be. Mazal, Angela, Stephanie Are all Amazing! They do what you want but at the same time if you ask they will give their honest opinion on what looks best based on the event and your face shape. Im very attached to my hair and I dont really trust anyone else but them to cut my hair Always walk out feeling confident and happy! Other salons charge a arm and a leg for long and thick hair– i believe wash cut and blow starts at 30 and im charged like 35 usually because i have long and thick hair. Once or twice i pay 40 but never more. Great price for my budget! Cash or Check only I wish they were open monday’s tho! HIGHLYRECOMMEND!

I really loved this place until my last visit. I found this salon as a frantic walk-in, in need of a hair fail fix. I came back a few times since but my last visit I made an appointment for color days in advance and when I sat in the chair I was told that she doesn’t have time for color and will do my roots… But I thought that’s why I made an appointment? I wanted a different color but walked out not exactly pleased.

My absolute favorite. I have been to numerous salons in walking distance from me, and they have been pricy and didn’t even do a good job, so I was all out of options. I was told to try Creative Cuts, and although it’s further from where I live, I bussed it and it was SO worth it. My hairdresser is Audrey and she is so brilliant. She is so funny and talented. She colors so well and I love how she cuts and blows out my hair. She knows what I want, even if I can’t explain it well. She did my prom hair and it was beautiful, she did my makeup as well! I got so many compliments. After my bad experiences with my hair salons around by my house, getting my hair done would be a nightmare, but going to Creative Cuts completely changed that. I get EXCITED to go do my hair. Audrey does my hair and is a total sweetheart, as are the rest of the staff. They converse with you and really make you feel at home. The atmosphere is so clean and light, and the area around is beautiful. Their prices can’t be beat. Not only are they professional with their coloring and styling, but they actually give you instructions on how to care for your hair after too. They are very thorough and amazing. I usually spend about 60 – 65 and I get a color, cut, and blow out!!! By me, they would charge close to two hundred! Creative Cuts is a great place and I don’t even mind the travel bc it is so worth it. I encourage everyone to try this salon, you will love it.

I walked in two days ago without an appointment, with a dreadful non-salon haircut that I had been trying to fix with my own pair of scissors for weeks. Mazel said she’d take me right then, and got to work fixing the terrible, overgrown mess on my head. Mazel was extremely professional and nice, even when instructing me to never cut my hair again.(And I promise I won’t). She listened to everything I wanted, and took her time shaping my hair and taking some of the bulk out. When she was finished, my hair looked awesome. It was exactly the cut I was looking for. In addition, it was much cheaper than I expected it to be. I’m definitely looking forward to coming back here, and am bummed that I will be moving out of the area. Cash only!

I’ve lived in the neighborhood for many years and I’ve traveled all over for my hair and paid a lot of money to get a good cut, highlights, etc. because I am very particular about my hair. However, I’ve reached a point where traveling all over is wasting my time and gas money… I saw a woman with a very similar haircut to mine and I asked her where she gets it cut, so she told me about Mazel in Creative Cuts. I went to speak to Mazel that same day and she was very nice, she sat me down and analyzed my hair, gave me her recommendations, etc, but since I had just had my color and cut done, I wasn’t ready to have my hair done. I went back about a month later and she gave me a good cut and did roots; I was satisfied, so I returned when I was ready to have my roots, highlights and another cut. My color looks phenomenal, and the cut she gave me the second time was even better than the first haircut; it’s right in my neighborhood, and the prices are very reasonable(a lot cheaper than I’ve paid in the past). I’m so glad I now have a neighborhood place that does a great job! I also observed the other hair stylists/colorists in the salon and they also do a really nice job! Like someone else mentioned in thier review, it’s not a fancy place, but it’s a friendly place, it’s clean, and the stylists are very nice… and the price is very reasonable… What more can you ask for~ Just one more thing… Mazel did EXACTLY what I asked her to do… I asked her to cut off two inches, and she did just that… no more, no less.

I haven’t been back here in over a year, mostly because the stylist I used to go to no longer works there and I’ve moved to Manhattan but Unilocalers need to know about this place. Unless their prices have changed dramatically, you could get a real professional haircut and blow out for $ 25 – 30, I’ve payed upwards of 40 for other places in Queens and between 50 – 75 for comparable cuts in the city. I’ve seen two stylists other than my usual one there and they were both great. I can’t recommend it enough. It’s not even a «no frills» place, it is very cute, professional and friendly staff. Maybe they don’t use the high-end styling products… but that’s about the only thing you’ll be missing. They get a lot of clients in the neighborhood, and they are very in demand for weddings. This place is a gem, I keep searching for something similar for the same price because I don’t really enjoy going back to that neighborhood, but I think I’ll start coming back again!
