The place is casual, not very noisy, plenty of seating but a bit on the dirty side. The staff are really nice and attentive. As for the food, it’s a little better than good but not awesome… Just standard good Chinese food. You won’t be disappointed but it won’t knock your socks off either. Nice place to sit down and get some good Chinese food if your local and just looking to keep it simple without getting dressed up, etc. good for a large group also. The place is pricey though… I would recommend but if you know of any other Chinese restaurants in the queens or Nassau area with great food, drop me a note. It’s hard to find GREAT Chinese. Lol Enjoy

If you are a fan of Peking Duck it is criminal to come here and not order it. Other dishes have been hit or miss although the service has always been excellent. True this is more Americanized Chinese food than one can find in Queens. Still the Peking Duck is awesome.

Love this place. Went here late at night on a thursday right before they were closing for takeout but the manager insisted we stay and enjoy our dinner inside. We did and I cannot begin to explain the level of hospitality here. Each and every person who worked here had great manners and got our orders right. We ordered the Boneless Spare ribs and Lo mien, Scallion pancakes and 2 Strawberry virgin Daiquiri. SOGOOD. The food came out fresh and quick and we fell in love with our drinks. Will be returning and recommending all our friends try this place. Regardless of the price you get what you pay for and this place lived up to our expectations.

I ordered seafood tofu soup, fried dumplings, house special fried rice and moo shu pork. Disclaimer, I didn’t order any of the expensive and fancy dishes as it was Sunday night and we got there 30 mns before closing. So we kept it pretty simple. The soup was delightful and fresh tasting, a clear tasty broth with a definite seafood kick. I loved the added crisp from the snow peas and decent helping of actual shrimp and small chunks of scallops or some other type of white fish. A nice way to launch our dine in experience. The fried dumplings were a step above take out but definitely American Chinese style with a pretty hearty layer of dough. The filling was a nice ground pork mix, neither dry nor too moist. My house special fried rice was just ok, mediocre at best. Fried rice is neither the fanciest nor most flavorful dish but done right it can be hearty and tasty. My main issues were it was on the oily side(but it’s FRIED rice duh) and I get a lot more proteins like pork and shrimp when ordering take out or delivery, like A LOT more! There was some shrimp and some chunks of pork but more chicken than anything else. Also the dish could’ve used some nice twist on vegetables. Nothing too adventurous just to show they care about their food. Lastly we have the moo shu pork. They prep them for you at the table like tableside guacamole at a Mexican restaurant. Bonus points. This dish was also unnecessarily oily. So much so, the last pancake wrap ended up leaking through our brown takeout bag onto the car seat. But on the plus side it tasted just as good warmed up for 30 seconds in the micro. The pork and cabbage filling was good and the hoisin sauce definitely added that extra kick of sweetness. For $ 30 total the food was just ok. The dining experience was pleasant but noticed their dishes were a little on the crusty side. Sometimes it helps to ask what their restaurant is known for and order that! My main issues were the oiliness of the main courses and both entrees could have more meat to be fair. I understand a restaurant wants to profit but not at the cost of the diner’s experience. You get free hot tea, fried noodle with a tasty house duck sauce and fresh oranges at the end.

This is another place that I can’t speak highly enough about. I’ll travel just to be able to eat here. I’ve never had a bad plate and the servings are large enough that leftovers will make up another meal. What I like best about this place is how healthy the food seams. Unlike many restaurants, Peking House seems to cut back on the amount of unnecesary oil in their cooking. Their Sizzling Rice soup is a must try. I keep looking for somewhere else that makes it, but it is definitely a Peking House specialty! They also have an outdoor eating area(well, under glass) which provides nice ambiance.

I came here after class and running errands all day. They have lunch specials that are pretty selective but with those lunch prices, you can’t argue. You’re automatically served with water, tea, and these fried chips with sauce. The lunch special comes with soup, rice, and entrée. I tried a chicken entrée but was surprised at the amount they give you for lunch. You can literally count the pieces with two hands. The waiters are attentive and nice, though, and the place seats many.

If you want to eat Chinese fast food at 3 times the price, than this is the place for you. Why order General Tso Chicken for $ 14.00 when you could get it for under $ 10 two blocks down at Seven Stars. Mostly every dish here is Chinese fast food style even if it doesn’t sound like it. That means syrupy sweet sauces and deep fried proteins. My friend tried to order 椒子雞 and the waiter didn’t even know what it was considering it was on the menu. They brought it out and it was completely different. A lesson we learned here was don’t order non-Beijing style food at a restaurant named Peking house because their takes on Cantonese and Sichuan dishes were mediocre at best. The only dish that was good was the Peking duck. Thank Buddha they didn’t just serve a roast duck and called it Peking duck, yet I still question the authenticity. The dish was prepared pre-sliced so don’t expect a show. A waiter brought out a plate of meat and crepes and made wraps on the spot. The skin was golden crispy and the meat was moist. Combined with some freshness from the spring onions and sweetness of the hoisin sauce, it was delicious. But for $ 30+, you only get enough meat for barely 8 wraps. For that price, give us the rest of the duck. Maybe its the exotic factor or the neighborhood doesn’t know better, but Peking House is your typical Chinese fast food restaurant in the disguise of something more elegant. The food is not awful because we all love a plate of sweet and sour pork or sesame chicken from time to time. But you are only fooling yourself with the premium you pay here.

Your typical old school Chinese restaurant, just like the one you used to frequent when you where a tot, but now you can order your piña colada with actual liquor. I love this restaurant. The staff is attentive yet slightly rude and sarcastic, kinda like me. The food is delicious and comes in nice big portions, definitely enough for two people to share a plate. The prices are reasonable and there is plenty of street parking. Way better than Chinese take out, go eat and be merry!

Having a great meal with my family tonight was wonderful at Peking house. We order chicken and broccoli sesame chicken and house fried rice. Everything was cooked to perfection as usual love it here. Will return again and again to try out other dishes. Love the atmosphere.

Very good food, excellent service, great atmosphere and all around a great restraunt. Only downside(which is why this didn’t get a 5 star rating) was that the waiter seemed quite disinterested in us as customers. I got the feeling we were more of a bother than anything else. He answered all our questions, gave us time, but it just seemed like he didn’t want to be there.

Awesome food… Very Fresh and delicious… I don’t eat beef so the waiter let me substitute the beef for lamb and boy was it good… Give this place a try…

Nice place. We ordered a whole duck and some specialities on the secret menu. Peking roasted duck was rich in taste and also rich in calories. Lol

Great customer service, good quality food and fair pricing. Peking House is actually one of my favorite Chinese Restaurants. I love the fried flat noodles they give you with duck sauce that comes before any meal. The quality of the food is above Chinese Takeout standard and does qualify them as an actual restaurant. There are many Chinese food«Restaurants» that proclaim they are a restaurant, but the quality is worse than Panda Express(fast food Chinese food chain). Peking is NOT one of these restaurant wannabe’s. They feature authentic Chinese dishes with great taste and freshness that is unmatched. Everything was great except the fact that one of the waiters were blasting Chinese music in the other room while he was eating his lunch.

I went to Peking House after hearing about how good the Peking duck was. I have to say, it’s good. Really good. 36 dollars serve up enough food for 2 – 3 people depending on how well you eat. If you have never had duck before, know that it is very fatty and that you will feel full quickly because of the fat. The atmosphere’s… interesting. Not exactly sure what they are going for. The place just feels very old. Overall, good food and old/cute atmosphere. I definitely recommend you try it at least once if you’ve never had Peking duck before.

Upon arrival to this empty restaurant, a friendly staff quickly sat us on a 2×2 table. It was sticky and dirty. 4 waiters all came and asked if we wanted a drink. After getting the $ 9 drink, I left most of it because it was not properly made and it was watered down. We ordered a few dishes and soup. Soup came out cold and had no flavor. The shrimp we ordered was real bad and had that iodine taste. Gross! The chicken dish I ordered also came out cold and had no flavor. The only good thing about this place is the free bowl of noodles they put on your table. After seeing a bill close to $ 65, and leaving still hungry, my friend and I both said that we would never go back. Anywhere else, what we ordered would’ve been $ 20-$ 25. Way overpriced for cold bland food. My local take out place is 1000% better. Never again!

This is one of my all-time favorite Chinese restaurants in NYC. Peking House has the rare combination of unpretentious, affordable, and most importantly, delicious. The service has been consistently attentive and efficient, and the décor and light classical music always puts me at ease after a hectic day. All the appetizers are all solid, and so are the main dishes, with a couple of standouts. The walnut shrimp, cashew chicken, and the eggplant are some of my family’s favorites. They all match savory sauces with the perfect texture for each dish — tender chicken, crispy shrimp, and melt-in-your mouth(in a good way) eggplant. I really hope Peking continues to get love from the Fresh Meadows community and beyond. Always reliable for good food!

I’ve passed by Peking House many times, and I always see a lot of people eating here, so I decided to give it a try. We came on a Saturday evening, and it wasn’t as crowded as I expected. The host was very friendly and let us pick any seat we wanted. The atmosphere of the restaurant is pretty nice. It has an intimate and classy vibe, without the«city attitude». We ordered Scallion Pancakes and Steamed Dim Sum to start our dinner. The pancakes were very good, but I wasn’t a big fan of the dim sum. For the main dish, I ordered the Crispy Shrimp with Honey Walnuts from the chef’s special. I loved the combination of the jumbo shrimps, walnuts and the tangy sauce. It was delicious! Would definitely order again! I thought Peking House was a great place for dinner. I think I will bring the family with me next time as it’s a nice restaurant for a group.

We were invited out to dinner with some old friends we had not seen in years. One of our friends had eaten here in the past and made a reservation for 8 people. They put us in a separate room away from the rest of a very busy Saturday night dinner service. The joint was jumping so to speak and was very busy at 7:30 when we arrived. But our table was ready and we were seated in no time. A waiter came to our table to take our drink order. One of my friends ordered a Jack Daniels on the rocks. The waiter asked what«lox» was. We had to explain it was ice. This is this restaurant’s main problem, the staff does not speak very good English. Which made ordering an adventure. But we managed to get our order in. We first ordered appetizers for the table and when they brought the appetizers we ordered the remainder of our meal. I must say the food in this restaurant was very good for Chinese food in Queens. We had a bunch of assorted dumplings and dim sim for the apps. I had to try an egg-roll and it too was very good, nice and crispy on the outside and not greasy at all with a good assortment of veggies on the inside. For the main course we ordered some crispy shrimp with walnuts, steak in black peppercorn sauce, the steak was a little stringy but it was very flavorful. We also ordered the house special rice noodles and some sauteed bok choy and shitake mushrooms. A couple of bowls of brown and white rice were brought to the table to complete the meal. We ordered some ice cream for dessert and they also brought a couple of plates of sliced oranges and fortune cookies. If I lived in the area I would probably go back again as the food was quite good despite the weird service. But if I have to drive to a Chinese restaurant, I’m driving into Chinatown to eat at Hop Kee, my favorite Chinese restaurant in NYC. See my review on Unilocal

This review took me a while to decide on… but alas, I will rate it with a 3. A bunch of us decided to try Peking House because of the raving reviews for the Peking Duck(I’ll get to it later). Aside from that we understood that(and prepared ourselves with the idea that) this would not be the Chinese food we would be getting from an actual Chinese banquet hall. Walking into Peking House, I immediately was brought back to my childhood; To a time when my(Asian) family and I were on vacation in Virginia and decided to have Chinese food one night for dinner because we wanted something«familiar.»(Times have changed my palette for the better!) What I mean is that this is a fancy-esque Chinese restaurant that would be the pioneer for all Chinese take-out places to come. With the exception of the Peking duck(that was very good and came with the thin rice paper wrapper instead of the«modern» fluffy white«roll») everything else was what I would now expect from my local Chinese takeout spot. You will find General Chicken(without the«Tso’s»), lobster sauce, chow fun, and fried rice here. You will NOT find Pan-Fried flounder, Peking-style pork chops, or even Chinese broccoli here. To sum it all up, While Peking’s service is very attentive, the menu was designed to win over the American palette of the 50s and 60s. If you visit with that understanding, you will NOT be disappointed in what comes to the table.
