Stopped in to pick up some fruit on a road trip. The store is small but has just about everything you will need. Great customer service too!

This is a great little market that has a bit of everything. We love the pan dulce that they sell there. We haven’t tried the sausage yet but based on the other reviews we definitely will soon! It’s in a very convenient location right off the 99 on Olive and has a good sized parking lot. The necessities are about on par with Savemart/Von’s type grocery stores and I’d rather spend my money here when I need to pick up something quick. It’s a no-frills place with really high shelves packed with stuff but organized. It was clean and the staff was very friendly and courteous. Job well done in my book!

South Fresno’s best kept secret for Country Style Sausage! We drive from Tulare County just to load up on this sausage and even some for our friends — great for sandwiches, breakfast, on pizza, and more! Also, ask for the marinated salami end cuts, not always available but to die for!

Best little market in Fresno. Hands down best butcher counter I’ve ever been to. Everything is fresh and of high quality. Everyone raves about their sausage but I want to mention their steaks; they are nice and thick, and more importantly, very well priced. We’ve been coming here for years and will continue to do so. Great staple in the neighborhood.

I’ve been going to Choice Market for years, I love the German Sausage, also their beef Fajitas once I got some 1 inch thick huge T-bone steaks cut and they were awesome. The meat counter is great. I like buying from a meat counter verses buying meat already packaged up at a regular grocery store.

This is a getto market!!! However they make some of the best sausage in Fresno!!! The german is killer and the breakfest sausage is also great. If u are a hunter, u can take ur animal here and they will butcher it for u and make some sausage out of ur animal. We took a wild boar there awhile back. OMG, they did a great job!!! The boar sausage was off the hook. They have several sausage recipies u can choose from. Great butcher shop!!! As far as the market part, i havent purchased to many items. I save that shopping for Winco. But what i have bought here is fairly priced… Try the sausages!!!

This is a great little market on the corner of Olive and N. Hughes in Fresno. It happens to be within walking distance of the RV park we are staying at while on contract in the city. Anyway, this little store is in a poorer neighborhood, no fancy houses around. Markets in such neighborhoods can go one of two ways. Make things more expensive for the people in the neighborhood who don’t have cars and easy ways to get around, or give them the best prices and products you can for reasonable prices. I am VERY happy to report that Choice Market falls solidly into the second, honest, category. They keep a very packed store with a full selection of items to allow locals to get their food and supplies and they keep their prices low. They have a small meat counter in the store and I got clued to the vibe of this place when I went in the other morning to pick up some breakfast stuff. I looked at the selection in the meat counter and the breakfast sausage they make there looked pretty good, so I said I would take a pound of that. The guy behind the counter, who is always there, btw, expertly pulled out a little over a pound of sausage. I said, «that’s fine, what you have there is close enough.» The guy smiled, took down the weight and priced the sausage, then went back in and grabbed me some more to put in the package for free. Butchers used to do that kind of thing years ago. Give you a little extra, show you a kindness. I was kinda flabbergasted, but said thanks very much. Okay, so I get the sausage home and cooked it and that sausage is the very best I have ever bought out of a meat counter in California, and that is 25 years worth of buying sausage. The first thing you get in the flavor is «lean» not just fat. Toothsome, not rubbery. It has a very tasty spice and cooks up beautifully. We are traveling back and forth from here to our home once or twice a week so I went back and picked up a larger package to take home with us. The quality and flavor is just outstanding. My last time in, I decided to try some pork chops and what they call«German Sausage» which is a long sausage sold in a coil. Took it home and grilled it. It’s bratwurst and it, once again, is the best I have had in California. You have to go back to Illinois and Wisconsin to get anything better. The counters are small, the aisles packed, but still they have a decent selection of meats, produce, canned goods, cleaning supplies, even some stuff for pets. The beer is cheap and cold, too. Maybe not the selection you will get at the«Bev-Mo» or the Staters, but they don’t rip you off, either. Overall, this is my idea of the great little neighborhood market. When we were here in Fresno before we weren’t staying in our RV but rented an apartment up on the North side. The closest thing I found up there where the prices were decent was the R-N Asian market on Cedar at Herndon. But if I were still staying up on that side of town I would make time to come down to Choice Foods to get that incredible sausage. Edit-9−13−2012: Just wanted to add that they will grind meat for you, too. Try their fresh ground pork in a meatloaf or in porkburgers. Also, 10# bag of Russet potatoes at my local Albertson’s market is $ 3.99. Choice Market price for the same 10# bag? $ 1.49 You just can’t ask for a better neighborhood store and meat market. I love this place!
