Hungry Howie’s Pizza

My husband and I ordered from Howie’s after reading a few reviews and taking a chance. We were pleasantly surprised! The service was fast and the food was hot upon arrival. We ordered a pizza calzone, howie bread, and two different howie rolls (steak & cheese and pepperoni). The food was all tasty and plentiful. We have a third of the howie bread and both the rolls for later! Very affordable and perfect for fast or late night food! If you are looking for fancy and pretentious, this is not your spot, but otherwise this is sure to hit the spot.

Based off of the multiple positive experiences we have had in the past I can say without a doubt that this location has been nothing but disappointing. Every order has been late and horridly subpar. The most recent completely ignored our request for sides, gave the wrong bread, and completely screwed up a chef salad, which I didn’t even realize was possible. If by some miracle we choose to patronize hungry howies again it will most certainly never be from this location. Avoid at all costs.

Wow what a great pizza. With 100%mizzerall cheese and fresh dough. Dropped by with family. Kids loved it. 3 cheesier hosiery bread was fantastic. Spicy chicken wings are excellent. Pizza was hot fresh and crunchy with Cajun crust. This was the best pizza we had. Best of luck for the business owner. Excellent service and very nice team. We are coming back for sure.

This joint is a hole in the wall but the pizza is not bad for the price.
I ordered a large pepperoni pizza with butter crust for the kids, thinking it was just going to be for them, but after biting into a slice… I ended up eating 3.5 slices, leaving one of my kids still hungry. :)
The location isn’t in the best area and the waiting area is tight up front… but the staff here is friendly and they work their tails off to get the pizzas made right.
I’ll be coming back here again to order some good inexpensive pizza again!

I always get the pizza sub it’s so good !!! If you ask for Cajun instead of butter on top it taste Devine! The delivery is quick and the quality always consistent !

The pizza was alright, but the Howie Bread was spot on. I got it with cinnamon and sugar and it was awesome. The main reason I am reviewing this place is that it was open on Sunday night AND delivered to my apartment. Judging by the sad state of open restaurants in Fresno on sunday nights, Howie’s is a win.

In my experience, and in the experience of my nerd friends who come over to game weekly, Hungry Howie’s is the best pizza to feed a multitude of people– and personally, I don’t mind it for dinner every so often.
The pizza at Hungry Howie’s is kinda like Little Caesars– $ 5 for a Large Pepperoni or Cheese pizza (take out only)– the difference, however, is that Hungry Howie’s pizza is significantly better in quality and taste. The flavored crust is a favorite of many people I eat the pizza with– it gives you a delicious treat once you’ve eaten the pizza.
My girlfriend and I both feel that the sauce is the most important part of a pizza and we ask for extra sauce on all of our pizzas– and hungry howies (for a $ 1.50 more [worth it]) will slather the pizza with their delicious sauce. The cheese is thick and gooey every time and their toppings, the ones I’ve had, are extremely good.
Now, keep in mind, all the things that I am saying are relative– compared to a fancy restaurant or homemade pizza, it isn’t excellent pizza– but the quality, flavor and convenience of their pizza makes it quite easily the best cheap pizza you can get– it beats Pizza Hut and Dominoes in quality in my opinion and as far as that realm of pizza goes– you can’t get much better.
Also– the service that I have received at Cedar/​Shields is nothing but fantastic. The employees seem to understand the importance of friendliness and they’ve always gotten our pizzas done in a timely manner.

Decent pizza, decent value for price. The flavored crust is a bit of a ruse, as I think they just shake different seasonings on it, and there is not much extra flavor. We called on a Friday or Saturday one time at 10PM and they were closed, but so were most of the other pizza options in the area – what’s up?!
