I have been a patient of Dr. Monteleone for approx. three years. He is an intelligent, soft spoken man, with a good bedside manner. His down side is that he listens but does not hear you. I do not see him writing information that I have provided him in my chart. My experience has been that Dr. Monteleone focuses on one issue per appointment. As I have gotten older, I have several different medical issues and do not have the time in my work schedule to make a doctor appointment once or twice a week to address each issue one at a time. Not being willing to address 2 or 3 medical issues during a single appointment leads me to believe that billing for office visits are a priority over patient care. My perception was confirmed on 01-05-2016 when I was advised of his new policy that requires a credit card be placed on file with my authorization for his office to bill it before you can be seen. I have a primary PPO insurance plan through work, a secondary PPO insurance plan through my wife’s work, and an additional supplemental insurance plan via my labor organization. I am fortunate to have three good insurance plans, and even more fortunate that it is extremely rare that I would have to ever pay out of pocket for any doctor visit. I was not happy and questioned the policy with his office manager. She advised me that all the doctors at Sierra Pacific Orthopedic Center now have the same policy and blamed it on the ACA, commonly referred to as Obama Care. I explained to her that billing for unnecessary office visits negatively impacts insurance cost, causing them to rise. I also explained that every time I give out my credit card information, it is one more opportunity for my identity to be stolen. I know many of my co-workers go to doctors at the Sierra Pacific Orthopedic Center. Recently a co-worker told me that Dr. Montelene’s office has already billed his credit card twice in error causing our labor organizations insurance representative to get involved so he could be reimbursed. Long story short, I am once again looking for a family doctor that believes patient care is the priority!
