Mr Sushi

I luv this place, great atmosphere, clean and close to other walking distance bars and entertainments.
Waitresses were friendly and fast, food was surely yummy. Gona bring my family soon!

I came here for the first time. Even though it only had one review. I shared the lobster roll, dragon roll and hot rod roll with my friend. We agreed it was the best rolls. I really liked the service and the atmosphere. Im definitely coming back.

I LOVE THIS SUSHI PLACE SO MUCH. I only come here because the workers are so nice and they always make sure that I’m 100% satisfied with my food :)))))))) I should probably mention that I hate sushi so much but for some reason when I come here, I don’t mind eating a piece. I always order the rice bowls

Meh, the food was ok. The service is terrible. I was determined to eat sushi last night so I put up with the chef’s poor attitude. He was not at all interested in helping. He made the food fine but with such an empty place you would think he would be more enthusiastic. We eat sushi often and all around town. I feel like I got ripped off. Don’t waste your time. There are countless better options. I’ll never go back here.

Service was bad. We got a total of three napkins. No forks. We asked twice. Never coming back definitely sticking to my home aka sushi culture. The waitress was rude and got annoyed when we asked for napkins and forks.

SLOW waitstaff only three tables had guests, I don’t think that is an excuse to be on your cell phone and laughing and talking with the other waitress.
I had to ask for my check three times.
Or I was asked if I was ok and kept replying, «we are finished, check please.»
Some dusting the waitress could be doing if they are board, or don’t need to tend to guest at the sushi bar.
Also when asking the sushi chef for NO Peanuts on the OMG Roll… Do NOT put them on. If I had been there with my son, whom is allergic to peanuts, that would have been really bad had I not noticed!
I haven’t been here in a little over two years, now I remember why!

Man, I really hate to sound like a prude, but this place did not «Wow» me what so ever. I’ve heard many good things about Mr. Sushi however the experience and food spoke otherwise.
For starters all the hand written signs on the entrance door are completely tacky, there must have been 10 signs. Come on people we are not in the 80’s. Invest in proper window decals. You don’t need to have signs that say «We refuse the right to service» and hand written lunch hours.
My buddy and I ordered Edamame, 4 pieces of Tuna, a dragon roll, water and a flower blossom. Edamame was good but extremely salty. There was only one chef working with approximately 25 people in the restaurant? Needless to say we received our sushi rolls 20 minutes later.
The rolls were very skimpy and had very little to offer in flavor. The rice was the worst! Nearly every roll that we tried to pick up, would literally fall apart (so irritating). 40 minutes into our lunch we received our 4 piece Tuna (Yea)! The Tuna was very succulent but the rice totally killed the vibe. What took so long to get 4 pieces of tuna out, and who serves it after specialty rolls? Overall, our tab was $ 42, way too pricey for the quality of food.
Being the Sushi lover that I am, I highly doubt I’d ever come back to Mr. Sushi.

I wasn’t expecting too much from this place since it only had three stars but I had a very pleasant experience. I ordered the crab roll and a pair of Unagi & they were both delicious!

I’m surprised by the reviews because the experience I had was perfect. The service was excellent as well as the sushi. We were checked on all the time and the food came out quick. It was around 8:30 so I don’t know how much of a difference that made, but still, I’ll definitely be back.

The service is good. Friendly hostess. Service was quick. The reason for 3 stars is the sushi was not great. It wasn’t bad, but I’ve had better.

I love that Tower has Sushi. I like the atmosphere of Mr. Sushi. It fits with the vibe of Tower. The staff is great. I used to be a regular but hadn’t been in for quite some time (the better part of a year) until recently. They still remembered me and asked how I was. Quite lovely and unexpected.
The food is good to great, depending on what you order. I for one can say that the orange blossom and cherry blossom plates are quite well cut and delicious. The calamari appetizer is very good as well. My favorite thing, however, is the Hwe Dub Bap. A Korean dish made of rice, salad, veggies and sashimi, served with a spicy sauce. It’s absolutely delicious! Mr. Sushi is my favorite place to order this because they do such a good job making it :)
Mr. Sushi has become a Tower anchor the last few years. A cherished spot, rooted deeply in the community here. Find something you love on the menu and keep coming back.

If you like old sushi come here. Staff was friendly and prompt but food is subpar. Maybe the chief should stop watching TV and pay more attention to the food.

Kind of had it with this place to be honest.
Lets start with the pros:
–Decent sushi. (There’s better in town, but there is nothing wrong with it per se.)
–Decent location (Gotta love tower.)
–The «Nemo Roll» is the poop. Not gonna lie.
–The Sushi (nigiri) is a substantially long portion. I dig this.
And now the Bad:
–Above average pricing.
–Burnt Tofu in Miso Soup. The tofu should not be crunchy.
–Miso soup is too salty
–Slightly questionable tuna quality.
And lastly, the ugly:
–The service is absolute, total garbage.
I’ve come multiple times, and I have enjoyed the food. I’ve also been willing to pay just a bit more because I do a lot of work in the Tower District. However, tonight, like other nights, the service was abysmal. I was in the shop with my girlfriend, and my waitress checked in with us not one time during the course of dinner service for a drink refill. I actually had to catch the eye of another waitress just to get some damned soda.
I ended up waiting 10 minutes for someone to take my money, after I had to walk up to the front to ask for my check. No, the waitress couldn’t even be bothered to come and give me my check.
I’ve eaten at the sushi bar before, and the sushi bar chefs look disgruntled and annoyed by your presence. In fact, everyone in there seems downright annoyed.
If I’m going to pay 50 dollars for two people, and you expect a 15 – 20 percent tip on that… then I should at least be asked if I want more pepsi.
Unacceptable, do not recommend. +1 star for being somewhat decent in the sushi department.

Fine. Clean. If you don’t have anything nice to say…
What did I expect. I’m from Pismo Beach, I’m 165 miles from the ocean. I’m in cattle country.
Their beer selection was wildly limited.
But when your in the Tower District, what is one to do?

1. The service was fine. Not friendly nor rude. Just fine.
2. The restaurant lights are very dim.
3. The employees there look unhappy.
4. The sushi rolls we order were good, not delicious.
5. The spicy mango sauce is not spicy at all. It was the worst thing ever. It shouldn’t be called spicy mango.
6. The chicken fried rice looked sad and unpleasant to eat. I didn’t eat the fried rice.
7. The edamame were a disappointment. Worst ever from all the restaurants I’ve been to.

This place is okay.
When you come here you should definitely not expect fresh out of the water fish. I had the spicy scallop roll and I cannot recall what my friend had but they were both just ok.
The rolls did lack a lot flavor but hey… What can we expect when we are so far away from the ocean lol.
I will come here again whenever I am invited by a friend. Other than that, I will not come back.

This place is awsome!
I’m addicted to their sashimi seaweed salad… N I can’t find any other place can make it like that. Too bad I moved away, so now I can only have it once a month when I’m in town visiting :(
Their customer service is great! The chefs n waitress are friendly and fast, we didn’t have to wait very long. I will totally come back everytime I’m in town.

I’ve been here a few times and have decided to finally write a review.
I have been here at different times of the day and have concluded that the service is inconsistent.
It took quite a while to be seated as you walk in, since you can’t seat yourself.
The food was great; it was delivered in average time and depending on what you order, the presentation of your meal will vary as well.
I had the spicy scallop roll that was «ricy» and small. I have major issues when the sushi is dominated by more rice than filling.
The tempura roll on the other hand was very nicely done and was delicious. The dinner bento box that my guests ordered looked delicious and there were plenty of items to enjoy. I am definitely going to try a dinner bento box next. overall, to give this place 4 out of 5 stars. I believe that the service should match the meal.

A good place for a cheap and giant meal.
Vegan options include yaki soba, fried rice no egg, and vegetable tofu bowl. Many of the soups are vegan, too. For starters, the avocado roll or inari. I sometimes finish my entire meal and regret it; much better are the times I take half home for lunch the next day. The tea is buckwheat and perfect in the winter.
Service is always quick.

If you’ve never had sushi, Mr. Sushi should be the spot that pops your cherry. Rolls where delicious. Don’t let the rating throw you off. From the lady’s working the registers to the homie making the sushi. Great place to relax and enjoy some Rolls. Each of us got a different roll; The Hot Rod, Booty Booty Roll (Tempura) & the OMG ROLL. ALL 3 Amazing. take a date, take your family or just go yourself to eat good sushi.
P. S. I gave em 5 stars because they had the game on so i got to watch my Raiders Get The W against the Chiefs!
