My first time eating here. I ordered phở #4, chicken pad thai and egg rolls and hot tea. Everything was so delicious! And the entire meal was $ 25 I think it’s so reasonable. Definitely recommend this place for authentic, delicious Vietnamese cuisine!

Their food is BOMB! Very authentic southeast Asian food! Their larb is freaking on point! Phở was yummy, and their rice plate with egg is more than enough to feed 2 people. If ure looking for authentic Asian food this is the place! This will be my spot whenever I come down to Fresno.

I’ve had Lao Food plenty of times especially when my honey is Lao, but this place is an okay place to grab a bite to eat and they need to work on the flavor on their food though.

First time trying this place. Each item I got was around $ 10 but the serving was huge. 1. The Lao sausage: pretty good but salty, good with a cold beer and full of lemon grass flavor. 2. Pad see ew: maybe my fault since it’s really a Thai dish and this place is more Laotian. Lacked some umph and umami, maybe not sweet enough? The Chinese broccoli was undercooked and the noodles lacked the good char flavor from a hot wok. 3. Nem khao: one of my favorite Laotian dishes. The version here was so so but again the serving was huge, I got take out and the plastic bag they held it in weighed a good 2 – 3 lbs. Not sour enough for me and the crunchy rice was more mushy. Was even more mushy overnight and had to throw it out. Overall it was a pretty homey place with nice people, the things I tried were pretty average. I do want to go back and try some of the soup noodles though.

This place would be a 1 star in Orange County, but in Fresno, I’ll give an extra star. First of all, the restaurant is old and really beat up. The floor, table and everything was really dirty. The décor is really old and need a facelift. The restaurant is located in a really ghetto strip mall, and the neighborhood is a little scary. The menu had ALOT of choices which is good, except it really didn’t give you too much information on what’s in each of the dish. So I just got a pad see eww, which is a whooping $ 9.50 for lunch. Definitely twice as expensive as I’m used to in Orange County. I also had to wait a long time for my food, I guess they were kind of busy. They do not accept credit card under $ 10. I did get a complimentary bottle of water while I waited for my food. The food came out and tasted good, or perhaps I was just really hungry by then. The size was average, and not very filling at all. I was still hungry afterwards.

Loatian food. Loas n Thai peeps r an ethnic bros n sis group. Their language is almost if not 100% identical. Thai boat is one of the best. But i dont recall getting the blood jello cubes. Broth is good. Might be on the tad lil too sweet for some. Havent tried other dishes. Khopiak is one of my fav soups. Will go back and see if they still have that duck blood larb…

When you’re looking for authentic… who cares about fancy décor and modern furniture. You gotta want that hole in the wall, fermented fish smelling, old squeaky brown chairs, and calendars with those hairy asian super models with messed up grills on the wall. Not that I saw all of the above, but try to imagine what I mean. lol Anyway…we ordered the papaya salad, Laovieng Phở, beef jerky, lad nar, and sticky rice. Big Plus: PORTIONS. Huge Portions. Their phở is comparable to an XL bowl of Phở somewhere else and their lad nar plate was enough to easily get two people full if they just shared it. We had a lot of leftovers… The left overs even got me full! Lad Nar: Gravy had a lot of flavor and generous amount of meat. Beef Jerky: The thicker kind, not too dry, not too chewy, and very flavorful spicy jiao(dipping sauce Laovieng Phở: Huge bowl, so much flavor in the broth, and a lot of seafood and beef. Papaya salad: It was good, but they use a lot of pa dek. If you like it that way then you’re good. Its preference. Customer service was good and the food came out fast. I will definitely be returning.

Located in South East Fresno, on a mostly deserted street at night, this place is a hidden gem. We were the only customers at 9:30, but the service was great. The place is family owned, and meals are made to order. We requested a low level of heat/spiciness for our dishes, and the request was understood. The plates of food were large, and could easily be shared between two people. The eggrolls were delicious, served piping hot and not greasy. Produce appeared fresh and were full of flavor. I’m looking forward to coming back and trying more dishes. Don’t let the furniture dictate your having the food for-here, it’s so freshly made, I’d rather eat it piping hot like we had it than take it to-go.

One of the best Best Lao/Thai food you can find. Authentic, generous portions, and so delicious. Atmosphere is laid back,& good costumer service. If you want fusion Thai/Lao food, go elsewhere. This is the place for as real Lao as you can get.

Phở Lao Vieng is simply the best Laotian restaurant in a town that has a large Laotian community. For those of you who are not familiar with this cuisine, Laotian is like Thai but kicked up a notch in terms of flavor. First let’s get this out of the way: the atmosphere is fine, it’s clean and spacious, we go to Asian restaurants for the food, not for date night to impress. Second, despite the name Phở, it’s really not a Vietnamese restaurant and the Phở is not necessarily bad, just not authentic. We love the laarb both the shrimp and chicken versions. By far the best in town, if you order chicken get the gizzard with it and you can get it dark meat only. The shrimp comes barely cooked normally but you can ask them to cook it a little more. The Shrimp Pad Thai is excellent and rivals Thai Country’s. We also like the Pad See Ew and Pad Lad Nah(ask for seafood). The Lao sausage is to die for, great with beer, too bad they don’t have IPA’s. The Papaya salad is done Lao style with shrimp paste so it’s a bit strong for us. The Fried fish with spicy garlic sauce is also excellent. Another dish to die for is the Soft shell crab which comes with a dipping sauce that is so good they ought to bottle and sell. On second thought no they should not because then they will close the restaurant and retire and I’ll be sad.

Sincerely delicious authentic Laotian cuisine based on the main dishes I ordered. Despite the food being great, the atmosphere not so much, therefore take out would be the best option here. The interior itself would have made me run for the hills with its tacky chairs and ugly interior(its clean though– I didn’t see any creepy crawlies while I was there), but being a foodie hunting something different to eat all the time, I was open to try this authentic Laotian experience and Im glad I tried this underrated place. Although I am south east asian, Laotian food remains to be foreign to me, its not as popular as Thai or Vietnamese in popular culture. This is not my first time trying Laotian food though, but this place definitely leaves a further positive impression on their cuisine. Phở Laovieng opens 7 days a week from 10am to 10pm, however the owner did explain that they may close any day during the week, therefore calling them before a visit would be a good idea. I ordered the $ 12.95 beef lab sour-very spicy-medium rare and also the Laotian sausage $ 9.50. The beef lab was delicious but not as sour or spicy as I would have hoped for since Im used to the sour and spiciness from thai food, but the dish tasted really good, the beef and tripe was very soft and tender in texture with hint of chopped fresh herbs, fresh lime juice, saltiness and flavor from fish sauce and finally earthy taste from grounded roasted rice. The dish was delicious and would be something definitely to order, plus this dish is very healthy. The Laotian sausage is definitely unique, its nothing like the western sausage I know, it has good flavor of lemongrass, galangal, kaffir lime leaves, shallots and fish sauce. This is maybe a very fatty option, but the sausage was perfectly cooked, it was soft inside yet very firm with a nice glossy hard casing. The sausage really looked appalling and smelled so good. The taste of the food is definitely authentic and tasted home made. The lady taking my order was nice but kinda awkward at first, she didn’t really speak good english so it was hard to communicate my order at first. But she grew on me, despite the language barrier she got my order right. The food took 10 minutes to be prepared, next time I would call ahead instead. The interior look like something in a kitchen nightmare episode that needs a heavy makeover because its ugly with a capital U, but the food is great so I definitely will be back for more food next time. There is plenty of parking on its private lot. The place is not difficult to find but easy to miss, so make sure GPS guides you, its opposite the road to some Mexican taqueria or something. Its rare that I would award a restaurant like this 4 star, but because the food is so good I have become a fan and 4 star is what it deserves, advice to the wise though– take out is best option.

I had a phở seafood. Unlike other places, there was no size choice. The size of my phở was slightly bigger than M size, so the price(about $ 8.5) seems fair. It was beef broth soup with seafood ingredients, such as surimi, squid, etc. nothing special at all. Soup was unexpectedly good. Usually, at other restaurants, rice noodles are compacted in the soup and I always stir before I eat. But at this restaurant, the noodles were very hot and already mixed with soup very well in the soup. As I eat noodles, I could taste soup as well. The thin layer of oil from beef broth keeps high temperature of soup, noodles and other ingredients. They all were really hot until I finished eating, which made me sweat a lot but it tasted really good. Restaurant was relatively clean, service was also okay. I wanted to give a tip, but paying with debit card didn’t allow me to do so. This is not a fault of the restaurant but there was a group of guys talking loudly and occaisional burps. This was the only negative thing about this restaurant. Judging by their phở seafood, I rate this restaurant with 4.5 stars.

If you want delicious Laos food, definitely check this place out if you’re in the area! It taste like home cooked meals… So authentic, tastes like my grandmother and mom made it for me! I love that my grandparents taught me how to eat Laos food! If I’m ever in town I will make sure I stop here again and again!

My family and I ordered the following dishes: 1) shrimp larb spicy and fairly rare: EXCELLENT! 2) papaya salad: Good. 3) mango salad: Fair. 4) sticky rice: good portion and soft 5) mixed veggies with chicken: Good 6) khaopiak: Good Overall, we will come back for the shrimp larb and try other items on the menu. The location of the restaurant is not the best, but the food is good. The dining area and the restroom were both very clean.

While out shopping on New Year’s eve, we ended up stopping at Phở Laovieng to grab a bite. Phở Laovieng is not one of my usual places to eat, however, after going hiatus from it for about 5 years, I thought we’d give it a try. The setting: Their main seating area consists of long tables that would be able to accommodate groups of 10 or more. They also have smaller tables that can accommodate 4 or less people around the main dining area too. Near the restroom entrance, they mounted a large screen tv. It was great to catch a football game while we were eating. Food: We ordered the following —(Description of items and prices reflected from menu on 12÷31÷14). Papaya Salad — $ 5.97 — Shredded green papaya, hot chili, lime juice, tomato, and fish sauce. —This plate was just okay too. The taste of this dish was not balanced well. There was a little too much of tamarind, and not enough of shrimp paste. Pad Thai — $ 8.21 — Pan fried rice noodles, bean sprout and ground peanut tossed in spicy sauce topped with egg. Choice of meat. —We ordered chicken with our order. The noodles were too sticky and it was too sweet. It had a lot of oil residue on your plate. Nem Khao — $ 10.05 — Fried rice with sour pork mixed with peanuts and green onions. Served with assorted vegetables. —-This was probably the most interesting, but least of my favorite. By all means, I love my sour pork. But, I like it alone, and not mixed up in crunchy fried rice. I mean, some people that I know love this dish. Personally, I don’t. The dish was served cold due to the sour pork. I do love the crunch that you get in every bite. But other than the sour pork taste, it had minimal taste impact. Larb — $ 10.05 — Your choice of meat, tossed with rice powder, green onion, mint served with cucumber and bean sprout. —I’ve had better. We ordered well done beef, that was mild in spicy and a touch of bitter. But out of all the dishes that we ordered, I ate this one up. Service: The service was okay. The waitress came and took our orders quickly and our food came out within 10 – 15 minutes. She came and refilled our drinks without us having to ask(a plus). Overall, I think this restaurant is on my okay list only. However, if I have the time, I’ll rather drive further to my usual spots for food that tastes better and costs about the same.

The food here is really authentic but how good it taste, is really up to what your ordering. First let me point out that being authentic doesn’t always mean good or great. My thought on authenticity is that it was made the original/traditional way of it its origin. Doesn’t justify how much of a certain seasoning was used, or underused. With that said my favorite dish here is beef laab(medium rare, spicy and bitter) and thom keung nai(beef intestine/innard soup). It’s as authentically done and taste. Lad nah is very delicious, beef jerky is tasty, everything else on the menu is considered hit and miss… The owners here are really friendly people but that doesn’t influence my review enough to be favoritism… Although it’s a nice feeling to be appreciated as a customer, which had reasons for me and my family being regulars for as long as I can remember. The pricing is average for the type of restaurant they operate. Can’t ask for good quality food for lesser price I’m sure. Try for yourself and see but if u order anything else outside my recommendation, u on your own buddy. 3.5 stars is all I can say, unless there is more for me to like on the menu(which is quite extensive)…

The taste buds at this place are pretty damn on point. It was my second time here, and they are pretty consistent. First off, I’m full Laos. And this is probably the 3rd south east Asian place I can proudly say, if you wanted to try Lao food, go here.(1st was at sy salathai back in Visalia, and 2nd was South East Asian market in Sacramento). But I’ve gotta say, the menu items here are more then I’ve seen anywhere else. You know your at the right place when you especially find fish sauce, shrimp paste, and toothpicks at your table. Also when you hear the Lao family bickering in the back. Lol. I docked one star because of the flies, and the ghetto inconsideracy of fellow diners.(Also no water refill) But I just put out some shrimp paste and fish sauce on a saucer to attract the flies away from our plates. Surprisingly, I think it repelled both flies and ghetto ppl. Lmao. Any who, it worked and I could enjoy my food. I ordered 2 pepper papaya so that it was sharable with my Chinese bf. Not many places can pull that off, and have me enjoy it too. So kudos for that and adding in kaopoon noodle last minute. You could’ve given me more papaya tho. It came with cabbage and cherry tomatoes(the right ones). I also ordered fried quail, and they sure knew the best part is when it’s crispy enough to eat the bones. Yummmm! Boyfriend also ordered fried intestines to go along side the papaya. They were stinky and a little chewy. Perfect! It’s tasteless if there’s no elasticity. And for the Americans, we ordered the basil stir fry. I went for pork this time hoping for fatty meat, and WOW! I didn’t actually think I was going to get it. It also had a great medley of vegetables, from eggplant, to green beans, even snow peas. And on top was a flash fried yolky egg to drizzle into the rice. My favorite part was the side of cut-up thai peppers in fish sauce that i literally tried with every bite. It was so spicy! Borderline hiccups. So definitely that enjoyable kick I was going for. I gotta order the red kaopoon next time. And yum taley. The photos look so good! Till next time =)

I’m from sac, but I’ve lived in Fresno for a year. I know what Lao food taste like, I’m Lao. This place is great, Lao restaurants in sac are ok to me, except Southeast Asia BBQ on Eleanor, they’re very good. The place is small, not extravagant or the nicest looking building but the inside looks clean enough. Marble table tops, and the tables are close to each other. They have a flat screen as well. Today my sister and I ordered phở, I love lao phở. My sister ordered the number 1 phở, it comes with shrimp, beef, and tripe who veggies. I ordered the number 2 phở, it comes with meatball, beef, and veggies. So good and flavorful. When I used to lived here, I came here all the time, when I tried to take my sister here when she came to visit it was closed maybe for remodeling but I’m glad she gets to try it with me today. I also ordered a coconut drink, it’s very sweet. The down part, I only got two meatballs and my sister got 1 shrimp. Lmao
