Excellent food, excellent service and great coffee. These are the things that make a great breakfast restaurant. Coming from SoCal, where there are great breakfast places at every corner, I was searching Fresno for a special savory breakfast place. Rivaling the great ‘Al’s Café’ for incredible country potatoes, this place delivered me a giant plate of biscuit topped with fluffy scrambled egg, homemade juicy sausage patty and homemade, buttery flavorful gravy. The country scramble was a thing my breakfast dreams are made of. The potatoes. Ohmygod the potatoes were crispy, salty, crunchy, soft, fresh parsley seasoned heaven. I literally ate everything on my plate except for a lil nugget of egg. Needless to say, this is our new breakfast home. Sorry Batter Up & Al’s, where you get lazy with the food & service sometimes, Red Apple is killing it.

Nice surprise when I visited this restaurant because we received quick service by waitress, Denise. Denise is great waitress. Restaurant was packed in the morning. ATMOSPHERE: Loud because of the amount of people. There is a lot going on to serve their customers quickly. Basic and nothing fancy, but good food! FREEPARKING: Small parking lot. Lots like they will expand it in the future on the other side of the wall in the dirt parking lot. It may take a couple of turns to find available parking. FOOD: GREAT taste! Food tasted fresh from the farm and not frozen, pre-packaged! Good hot chocolate! OPENFOR Breakfast and lunch ONLY. VERDICT: Recommended!(…but be patient as they are very busy)

First time here. Denise was our waitress. She was wonderful! We were in a party of 11, she was on top of it. Thank you Denise. Food was excellent! Will be back.

First off, why do Unilocalers dock stars when the restaurant is noisy? As if management has control over customer volume. Anyway, I ordered the Veg potato dish with bacon.(If you fancy some salsa on your breakfast dish, I suggest the green. it’s hella tasty.) Perfectly cooked and seasoned root vegetables always make me happy. Spinach and mushrooms tasted fresh and amazing. That gooey melted cheddar cheese on top… I want more. I have to say though… portions are huge, so you could easily share! Service was quick and friendly. Only negative note was upon entering Red Apple. We weren’t greeted by the man at the front even though he was facing us. I happily said«Good Morning» anyway, and still nothing. He was fidgeting with papers or menus. The lack of greeting rolled off my back, especially because our servers were amazing and incredibly sweet. They offer either a regular breakfast roast or French roast for coffee options.(Its the little things) :) We will be going back!

First timer! The wait was 30 mins but that tells you something about it. The food was really good. The servers were fast, friendly and worked well together which made it a even greater experience I would wait any day for breakfast with that type of environment!!! When you left everyone said bye and thank you for coming including the front person to the bus boys.

Love the food and most of the staff. My only issue is this one employee I personally did not like the way he spoke to our waitress, she was checking us out and he said we did not eat what she said we did and started arguing with her and asked us. I informed him she was correct and he walked away all pissed off. I have been back since and have seen him continue to disrespect staff which I find inappropriate. He has this total I’m a man I’m right attitude and it’s gross. So for that reason my visits will start to probably fade out because he irritates me whenever I have gone in for breakfast.

I love the Red Apple Café. Jim and I have been to breakfast twice there and lunch once. The staff is super nice and considerate. While it is a basic comfort food restaurant they do add a certain modernity to the menu. I’m not a pancake or potato girl but their potatoes rock, Everything seems homemade. Just try it before the wait line is long.

We have driven by this place since it opened and finally decided to give it a try. It took us quite a while to decide because there are so many options on the menu. The menu could be cut down quite a bit and make it much easier to order. I ordered the Red Apple scramble which included eggs, potatoes, spinach, mushrooms, and onions, and two small pancakes, everything was cooked well and our breakfast came out fairly fast. My wife had the French toast which was excellent and came with two huge strips of lean cured bacon. With one beverage The bill came to $ 21.00. Much better than average breakfast and much larger portions than Denny’s or I Hop at a little higher price. I’m sure we will be back.

This place is cute but could be very busy! I came here on a weekday for lunch with some co workers. They were packed but we were seated only after a couple of minutes. We got the menus and it was pretty extensive for a strictly breakfast/lunch place. I asked the waitress about their most popular items and she said their potato dishes seemed to be the most popular. I chose steak/egg/cheese/potato dish. It was huge! Definitely enough for two people or 2 meals(or a really hungry fellow lol). Not only was the quantity good but the quality was great too. The food tasted fresh and flavorful. I definitely recommend that dish. I didn’t finish my food but had it for breakfast the next day. The dish held up pretty well — despite being a day old, it still tasted fresh. I didn’t even finish it(b/c I ran out of steak & eggs and I didn’t want to just eat potatoes) but was still satisfied. Con: It’s not a big restaurant so everyone is packed pretty closely. It also got pretty loud, I think they may need better sound absorption or something because the noise sounded a bit too loud for the amount of people that were in there. Service was great, we had a couple of waitresses and they were both pretty attentive(I think one went on lunch and the other took over). They checked up on us a couple of times during the meal but didn’t hover. She also made splitting our check a very easy process. Prices were fair — it wasn’t the cheapest but it wasn’t overly expensive for what you get. Overall, I had a good experience here. Food was good, service was solid and I would recommend it.

I’m hesitant to post this review because I don’t want Red Apple Café to get any more business than they already have for this tiny location. Far and away the best breakfast I’ve had in Fresno, and I’ve tried a lot of places. The country potatoes side should not be missed; they use red potatoes and season them perfectly with fresh herbs, cooked to tender perfection. Everything seems so fresh and delicious, with generous portions and friendly service. At most other breakfast places, I find the only omelet combination that sounds good(why is it so hard to offer appealing omelet choices?), then just continually order that every time. At Red Apple Café, the whole menu(including the omelet selection) sounds so good, I keep trying new things and keep being amazed. Last week I had their Salmon Scramble($ 10.50) which seemed small when it arrived but it was so buttery and rich when paired with the potatoes I almost could not finish. Main drawback is how small this place is, for how much business they get. It wouldn’t be uncommon to have a 30 minute wait or longer. I absolutely hate waiting to sit down, but here it’s so worth it. I overheard one of the servers telling a customer that they are always busy like that. If it’s possible to keep the same quality, I really hope they can expand or open another location in Fresno, because it’s off the hook.

Had lunch w/the ladies last week. A couple of us arrived a bit before 11:00 am, heeding the warnings of many who have said that it fills up quickly. I arrived at 11:15 and found tge parking lot completely full! So I parked across the street in the Walmart lot. Our server was delightful, patiently checking on us as we chatted waiting for our last arrival. She asked the 6 of us if we wanted separate checks, which we appreciated greatly. They offer a vast array of breakfast and lunch items. I had the club sandwich, asking them to remove the center piece of bread. The sandwich was still too big to finish, along w/the ample serving of fries. Amother had the tropical french toast, looked soooo good. We were treated so attentively during our 2 ½ hour lunch. The only caveat is the noise level. With so many people happily munching away, it’s loud in there!

My first experience here was a pretty darn good one. 5 stars for the food. However we did have to wait about 15mins to be seated only because this humble place was packed which is always a good sign. Good people good service excellent food. Ordered the traditional eggs Benedict and would say this is probably in my top 3 eggs Benedicts in Fresno. The country potatoes were sooooo good. Coffee was good and didn’t have that weird after taste you usually get at other breakfast places. Definitely will be back for more!

We last minute decided to have brunch here and didn’t read the reviews until we were in the car. We got super excited at all the five star reviews for the food. I got concerned with how crowded the place gets according to the reviews, and how noisy but we decided to try it anyway. Now, I know it was a Sunday at prime time for Church to be let out, but I have never had to wait an hour to get a table for two before. It was absolutely packed. We decided to wait it out because the praise of the food on Unilocal seemed to make it worth it. So, we jumped across the street, grabbed a quick snack from McDonald’s and wandered around Walmart for a bit. We get back and have to wait another ten minutes before we are seated. The place is so oddly laid out and they are not utilizing space as well as they could be. They only had a few tablets outside on a pretty patio, too. There was a sort of bar which didn’t have enough chairs so people were standing and gawking at the football game on TV. There was nothing but empty space behind the bar, so I’m wondering if they’re planning on filling it later? There were several large parties too but very few two person tables so when we were seated, we were at a four person table. This seems like a waste of space. My husband also used the restroom and was surprised to see it was a single use bathroom; he told me they could easily have fit two more toilets and another sink in there. The service was fine and friendly. The front end was a bit hassled, running around everywhere trying to get people seated and whatnot. Four different people asked me if they could refill my coffee, so I kind of got tired of saying«no thanks» each time. It was definitely noisy but the food came out promptly enough. I think the coffee mugs were a little small and the coffee was a bit too strong for me. I had to use two creamers to make it okay for me, but this is a personal thing. The menu is also quite large but I don’t see that as necessarily a negative thing. As to the food itself, I was prepared to be amazed but while the food was great, I wasn’t wowed. I had the corn beef hash with wheat toast. Everything was fine but not as good as I was hoping. The seasoning for mine seemed like it was missing something; I added pepper and that seemed to help but completely. I also was expecting a huge portion due to reviews but I finished my plate easily. Husband had the salmon egg scramble with the potatoes everyone’s raving over. The potatoes were nice but needed salt. He also had a bagel with cream cheese; since he was so full he didn’t eat much of the potatoes. He liked the scramble and he got plenty of salmon. For two of us, I paid a little over thirty dollars with tip. For a better meal I would be fine with that but as it is I feel like $ 10.50 per plate was a bit much for the amount/quality of food I got. A buck less per plate maybe. Overall it was okay. Perhaps we’ll stop by if it doesn’t look too crowded.

1st time here. Food was excellent! Service was great. Restaurant is clean. My only issue was the noise level it’s a small space and we were pretty packed in there so it seems like everyone is trying to yell over each other. But I can’t wait to go back and try more items on the menu.

Small café that is highly popular. Good offering of food and drinks served well. If you haven’t tried this cute place on the corner of Ingram and Herndon, you really should. Go very early(6 am) or late(2 pm) if you want to find a parking space in their small parking lot or not have to wait for a table. The menu is extensive. You can get breakfast or lunch and no one goes away hungry. You can also get alcoholic beverages like a Bloody Mary. So, if I like it so well, why not 5 stars? Well, the drawback is because it’s so popular. For which I am glad. It is good when Fresno restaurants do well. Red Apple is tightly packed and it gets very noisy. It is not a place to go and chat. It’s a place to go and eat. And, what you eat will taste very good.

Breakfast with a buddy last week. It was a Thursday about 8:30am. Parking was tight in the regular lot but I there is plenty of parking just north of the regular lot, through the gate. Our server greeted us quickly and was very upbeat and fun. I saw they had corned beef hash so I had to try it. So Glad! My friend had eggs and these potatoes that our server boasted about. We both ordered coffee too. Coffee was poured and it was hot and good. So many breakfast places have mediocre/tasteless coffee. This was not Dutch Bros. but it was hearty and hot. Food came out quickly. My CB Hash was the best I’ve had in Fresno/Clovis. Just the right combo of corned beef and potato with 2 poached eggs on top. I only added a touch of pepper. Had an English muffin too. My friend said the eggs were good and he raved about how good the potatoes were! He didn’t offer so I didn’t take any. ;-) Everything was yummy. Prices were fine. Service was terrific. I’ll be back soon!

I thought it was pretty good. The food was hot, fresh and tasted pretty good. The best thing I had by far were their potatoes. They were expertly cooked and seasoned and were the shining star of the plate. I also had a chicken fried steak that felt like it had been pre-made and frozen which was a huge bummer. I REALLY like chicken fried steak, but it really falls flat when it is not made fresh. Otherwise, the wife and I were very satisfied with our experience.

Very nice clean place with lots of great breakfast and lunch options. Friendly staff, good service, and huge portions! We had the eggs Benedict, one of their potato skillets, and a San Francisco Joe omelette which were all fantastic! Some have said the prices are a bit high, but you seriously get such huge portions that I know I can take a box home for another meal. I would say this place has already outgrown itself as most of the time there is a wait to be seated, it’s rather small so it can get pretty loud when they are busy(so not really a great place to meet with friends to mingle and talk over coffee). Parking is very limited as well so we had to park around the block.
