The chicken and waffles, primarily the chicken, are THE best I’ve had anywhere. Extremely moist and very well seasoned and cooked. All my friends and that this destroys any other place. Chef Paul Pearson’s just falls short. And I love Paul Pearson’s.

I passed by this place everyday, for a couple years, when I lived in the area but never tried it. My wife and I, wanting to try somewhere new, decided to to call in a to go order. The woman who answered was very courteous but didn’t seem to know the menu very well. I asked her if we could substitute the fat fries for onion rings she put me on hold to ask. I asked if they make their jalapeño poppers in house, she put me on hold to ask. I got the Rib and Chicken combo dinner. Chicken was really crunchy and juicy but tasted only like salt. The ribs were cooked really well but I didn’t care for the sauce. The bbq beans were pretty good, decent flavor with a little bite to them. The potato salad was just your typical out of the carton, sweet, crappy, grocery store junk. My wife said her burger had good flavor but you could tell it was a frozen patty. I’m pretty sure their«fat fries» are just frozen steak fries out of a bag. Overall I was disappointed.

Great chicken and a homestyle atmosphere. These people know how to make you feel at home. They have ribs and burgers too and a happy hour as well. It’s in a shady area but worth the visit. Two thumbs up for the Chicken Man!

I called in an order of chicken strips that included frys. The website said it was $ 7.00. When I arrived the woman at the counter said it was $ 11.00 and some change. At first she said something about ordering strips and a side of fries but when I told her the menu said fries came with the strips and that I’d seen the menu online, she figured out she’d made a mistake. The food was good but with ONLY4 strips and a small fry it was expensive at $ 8.50 with tax! It’s amazing that she didn’t catch her own mistake. Does $ 11.00 sound even remotely possible anywhere for chicken strips and a fry? –G

First in for dinner on a Wednesday before 5:00. Regulars and staff were very friendly to us newbies. Nice pieces of chicken, good naked ribs could be a little leaner. Killer beans and garlic bread. Buy beer because dinner is made to order. Can see if busy, service will be slow.

Looking for something to bring home for dinner. Saw this spot on Unilocal,it had great reviews. I ordered 2 chicken dinners and 2 chicken«snacks». The dinners come with a half chicken(4 piece), fries, beans salad, garlic bread. The«snack» is a 2 piece minus the beans. Waaaay to much food for four adults, could of gotten away with just the 2 dinners. Chicken was juicy, not greasy, with a good coating that was flavorful and did not fall off. Beans and bread were good as well. Cole slaw leaves something to be desired, or I am just spoiled as my wife just made some at home the other day. Do not let the neighborhood deter you, I didn’t see any rifraf inside. Good eats, we will be back.

Food and service are on point. It’s in a scary part of town but everyone, customers included, was incredibly kind. The chicken was probably the best fried chicken I’ve had in California. I thought it was fun, and true southern fashion, that you can pick any kind of «salad» for you starter. I picked the potato salad ha. Amazing.

Rudy is a Legend… I do realize he has passed on sadly but to me he lives on with his world famous chicken. I have traveled the entire planet and the only fried chicken even close to Rudy’s was in a town in New Zealand ! RIP Rudy Jr… As a Steelers fan your the one reason I pull for the Raiders in a slight bit just because it made you happy when they would win… here’s hoping Carr brings another title to Oak Town.

We ordered burgers, chicken breasts, fries, and drinks. All the food was good. The waitress is really friendly and cool to talk with. They make it fresh. It takes about 30 minutes to receive the food.

Ate at this new diner place where people were raving about the fried chicken. I came here for lunch just as they opened. Everything was delicious. I enjoyed the charm of this small business and the chicken was easily the most delicious I ever had in the central valley. This truly deserves its 5 star rating

The service was so terribly slow that I can’t get over it and rate the actual food. It actually wasn’t all that busy, most of the tables were taken but not all. We got seated tight away and it only took about five minutes to take our drink order, which was just water. It took almost fifteen minutes to bring our water and then the waitress didn’t want to take our food order but we insisted. Unfortunately it then took almost an hour and twenty minutes, yes that’s an additional eighty minutes after our order, to bring the food out. The ribs were pretty good maybe three stars and the fried chicken was good, probably four stars, and the pastrami sandwich was okay, just three stars, but two hours of wasted time for slow service means an overall one star experience.

My brother lives down the street from this place, and every time I’m in town, my brother says«we should try this place!» I love love LOVE fried chicken, so finally I gave in. The area doesn’t bother me, but it might some pansy people. I grew up in the hood. I felt at home. The décor is a lot of old beer signs(pretty cool actually) and the seats are just your basic table and chairs. The food however, I was disappointed about. I ordered the chicken snack, white meat breast and wing with macaroni salad and fries. My brother got the chicken tenders, fries and a side of beans. Garlic bread also, was good. Can’t complain. It’s bread, butter and garlic. The mac salad is the package kind you can get in any supermarket anywhere. The beans while having a good flavor, many of them were under done and crunchy. We paid $ 4 and change for a «Large» side of beans and received about a cup probably. When I get a crunchy bean, it turns me off. The fried chicken had an odd flavor. The lady serving us said they received giant chicken breasts and had to cut them in half. Well, once a meat chicken gets a certain size, they get tough and gamey. Unfortunately that’s what happened here. It almost tasted like it was rancid, but I couldn’t tell if that was because of the batter or the chicken. It was pretty salty, but I like salty food so I was okay with it. I had a few bites, pretended I was full and took the rest home in a to go container. Brothers chicken fingers tasted better than my chicken. Tasted like normal chicken instead of almost gone bad chicken. He liked them, and for the price of like $ 8 he received 5 pretty good sized tenders. Fries were good. I got ranch with mine and the ranch was good. Homemade, not the bottle crap which I hate. Overall, we weren’t impressed. For being known for their chicken, I was sadly disappointed. It even made me not want to eat fried chicken for a few days, because every time I thought about it, I would get that terrible flavor in my mouth. I ended up giving the chicken to my brothers pitbull who loved it. We spent about $ 30 with drinks(coke and tea) and honestly, and unfortunately, I’d go to Popeyes every day than come back here.

I heard about this place after Unilocal had it listed as a good fried chicken joint. I had really hoped this place would blow me away, but it didn’t. Other than taking forever which I expected after reading the reviews it was just okay. The fried chicken was good but a tad too salty. The garlic bread was soggy, the ranch was bitter, the ribs tasted old and hadtoo much fat and char. The beans were really good and so were the fat fries as they call them. The service was great. She was extremely nice and polite. Maybe it was the fact that they were super busy that the food was in all honesty, pretty crappy or maybe I just came in on a bad night. I don’t know but sadly I won’t return.

The outside does not look like a place I would want to try but the inside looks comfy and clean! We got a free sample of ribs because it was our first time. The chicken we ordered was really good, juicy and flavorful! Worth the wait time(kinda long) the owner was really nice and friendly, talked to us about the store’s history and whatnot

I was so depressed when google rated the top fried chicken place in Fresno as Chick-fil-A! Then i found this place… which i guess has been in business, right under my nose for 30 years or something. The fried chicken at Rudy Jr’s Chicken man is definitely the best I’ve had in town. Crispy skin, buttery moist meat. Beans are awesome, cole slaw is amazing. big portions: with the chicken dinner your getting like 5 pieces! The dinning room is such a throwback, i hope they never change. I Highly recommend this place.

Really good ribs, really good fried chicken! Good sides(beans, potato salad, garlic bread.) OK appetizers… But that’s not really what you come here for, right? Don’t let the location where are you. The neighborhood is sketchy, true, but all will be well, I promise. And if you’re lucky, like we were tonight, that would be an appearance of Rudy the chicken man… in a full chicken suit! And, as if that weren’t enough, there was another chicken man also. How can you beat that? My wife and I had 2 dinners, 2 beers each, under $ 40. Check this place out!
