Its an amazing new shopping, dining and entertainment plaza in Fresno that is not only exciting to Clovis and Fresno residents but now also creates a whole new exciting chapter to campus life for Fresno State students — where students can now hang and have fun nearby campus. Before when I was a student at Fresno State we had no where to hang, and most of us would just leave, well now we have an exciting new gem. This is going to be the new heartbeat and center to California State University Fresno a.k.a Fresno State Campus. Its the newest shopping center addition to Fresno located within the Fresno State owned land, developed by the same ingenious developers who brought the river park mall experience to Fresno: Lance-Kashian & Co. This is is the largest mixed-use public and private partnership in the California State University system according to the Fresno State President Joseph Castro. I must say this new shopping center is impressive in its modern exterior, plus it has plenty of parking for patrons. Both on north side of the main plaza and also south side of the main plaza, and they need it because this shopping center houses a 16 screen movie theatre, plus over 30 spaces for dinning and shopping. Currently there is beach hut deli, mad duck and cold stone currently opened. But many more businesses are coming, which to me is really exciting. New businesses such as tapioca express, wok it out, tofas Mediterranean grill, pieology, yogurtland, wahoo’s fish tacos, hino oishi, farm fresh bowls and many more will be opening soon. Its all real exciting businesses I can’t wait to try. I must also appreciate the diversity from the choices of food, they have asian, Mediterranean and american favorites, which reflects the rich diverse ethnic background here in Fresno and California. The shopping centre centers around the middle plaza which overlooks the Maya Cinemas, the plaza is finished with tall palm trees and a green grass area which makes it appear like an elegant oasis. It really is a great symbol for the shopping centre too, since this place will be an oasis for students and many fresno residents. At night the shopping centre is brightly lifted creating a beautiful and lively place for everyone to come and enjoy. I really like the touch of the bike parking areas, plus the many stone seats located around the shopping centre. The only negative would be the current boring exterior of Maya Cinemas, I would imagine the outside to be more colorful and have maybe art mural or maybe movie memorabilia stuck on the wall, like large ants or something to create a memorable look from outside, and an exciting draw as a movie theatre. Also parking spaces is very cramped here and the roads is very narrow and small, so people with bigger cars might find it a struggle to maneuver. But overall great security and nice done shopping centre. Finally, maybe a food truck day would be fun to attract more people here, we need a food truck movement close to Fresno state.
