My daughter and I have been going to the Frosted Cakery for the past month or so. Finally decided to try the Veggie Panini that I always see the sign for! Sooo tasty! My 13 yr old girlie tried a bit and begged for another… actually wanted to go back to get one of her own.!! Kinda funny since just last week she said she didn’t like eggplant and it was in it! lol Then there was the hummus and pita chips… I have claimed I didn’t like hummus. My mind is officially changed! Soooo delish! Definitely another reason to venture to Tower! Wish they were closer to my work cuz I wouldn’t waste time making lunch if I could go there daily!

Mmm mmm mmm. Solid nom nom’s ***APPROVED*** After 1 problematic doctors appointment, and 14 vials of blood drawn later, I decided I was in the mood for something new and tasty. After stalking Matt P. and Tristan’s feed, I decided to give these guys a go. Soo glad I did =-) The interior sort of reminded me of Cupcakes Bakery. It didn’t take me too long to look over their menu, I ended up deciding upon the chicken pesto sandwich. Initially though, that was all I intended on ordering. I added on the peppered-cheddar soup at the last minute. I’m always skeptical about ordering soups from sandwich places. They always end up being disappointing, and I end up throwing it away after a sip or two. This soup however, was super tasty and HOT. My toasted sandwich and soup combo made for the perfect meal, especially on a cold and foggy morning like we had today. It took some time for them to prepare my sandwich(bout 10 – 15 minutes), to which the friendly girl at the counter kept apologizing for. I didn’t mind though. I was busy people watching, and glancing at those tasty looking cupcakes that were taunting me from the counter. When my order was ready, I went ahead and added a cupcake to go as well! I figured that I deserved it, after being stabbed 14 times lol. Once at home I could smell the aromatic tastiness awaiting me. The pesto sandwich was soooo good and FRESH. I could immediately tell that the rest of the food was going to be excellent… just from the first bite; and it wasssz ;-) As expected, the soup was also very flavorful and satisfying. Finally, some place that serves delicious soup. I’m a big soup whore, so this discovery was super groundbreaking and exciting for me. It also had a little hint of heat to it, which in my book is never a bad thing. After devouring my soup, sandy and pita bread chips w/hummus, I then took my first bite of my vanilla cupcake… which ill review separately ;-) All in all my experience here was an excellent one. Eateries like these, that serve gourmet-ish type food, are hard to come by here. That fact alone makes me miss places like Los Gatos, since they have lots of healthy gourmet choices looming around every corner. When it comes to Fresno though, you must lower your standards. Which is why I tend to rate a bit high when I do find something good. On another note, I’m glad I didn’t get chips to go along with my order, since the pita bread and hummus were included. Which is so much better than some crappy ass bag of grossness. Tasty food and good service is all I need to be a happy Sabby. Something tells me that i’ll be back here 1,987,992,654 more times :)

4.0 — 4.5 Rating. ____ This place is great. Finally came here for the first time after strong reviews, and was very satisfied. On that note, I’d hate to be the only less-than-5-star-rating, but it’s not quite ‘as good as it gets,’ at least on my first trip here anyways. However, I do tend to grade very conservatively, so do not be fooled — this new addition to the Tower District is very solid. I ordered a sandwich and soup combo for lunch, and even said fuck-it to the diet, and couldn’t help myself from ordering a cupcake to-go. The soup of the day was a pablano pepper /cheddar cheese type concoction that was very good and comforting. It didn’t do the gourmet soup faux-pas of being overly salty or overly rich either. I was saying to myself, «I hope this isn’t basically a melted-cheese soup,» as it wasn’t — it was just the right balance of savory and creamy, and just the right amount of cheesiness. If anything, I wished the soup had a tad bit thicker consistency. For my sandwich, I ordered the black forest ham, which was a good, solid sandwich with great ingredients such as marinated red onions, and a dijon-type spread. I like how places like this tend to go for different ingredients than your run-of-the-mill tomato, lettuce, onion, etc. However, I wasn’t thrilled with the room temperature, almost cold ciabatta bread they use, since un-warmed ciabatta tends to be somewhat ‘hard’ and a bit rubbery to chew through. Overall, I feel this is a personal-preference type thing, so interpret this as you will. My opinion, I wish it was a toasted, or warmed bread. I think this would probably bode a lot better for the sandwich overall. I’d still prefer Charlotte’s sandwiches over SupportR’s, but again — I’ve only been here once, so I don’t want to speak too soon. Speaking of Charlotte’s, for those who don’t know, yes SupportR is in the former building where Charlotte’s used to reside. They’ve done quite a nice ‘brightening’ and freshening up of the joint as well. And yes, just as other reviews have stated, they share this with the Frosted Cakery space(I’ll review them separately soon). Also, as Tristan P. points out, grabbing at least a cup of soup to go is a MUST. Trying the soup today already gave me a good sign that ALL the soups must be equally as great or better. The sandwich I had today, although good — not great — was saved by eating it with a nice, hot cup of soup. There’s probably nothing more complementary than a sandwich & hot soup combo, especially on a COLD fucking day like we have right now. Bottom line, I definitely recommend SupportR. They have so many great things going for themselves: — Fresh, local and seasonal ingredients. — Attention to non-traditional, yet familiar taste /flavor combinations. — Amazing, and WONDERFULLY nice staff /owner. — Locally owned and operated! Seeing«gems» like SupportR makes me have hope that Fresno is slowly, but finally getting it. However, at the same time it really pisses me off, because places like this should not just only exist in the Tower District neighborhood. If RiverPark’s developers got it’s head out of it’s ass, they might realize that Fresnans actually care about local, mom n’ pops, like this — not just national chains. The addition of Teazer’s in RiverPark almost gave me a heartattack — hopefully they may be the first step in actually getting quality businesses people want to visit in N. Fresno. I’d take any local-owned restaurant or coffeehouse in Tower over another fucking Subway or Starbucks. Anyways! Go out and support SupportR(…sorry). Just remember: sandwich — soup — cupcake! You can’t go wrong.

This strip of shops is quickly becoming my favorite in Fresno. From Café Corazon to TweeBoutique to Frosted Cakery and now The SupportR, which is in the former Charlotte’s Bakery location in The Tower District. This place is all about quality and freshness! Mary, the lady that runs it is very sweet and welcoming. The sandwiches are really yummy and are made with very good high quality ingredients. I’ve had the chicken pesto sandwich and the black forest ham sandwich. Both were very impressed, but like some of the other reviewers, it would be awesome if they toasted them a bit. The owner also sometimes serves breakfast. I had a very good tomato and bacon strata. The thing you need to watch for is when the owner makes her soups! She made the most amazing seafood gumbo the other day. It was out of this world! Big chunks of andouille sausage, large shrimp, and craw fish! This stuff was awesome! I heard from Leo over at Café Corazon that all her soups are good. Can’t wait to try them all! It’s a different soup most of the time, so follow them on Twitter @TheSupportR to see whats up! Also one of the great things about this place is that it shares space with The Frosted Cakery, who make the most amazing cupcakes. So go there, grab a soup and sandwich… and then grab a cupcake!

This is my new favorite place in Fresno. They have a great menu, and ue all fresh ingredients. I love the mozarella on ciabatta, and their salads are fantastic. They also make a delicious hummus. The energy plates are a great concept and perfect for lunch because they are not heavy and still satisfying. The service here is wonderful. I do not know the owner’s name yet(I have only been a few times) but she is so friendly! According to their website, they deliver lunches. This is a great healthy option(hard to find in Fresno), and I really hope they are able to establish a solid business.

Had an amazing red velvet cakepop and it was amazing! Also had a very yummy chocolate chocolate cupcake, which was so good. My husband had their java chocolate cupcake which he loved and wondered why I did not buy more than one. :)
