Dining at Pizzaria Testa was the first time I had the opportunity to try authentic Neapolitan pizza… At first I was a little disappointed! The pizza was not what I was used to and the service was mediocre. However, giving it a second shot, I found a pizza that I enjoyed, the Quattro Formaggi(it didn’t have the tomato sauce and was less runny). The service during that visit went above and beyond what I was expecting after my first visit. The waitress, Jazz, was extremely friendly and bubbly to say the least. She helped me find a pizza I would enjoy and was always on top of drink refills. Her smile and charisma made the dining experience authentic and definitely changed my overall opinion of the restaurant. Five stars because I will definitely return and definitely request her as a server. Also the pizza is delightful once you find something you like!

I really like the food here. I could eat the crust on this pizza — and that spicy pepperoni/salami for days and days. Only downside: service. They really need to step it up. If you get«that guy» — forget about it. But if you get«that girl» — then it’s an awesome experience. Also — the guys making the pizza — in plain view — and touching everything — shouldn’t they be wearing gloves(and changing them often?) My husband and I usually come here for our Friday lunch dates. The food’s good, so I’ll go back, but the staff needs some(re)training.

Not my first time with. Neopolitan pizza as I have sampled many places in different cities of the world. The plates 3 out of 7 put on our table were dirty and had leftover stains on them. We ordered 3 pizzas and all 3 came out consistently the same with the outer crust awesome but the inner rest as way undercooked with the sauce being extremely watery and the moz not even getting melted/gooey as it should. Nothing notable about the topping either, overall a mediocre experience and taste There were also no options for a non pork based topping such as chicken sausage or lamb etc. The high school wait staff was smart looking but not very good at their job, they never came back to check once how the food was and if anything else was required till the very end by which time the meal was finished, no extra peppers or cheese was on table either, needless to say we won’t be going back. We will Stick to Grimaldis and Coal Vines for our carb destinations.

So I went there a few days ago for brunch and I’m not usually one to complain about pizza ever. I love pizza. I don’t even care how it is. But I guess I was just disappointed knowing that the lunch menu sucks. Seriously it does. The items don’t suck like that BUT like it’s clearly cheaper for a reason. Like don’t get the pizza + salad lunch special for $ 9ish because it’s going to come out cold and soggy. Literally. However, I feel like if I had ordered from their dinner or full menu maybe I would’ve gotten fresher food? I’m really not even trying to be mean or bash this business, from all the other reviews it seems great. I guess just maybe they expect a big crowd to come for the lunch menu so maybe they just cook a lot at once to make sure everyone gets food in a timely manner. But honestly, I would rather wait to get my food 15, 20, hell even 30 minutes longer just for it to be fresh. I had their margarita pizza and it’s my hands down favorite anywhere. But here, it was clearly cold because the mozzarella wasn’t stringy. I guess all in all I was disappointed. Really really disappointed and sad. Pizza is my favorite. So my advice would be just to stick to their full menu and order from there and hopefully you get fresh food.

We visited Pizzeria Testa last night with another couple. When the waitress came to take our order, I asked if there were any pizzas with chicken and she informed me that was not a topping they offered. I shared that I would then need a few minutes to re-visit the menu. The waitress then turned to the other couple and began taking their order. I then felt extremely rushed because I didn’t want their meal to come out separately from that of mine and my husband’s so I selected the Caprese. The waitress explained that the crust is cooked first and the cheese is added after it is pulked out of the oven. In my mind, I was thinking thin slices of cheese. The pizza arrived and the cheese was actually large chunks. My husband and I tried a piece but it was very different and we honestly didn’t care for it. I called the waitress over and asked if there was any way they could put the pizza back in the oven to melt the cheese. She called the manager over and he explained they could not reheat it but he would cook another pizza for us. Although I did not care for the Caprese pizza, I was extremely impressed with the manager and how he handled the situation. I don’t normally complain at restaurants so I felt a little embarrassed. The manager, however, was very professional and did not make me devalued in any way. I would like to come back again in the future and give the restaurant another try. I could tell by the number of patrons that it’s definitely a popular pizza establishment so it is definitely pleasing to many locals!

Wow! This place is fantastic. Loved the red sauce! Most inpressive, however, was our waitress Jasmine. She was so helpful and had such a great personality. It’s rare to get such great enthusiasm and service. We’ll be back for sure and if you come in ask for her!

I wouldn’t normally give a pizza place 4 stars, but because we believe this is the best pizza we have had in the DFW market(to our memory), that’s what I am giving it. If in the area, this is a must stop if you like pizza(which is all they really serve). The ingredients seemed really fresh and of great quality.

The pizza was really good! The simpler the better … The cappriocca was not my best choice. The artichokes were a lil too acid for my taste. Place was nice, clean & servers are friendly. Love the fact that they make the pizza in front of you. The kitchen is out there so you can see when they make the food. According to them everything is imported from Italy.

Great pizzas but sometimes it does taste a little doughy. Needs to be left in the fire oven a little more. Overall the experiences have been great and the front desk girls are sweet. I did have my husbands bday there and they do seem to rush us out the door. 4 different people came to tell me my cake is ready. It was only 10pm and a restaurant full. I didn’t appreciate that. Management needs to let wait staff know stop pushing people out the door. They may have made more money if we were maybe offered coffee or dessert.

Pizzeria Testa is a Neapolitan style pizza restaurant in the Frisco town square. It’s a great location in the square complete with an outdoor patio. The oven burns hot, the crust is thin, & the tomatoes are fresh. While I wouldn’t consider them original(other places have similar styles), Pizzeria Testa is a great alternative to traditional pizza chains. My Overall Rating — 3 ½ Stars(Atmosphere, Service, Food) Atmosphere — Located in the heart of Frisco’s great Town Square, Pizzeria Testa is walkable from the many nearby shops. It’s a beautiful brick building with patio seating in front & back. At night the building is charmingly lit & leads you into an inviting dining area. The kitchen area is on your left along with the two ovens used to fire your pizza. 1 Star. Service — Our server was very nice. It was our first time so he took time to explain the concept of Neapolitan style pizza. Very friendly too. And while they were very busy and the pizzas were delayed coming out, he did a great job checking in & setting our expectations. Great service! 1 Star. Food — If you’re a fan of thin, Neapolitan style pizza, you’ll love it. The pizzas are cooked in super-hot wood fired ovens in seconds. The result is you get a pizza that is thin/soft in the middle. It’s best to eat it with a fork or use the fold method. Some people don’t like this style, but I happen to like it because it allows more of the flavors of the ingredients to come out. I went with the Caalzionne — mozzarella, pancetta, & an egg. Loved the salty-crispy pancetta but the egg wasn’t as enjoyable as I would have thought. For the kids we ordered a non-spicy Testa Rosso which we just called«pepperoni». Another bonus was the melon/prosciutto appetizer. Melons were super sweet and plump. We also spotted several pizzas that were super long(meter pizzas). I have to admit, they look good but you’ll need a group of 4 or more adults to tackle one. 1 Star. Will I Return? — No… but only because 1) It’s in Frisco which is far for me and 2) it’s not original. While my entire visit was great, I’ve had this same type of meal before other Neapolitan style pizza restaurants. Those who live in Frisco & want a great Neapolitan pizza should bookmark immediately. They were good but not good enough to pull me away from my favorites. ½ Star. My Unilocal Rating Scale(Sum of all parts): 1 Star — Atmosphere — Is it a cool dive? Perhaps an upscale place? No matter the type, atmosphere plays a big part and I’ll give a star if I like it or thinks it has great charm. 1 Star — Service — You can have a great meal with bad service. But that’s also what can make a five-star joint drop to four. It’s important to the dining experience that service is great and on point. 2 Stars — Food — I’ll award up to two stars for the food, since this is the main reason we dine out. Sometimes the extra star is given for value, but it’s really all about the food. 1 Star — Will I come back? — If I know for a fact I’ll return, I’ll give this a star. A place has to make an impression for me to return. Each Category can be given up to 1 star except food(2 stars) because I consider all these categories important to the overall dining experience. I will sum them up to provide my final Unilocal score.

I’d heard good things about Pizzeria Testa from some friends and decided to go and try it on a whim. The wait wasn’t bad at all considering it was Friday night at 7. We sat at the bar right by the oven, which was awesome to watch the food thrown in there and a slice of heaven come out. I highly recommend it! Definitely some of the best pizza I’ve had around here.

This is our second time here. Even better than the first. The pizza is so light and delicious. I can’t explain how yummy and fresh it is. I don’t feel guilty eating it. All of it. :) ***TIP: Add an egg to any pizza!!! It’s ridiculous. No other word for it. It just adds that extra richness that I now realize I cannot live without. Also sit at the bar of you can. It’s wonderful to watch them create and cook. The bartender was so friendly and helpful tonight… Sean. I hope you get to meet him. Fresh and clean food. We will be back. A lot.

This was probably the nicest pizza places I have been too. The food was excellent. The brought me a pizza that wasn’t exactly what I ordered, but the gave me it for free. I ate it anyway because I didn’t want to waste it. The ingredients were fresh and the pizza was out quick. The wait staff was excellent. I highly recommend this place.

UPDATE: So we decided to try it again… It was definitely better this time. I added a star considering the service this time around. We waited a while before anyone greeted our table but once she did she was pretty good. The food was much better this time and we even got dessert. We couldn’t decide between the Nutella pizza thing or the tiramisu so we got both. They were both good. The service was the most notable difference. I still wouldn’t say it was amazing but it was way better than last time. She kept our drinks full, brought us what we needed, and the food came out fast. ORIGINAL: We decided to go here for dinner because of the good reviews and a good experience my boyfriend had here before. I wasn’t too impressed. Our server was ok at first. He started off really well but when he dropped off the check he said«I’ll leave this for when you guys are ready to get out of here». Of course his tone was sort of joking but I’m a big believer in body language and subconscious choice of words showing a persons true feelings over their planned statements. He also asked us if we were still using the oil and vinegar or if he could take it away while we were still eating. He clearly was ready for us to go. The salad was great but the pizza was just ok. We asked them to wait to put in the pizza order until we had our salads but they brought the pizza literally about 30 seconds after the salad. The middle of the pizza wasn’t quite done and the olives we added were whole instead of sliced and they were mostly on just one side. Overall I would say the setting of the restaurant was a 5, service and food were a 3.

Building a home in the area and thought NOLA cajun sounded good. But it was closed, so walked over to Pizzeria Testa as my felllow Unilocalers say its good. There is a wait of six parties ahead of us. Salads look good but the pizza looks a little undercooked and over sauced just walking by tables. Wait was short and sitting at the bar watching them make pizzas. Entertaining. Ordered bruschetta and its badass! Second bite was all fresh basil and awakening. Fresca salad damn good. Having fun watching the guy at wood fired oven. Waiter Diego is explaining how the freakishly amazing bruschetta bread is baked in the wood fired oven. Gets better… the Ortoluna pizza is squash, eggplant, yellow and red bell peppers. No red sauce and I am in heaven. The bruschetta was too much to eat so I dumped the tomatoes and basil on the pizza. So my first prediction was true. Pizza was a little mushy in the center. So I folded each piece in half and tore the undercooked center off. OK — big hint… order well done! A few of the pieces that had a some black on the edges were much better. Obviously it didn’t lower my review. Sitting at the bar was probably more fun than just hanging in restaurant. Nice patio in the rear would be okay a little later in the year when its not so hot. Diego rocks! Thanks bro.

Pizza was okay, the sauce was delicious but it was light on the meat. The calzone was wonderful. The salad was an Arugula pizza and I am not a big fan of Arugula. The service was excellent. The place is nice and clean. The resturant has no parking in front of the front door. You have to park on the side and walk around.

***Pizzeria Testa serves decent Italian style pizzas though the quality of ingredients and the crust here did not stack up well against the country’s best pizza restaurants like Los Angeles’ Pizzeria Mozza and Minneapolis’ Pizzeria Lola*** Pizzeria Testa looks and feels like it is going to be a good Italian-style pizza restaurant. The restaurant has a bright contemporary look with nice blond colored wood. The menu features starters and salads like caprese and prosciutto with melon. The menu also has calzones, sandwiches and several pizzas. The pizzas are baked in a wood fire oven and showcase ingredients like Buffalo mozzarella, extra virgin olive oil, prosciutto, ricotta, arugula, and more. I went with their margherita pizza(San Marzano tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, basil, extra virgin olive oil) and added prosciutto and arugula. The pizza looked nice and the crust was lightly blackened. Overall, it was a decent pizza and the key ingredients of mozzarella, cheese and tomatoes were all good. However, when you compare this pizza to other Italian style pizza restaurants(like Pizzeria Mozza in Los Angeles and Pizzeria Lola in Minneapolis), Pizzeria Testa falls short. The crust at Pizzeria Testa was too doughy. In addition, while I liked a lot of the ingredients, I did not care for the prosciutto. It was really more like a salty ham. It did not have a thin and delicate consistency like most prosciutto. Instead, it was slightly thick and rough like sliced ham. Service was good. The food came out quickly and my server was personable. Prices are reasonable and portions are generous. While I did not love the prosciutto on my pizza and wish that the crust was better, the pizza was decent. I am not sure if I would seek out this establishment, but I would be open to coming back if I was in this area again and craving Italian style pizza. Free parking is available.
